The most controversial topic in the world, abortion, slowly arose an ache in my heart because it’s slowly became a norm and widely accepted in many cultures. I waited a while trying to find something that would catch my attention to begin writing my research paper; mid-September of 2016 Poland decided to change their abortion law. Originally the law stated that in the cases of rape, incest, fetal abnormalities, or the mother’s health is in danger then an abortion can take place. The new abortion law now restricts abortion no matter the case unless the mother’s life is in danger. When the news came out women from all over the world were enraged and protesting for women’s rights. It’s truly flabbergasting to witness how the world gets together …show more content…
Individualism happens when a person does what is good for themselves; the idea of “if it feels good do it”, “it’s your body you have the right to do what you wish”, “what benefits you”. These phrases I’ve heard so many times in throughout my life by various friends, colleagues, and even teachers. I was raised as a firm believer in God and in the Catholic faith; although there was a time I left because the ideals of being a perfect Catholic to me and too many others are unrealistic. While I was running around doing things that “felt good”, that “benefited me” and that at the time made me feel temporary happiness. In the back of my mind and in my heart nothing filled my heart with love or happiness although I was doing everything the world was telling me would make me happy. Before I knew it I was lost; I had no idea who I was anymore just another person in the crowd trying to be “different” only to find myself as a follower. Not to long after that I found myself back at church running back to the arms of my Father to protect me from all the horrible things out there. I decided to take a leap of faith and actually learn about my Catholic faith and learn about how beautiful God’s promises are to his children. I want to use this paper to prove that the world is filled with lies and false promises; and to prove how Individualism has been tearing us
Abortion is the process of intentionally ending a pregnancy. Abortion touches the hearts of many because its consequences result in the loss of a human life. Its controversy stems from the fact that people’s opinions on this matter are rooted in their value systems, religious beliefs, and political socialization. Its prominence in political discussions today is likely to continue given the relationship between unwanted pregnancies and overpopulation. There is often debate about the constitutionality of abortion, as it is not specifically addressed by any doctrine. As a result, there has never been an explicit national law enacted.
Abortion has been a complex social issue in the United States ever since restrictive abortion laws began to appear in the 1820s. By 1965, abortions had been outlawed in the U.S., although they continued illegally; about one million abortions per year were estimated to have occurred in the 1960s. (Krannich 366) Ultimately, in the 1973 Supreme Court case of Roe v. Wade, it was ruled that women had the right to privacy and could make an individual choice on whether or not to have an abortion during the first trimester of pregnancy. (Yishai 213)
Although there have been many debates about abortion since the middle of the 1800’s, it is still a large problem in current times do to the question regarding women’s equality and freedom under the topic of abortion: pro-life or pro-choice? There have been many restrictions put on abortion clinics and doctors recently in attempts to put abortion clinics out of business, ultimately ending abortion in some areas and states. Many women, such as poor and minorities, are unable to get an abortion due to the location of the clinics. The inconveniences of location, laws, and protests have brought down several abortion providers, which makes abortions difficult to get. Due to abortion being a sensitive topic amongst debates, many voters will listen to the candidate’s view on the subject and what the candidate will do about abortion restrictions. Even though some abortions are conducted incorrectly now, there were more prevalent problems back when abortion became a major topic.
Out of all modern social controversies, perhaps the most heated controversy is that of abortion. In today’s society you are either a Pro-life or a Pro-choice, there is not a middle ground. Pro-life are individuals who believe abortion is immoral and should be stop for the wellbeing of women and unborn babies. In contrast, the Pro-choice individuals do not necessarily promote abortion, they just believe women should be the ones to make decisions over their bodies and health. Although the two main sides of the abortion debate have concerns for human life, pro-life activists worries more about the fetus and morals, a clear difference from the pro-choice that worries more for the women and their rights. Based on the points I explored, the pro-choice arguments are stronger than pro-life arguments. Most of both groups arguments comes from peer-reviewed researches from well-known sources to support each individual concept. Effects on women,socio-politics, and fetus are some of the main point of conflicts between the pro-life and pro-choice advocates.

The historical right of abortion can be examined through the geographic themes of location and place; the responsibilities of abortion are determined through the geographic themes of movement, human environment, interaction, and region. Place is the historical events that led up to the demand for abortion was Roe V. Wade and the Supreme Court ruling for the women who can experience negative effects after birth and finally made the decision to legalize abortion on January 22, 1973. Location is the demand in rights occurred when pregnant single woman Roe spoke up about her situation and pleaded for the Supreme Court to allow abortion to be legal because of the stability of her health. Movement is how people reacted in different ways. People created pro-life and pro-choice opinions, which described how they felt about the particular subject of abortion, Pro-life believes that abortion should not be allowed under and circumstances and argue that life begins at conception. Pro-choice believes that abortion should be entirely up to the mother and argue that it should be allowed for women who experienced rape or incest. Human Environment interaction is how abortion impacted people in a variety of reasons and mainly on the society. Women who have an abortion are 10% more likely to have mental health issues and 34.9% more likely to commit suicide. Those

Originally thought to be a place for a woman and her doctor, politics has found a way to intervene. This is reproductive rights legislation, in which there are rules concerning abortion and often barriers such as a wait time and mandatory delays. I will be discussing the history of reproductive rights legislation. The aspect of reproductive rights legislation in particular I will be exploring is abortion. I will highlight why abortion is important to society and discuss my personal opinion of why I am passionate about this issue. I will delve into the key concepts of abortion which include pro-life and pro-choice

Texas is religiously based state which is more pro-life. The west coast media portrays good morals as well but they're also all for woman's rights. West coast is mainly pro-choice but if you're against abortion then you're against woman's rights. People in the west coast are more liberal and they are less conservative. A common debate in the world today involves abortion, the deliberate end of human pregnancy, and whether or not it should be legalized. “Every year in the world there are an estimated 40-50 million abortions. This corresponds to approximately 125,000 abortions per day” (“Abortions Worldwide this Year”). On one side of the argument, people are not disturbed by this grotesque number, and on the other side there are people outraged and simply appalled. Although people attempt to deem abortion acceptable in society because of circumstances like the mother not being able to support the child or in instances of rape, it is still morally wrong.
The recent protest against anti abortion laws in Poland was nothing short of that. People from over sixty different cities in Poland gathered in the heart of the nation, combining to form a total of anywhere between 24,000 and 100,000 people. These people were made up of both men and women, and a lot of which were students or employees who had been excused from class or work to protest. It is clear to see that even professional figures like deans of universities and managers of companies had a strong opinion on this topic (Grzymala-Busse). Although all of these people played a big role in protesting, the most outstanding group of people were those who supported anti abortion laws. These people agreed with the law issued by the Polish government, which would place a total ban on abortion, but because the law also stated that women who aborted their children would be sentenced to prison, these supporters protested against their own belief. This had shown the government of Poland that just about nobody agreed with the law
