What are social determinants of health?
The social determinants of health are the circumstances in which people are born; grow up, live, work and age, and the systems put in place to deal with illness. These circumstances are in turn shaped by a wider set of forces: economics, social policies, and politics. (WHO).
How do social determinants of health contribute to the development of illness?
The factors that affect health are host, agent and environmental factors. Human behaviors such as smoking can cause heart disease, stroke, cancers and chronic respiratory disease. Alcohol use causes liver cirrhosis, cancer, road accidents, home violence, and social relation. Lack of access to health service can cause the people’s health status such as person do not have health insurance are very less health checkup. Food and water are the major sources of contact to both chemical and biological hazards such as salmonella, E coli, cholera, and hepatitis A. The people who live in lower income and social status may link to poor health. Low education levels also can be linked with poor health and stress.

There are six elements in the chain of infection. 1. Infectious agent (an organism was the ability to cause disease). 2. A reservoir (a place where organism reproduced such as animals, humans etc.). 3. Portal of exits (a place of exist providing a microorganism to leave the reservoir eg. mouth and nose while sneeze or cough) 4.Mode of transmission (carrying organism from one place to another place eg.
