For social work students, the outlook for career paths in the field looks very good right now, due to different factors including age, ethnicity, and family structures. Main focuses are now shifting to important topics like women, children, older individuals, and military veterans. Growth is present in almost every aspect of social work, with the most prominent present in fields related to communities, mental health, counselors and therapists, probation and correctional officers, and treatment facilities. Most of the jobs emerging will be located in cities, but there will be job opportunities for those with a BSW. I found it interesting that there are about 650,000 social workers currently, and by 2020, there will be about 811,700. It made this list because it is not as stressful or physically demanding as other jobs may be. I will admit that I was surprised to read this information because based off of the information I’ve read and heard from others, it seems to me like it would be a stressful job, but the pros of the job outweigh the cons. I feel that those who are serious about becoming a social will do whatever it takes, as they have seen or experienced things that lead them to better the lives of other people, no matter what. Primary areas of practice for social work are areas dealing with children, families, and mental health. A large number of social workers will probably be leaving public, nonprofit jobs, and move to private, for-profit jobs, which essentially brings costs down to offer clients cheaper services. Even though social workers have salaries below that of other professions, it is improving, and in 2010, the average salary for a social worker was between $30,000 to $50,000, with $5,000- $8,000 more with a certificate or
