Indonesian culture is, as my source suggests, a frozen asset, untouched by the government and to an extent, a bit of a constant in terms of the country itself. There are thousands of varying cultures in Indonesia; the islands themselves are very culturally diverse and cultural practices are still often carried out with a spirit of tradition.
According to personal research, 4 out of 10 individuals (of my nation - Indonesia) consider social networking to be unhelpful to culture and, to an extent, the bane of its existence. This may be due to the commonly-considered conception of digitalWith the usage of social networking sites such as Facebook and Twitter seeing an escalation in the last decade, the idea that human contact between individuals is diminishing may not be as farfetched as once was. Indeed, before the rise in social networking, telephones and human rendezvous saw more prominence in their practise, but how would those days differ from the ones we currently trudge through? The impact on culture, for example: how has, can and to what extent the use of social networking be used to affect culture? What effect, if any, will it have on foresaid culture? Here is a piece of information from the ACM Digital Library - “The increasing availability of the Web has been breaking down communication limitations in society and enabling the easy transcending of physical borders. Additionally, the emergence of social media like forums, blogs, wikis, podcasts, etc., is bringing
Social media has guided us to believe that we need to be connected to others. “…the social media revolution has not made us feel more connected, less lonely, or replete with friends” (Barna Group). Social media has input certain beliefs into the minds of people while also taking away that time that could be spent with friends and family. Social media has allowed people to put on fronts and believe that these are the only means of communication.
In today's time, social media is widely used by most people and most who use it claims that it is beneficial to their everyday lives. Many people argue that social media is bad for others because it is distracting them and causing themselves harm by falling or running into others but that is because they dont pay attention, with the right amount of awareness it is very helpful. For some the only way to stay connected to businesses, familly, friends, and world problems is through places like Facebook and Twitter. Social media is more helpful in more ways than one especially when trying to get communications long distances.
Our society has evolved very much over time. The technology, has impacted it greatly. With technology in our lives, we find ourselves ‘glued’ to our electronics. Now, the question is, what does social media provide us? In Wu’s article, he states, “The devices we use change the way we live much faster than any contest among genes.” Meaning, we rely on these devices to make us happy, and resort to them when we are bored. Similarly, in Castells article, he says, “Media often report that intense use of the Internet increases the risk of isolation, alienation, and withdrawal from society.” However, the article also says that social media has actually “increased sociability, civic engagement, and the intensity of family and friendship relationships, in all cultures.” Answering the question, we actually get something out of using social media. We are allowed to communicate with
Society today sees technology as a beneficial tool; however, it ultimately damages relationships by distorting the perception of what authentic human contact is. While providing the ability to keep in touch with friends around the world and share memories, social media definitely has negative effects on our society. For example, the fundamental criteria for what makes human contact authentic is damaged, and is at risk of extinction due to the role social media plays in our society.
Something that I have noticed in my study of my parent culture is its dominant preoccupation with social media. Social media has many positive features and is very useful for an individual as they can use it to promote business, literature, art, science or history and encourage others to do the same to whatever end. Social media has helped the growth of businesses and entrepreneurs, musical groups and artists, organizations and institutions all over the world. It has encouraged the growth of personal communications and even relationships between people who could not normally maintain the level of contact that they can through its resources and programs. However, as social media has become more and more dominant in today's modern societies, it has produced a negative latent
Social media has a great impact on the interpersonal relationships between people. Social media has a very wide and extensive reach throughout the world. However, does social media really have that much of an impact on regular day to day lives? How different would certain livelihoods and relationships be without the use of social media? I some ways, social media has been a godsend for introverts to be able to connect with real people without the need to physically get out of their comfort zone. In addition, extroverts will be more enticed to bring new people together as they make more social contacts near or far. This is showing that social media can greatly improve connectivity and availability access with other relationships. Therefore,
While many people put off and ignore the issue of social media and its downfalls, others say that people should think about how our lives are being affected by this advancement in technology, including, lack of human contact and precious time being lost due to consumption with social media. Social media is currently a highly controversial topic in which numerous people have mixed feelings. Society has typically viewed new advancements in technology as beneficial and a sign of success within their country. But, has it solely caused successful outcomes, or are there downfalls to these advancements?
Social networking has become a major part of society. Many people wake up each day and check social media websites specifically throughout Twitter and Facebook first thing in the morning instead of reaching for a newspaper. Since people are spending such a large amount of time surfing social networks, it is important to point out some of the positive and negative effects that social networking can have on a society. The positive effects of social networking sites are allow people to create new relationships and reconnect with friends and family. Increased communication, even online, strengthens relationships. And the other is social networking sites make people share everything that they want and bring people with common interests together, offer exposure to new ideas from around the world, and lower inhibitions to overcome social anxiety.
Technology has taken over our world. Electronics devices such as iPads, computers, Surfaces, and Smartphones make it easy for everyone to stay connected to social media. Technology is defined as “the application of scientific knowledge for practical purposes, especially in industry” Online Etymology Dictionary). Social media is defined “as websites and applications that enable users to create and share content or to participate in social networking” industry (Online Etymology Dictionary)”. Social media also allows us to meet new people. People also used social media to find a long lost family member or even a long lost friend. Some people actually use websites like this to keep in touch with loves ones well others use it to bully people or make fun of other people. Billions of active users on social media say they love it. Facebook has 1.86 billion users and counting. Social networking has taken over society but is this a beneficial or harmful matter. Many people believe that it is beneficial to society because it simplifies communication. Although that is true, it also deterrents face to face socializing. This occurs due to society spending more than half of its time on social media. Social media is detrimental to society because of bullying as well as lack of interaction and physical activity, along with online hackers.
Society is constantly changing and will continue to change in the future. The change is predictable because people change their ideas, routines, and views frequently. One of the topics that is typically brought up when discussing the influences on how society is changing, is social networking. There are two sides to every story. One side of the effects of social networking is that it is beneficial to society by informing people on particular situations in the world and on current important events. The other side views social networking as dangerous and drama filled. While there are benefits and dangers to social networking's effects on society, I will argue that social networking has changed society more negatively than positively.
Social media has become the norm and often the most utilized means of communicating with others. People of all ages have become exposed to the world of social networking. . For many people assessing social media has become a part of their daily routine. Social media negatively impacts society due to its addictiveness, exposing users to cyberbullying, negative impact on productivity, and the mental health effects on users.
Social networking is an arguable topic; some people think it’s a good tool, but others are worried about the impact it has on people’s lives. Social networking has lots of good points. You can express yourself, showing off your favorite song, or posting pictures of your new outfit. It is harder to feel embarrassed over the internet than in person, so people find it easier to vent their feelings on social media such as Facebook and Instagram. Also, you can learn someone’s life story just by checking their page. Their friends, likes and dislikes, relationship status, phone number, address... basically everything. You can share your feelings as well, and it is a good way to relax yourself after a busy day. Moreover, it makes it a lot easier to keep in touch with family and friends, especially if they live far away. You can also make new friends via social media. On the other hand, even though social media has a lot of positives, it has negatives as well. Social media can ruin relationships as people may get jealous if they find out their boyfriend or girlfriend is exchanging messages with others. More importantly, it can be a waste of time as people can visit a site to check on thing and end up spending the whole day ‘behind the screen’ and as a result, not doing anything useful with their lives.
Many of Us for the most part has been affected by social media in their daily person to person interaction now days, the texting, email and media account like “Facebook” just to mention one of them ,has been eliminating the phone calls, letter or even deeper, it is affecting our relationship with our families and friends because is more distance .
