For the majority of the work that social workers do and aim to accomplish, I strongly believe that agents of social change best describes their profession. In others words, they want to build a society that promotes and practices love and equality. A society that caters to the needs of all mankind, and a society that lifts each other up in order to defeat all types of oppression. Social workers fight against oppression, they are never on the side of the oppressor. Social workers strive for a society that exercise freedom and equality for all. They advocate for all mankind regardless of skin color, racial back ground, religion, sexual orientation, disability, socio economic status, education, etc. They aim to create a society where everyone can …show more content…

They work to eliminate barriers that are forcing minorities to remain at the bottom of the social mobility ladder, and is ensuing that minorities have control over what they can and cannot do, instead of allowing the inequalities of society to dictate their status and what they can accomplish. With the many recent attacks, racisms and violent behaviors such as the Las Vegas massacre, the protest of white supremacist in Virginia, police brutality, and sexual harassments, social workers strive to eliminate these behaviors and instead spread love, and create an atmosphere which allows everyone to not live in fair. The social work profession was designed to bring out the best in everyone and to spread love. It was also designed to eliminate all forms of oppression without using oppressive tactics. Social workers are agents of social change because even though society has come very far trying to eliminate oppression, the journey is not yet complete. There is still a lot of work to be done, especially with all the violence that is happening in and around us.
