Analysis
The consequence of poverty is a cause for concern nationally. The government blamed the poor for their poverty and the result of the policies created by the coalition government which continued into the follow up conservative administration caused more hardship and poverty for the people (including the working household) amongst which are
• A drop in income for those on benefits without a corresponding drop in the cost of living led more people into poverty than out.
• Social cleansing caused more inequality and segregation as more people moved out of the cities because they couldn’t afford the life there.
• Increase in homelessness as a result of the delay in processing housing benefit applications as well a cut in the amount.
• Increase in inflation and austerity.
• Increase in debts.
• Increase in the margin of inequalities between poorer and more affluent areas, as changes to housing benefit push people out of higher-rent areas.
• Increase in social exclusion and insufficient support as services are cut leading to a decline in both physical and mental health.
• Reduce access to childcare and social care thereby making it more difficult for women to care for their loved ones.
• Many community and voluntary sector organizations are closing down due to lack of funds.
• Increase in the demand for food banks, rising levels of fuel poverty and a situation whereby more and more people are reliant on benefits (News and views)

After testing the amount of catalase denaturation of raw chicken liver a few things were found. To find how fast and how much the catalase denatures in hydrogen peroxide observations were made about both the amount the bubbles rose and how many bubbles there were. In the first trial the amount of denaturation was tested in four different solutions by putting raw liver in the different solutions. These solutions were hydrogen peroxide, a solution with hydrogen peroxide and hydrochloric Acid, a solution with sodium hydroxide and hydrogen peroxide, and a solution with: hydrogen peroxide, sodium hydroxide, and hydrochloric acid. After testing these four solutions, the solution with hydrochloric acid and hydrogen peroxide was the most effective at denaturing catalase (2.32pH), while the hydrogen peroxide alone (5.3pH) was the least effective.
Poverty has been known to affect certain groups harder than others; people who are more at-risk of being struck by poverty include people with disabilities, children, aboriginal people, single parents, and new Canadians. Poverty is not known to have one single cause, instead it is a complex mix of causes based on each individual case. It can be the result of the social assistance programs that families and individuals are forced to rely on as a mean of support, perhaps cultural barriers stand in the way, or perhaps education, whatever the reason it is a difficult cycle to break. There is a relationship between poverty and poor health, lower productivity, lower educational attainment, and children’s future outcomes. According to Maxwell (2009), Micro data from the National Population Health Survey found that 73% of Canadians with the highest incomes have reported their health as excellent, while 47% of Canadians with the lowest rated their overall health as
Poverty is an ever increasing issue in the UK and is perceived as a major social problem due to the consequences that it brings with it .The term ‘social problem’ refers
Unemployment is seen as one of the possible reasons for the increase in poverty rates, despite the increase in welfare payments. Whilst it is likely that this startling increase in unemployment levels is partly responsible for the increase in poverty, it still
2. – Explain the important and impact of poverty on outcomes and life chances for children and young people.
The system that people have created has diminished individual’s dignity. Fathers are ashamed that they need help, so they usually leave while their family is receiving help. Mothers try to act happy and keep a smile on their faces while receiving help. The children do not ask questions, but know what to expect every holiday, and know that they will not go without clothes and food. People get too comfortable with the idea of help that they stop working hard. This deeply saddens me because poverty is a never ending cycle, and I see it in my own community. People do not have their priorities straight because they will go out and buy a big screen television, rather than paying bills. Also, individuals have become lazy and have lost motivation for making money.
As we can see though income is a major contributor to poverty, when children are born the parents have a hard decision to make whether to return to work or stay at home. Either one of these decisions though has a negative consequence on the family’s budget, be it higher expenses or less income. A lot of people think that claiming benefits will help them make up the short fall in wages but this isn’t the case. In reality, benefits are set at levels that leave recipient’s living below the poverty line. In 2009/10 it was estimated that a family with one child claiming jobseekers allowance received only 65 per cent of the amount they required to live above the poverty line. (DWP, 2011.) This then has a knock on affect in other aspects of life. Parents have to decide whether feeding their children is more important than heating there home. It is estimated that 1.6 million children are growing up in homes which are too cold. (Barnardos, 2014.) Children growing up in poverty have it very hard not only do they grow up being cold and hungry they also miss out on activities at school and with friends.
Poverty has long been a topic of importance for people. They have always sought a way to somehow eliminate poverty from society. In the mid 20th century, politicians waged a so called “war on poverty”. This led to the eventual creation of the welfare system which assisted those living in poverty
This essay will consider whether the welfare state has eliminated poverty. It will examine what poverty is and how the definition varies from societies. The essay will look at the aims of the welfare state from conception and how it has changed to present times. The welfare state being analysed is the welfare state in the United Kingdom. It will discuss the nature of the social democratic welfare state and liberal criticisms of the problems this type of state brings. The recent changes to the welfare state will be reviewed and what the consequences of the changes may be. It will then look at recent statistics to determine whether the welfare state has eradicated poverty.
Ideally people will provide the aid presented in this paper to those who are struggling and the needy will use the resources provided to them in order to benefit themselves and prosper into a better economic position. There are always factors where there is no contributed effort from either side. Lack of funding and government money is a huge issue in the role of poverty and things such as family services and the ability to create jobs is limited. Subsequently, the state, the community and the citizens are left to support the problems in their living area. When it comes to employment, it is hard to pick it up without the help of the government. Many are left hopeless until someone recognizes the scarcity of support and options in the community.
Leigh Michaels once said, “What keeps readers turning pages is suspense, which you can create using a variety of techniques.” This is a very true statement because suspense is what hooks readers to keep flipping those pages. Suspense is a key element to detective stories, without it the story would be very bland and boring. Why is that we need suspense to make a page turning story?
This then leads on to the idea of the deserving and undeserving poor. Many politicians believe that they should not be helping families which are getting more financial help from the government than families who are going out to work for a living, many politicians believe that people that are unemployed should receive every minimal help from the government and initiate and progress in looking for a job to support themselves and their families. However what these ideas do not support is the events that some family members who are in full time work are made redundant through no fault of their own, these are the families that should be entitled to more help than families who have no employment (Magazine, 2010).
3. These practices impose additional economic and social burdens on already struggling individuals and communities.
The United States is the wealthiest nation in the world, but yet poverty remains prevalent. Childhood poverty affects every aspect of their life. “Poverty is not having income for basic needs, food, medical care or basic needs and housing” (Crosson-Tower, 2014, p. 59). Poverty is affecting thousands of Americans every day, and it isn 't sparing anyone of a particular race, age or gender, leaving people on welfare, and without homes, or transportation. Poverty is a crisis that deserves attention from everyone, and it has many faces that are often not recognized
