I agree that using both evidence based and common factors approach as social workers is important. By combining both approaches in a clients treatment, I think it will help provide him or her with a unique intervention that can be appreciated. It helps when a social worker takes the time to understand the client as an individual because it makes it more comfortable for the client to respond to the overall treatment.
For this paper, I have decided to research two social work theories and how those theories apply to residents in long term care facilities. The primary focus will be those residents who are alert, oriented, and showing minimal symptoms of dementia.
Does using the chlorhexidine-impregnated (CHG) dressings for coverage of the central venous catheters (CVCs) insertion site prevent catheter colonization and reduce the rate of central line-associated bloodstream infections (CLABSIs)?
In order to work effectively and appropriately with vulnerable and marginalised groups in society such as individuals with mental illnesses, it is fundamental for a social worker to have a comprehensive knowledge base and proficient skills.
Scenario Three: It’s coming up on the end of the year and Julie, the Gen Z officer you’re advising, is supposed to be planning a senior event celebrating the graduating seniors and connecting them with the local alumnae association. The alumnae association President calls you to express her concern that the chapter officer wants to completely change their typical event.
Concerning the process for delivering the intervention solution, the study similarly follows Roger’s Diffusion of Innovation (DOI) Theory. And, as an individual goes through the process of acceptance of an intervention, similarly the process will achieve delivery. To start, potential participants will become aware of a new medicine called, TCI. Also, they will learn of it’s necessity and use in the treatment of eczema, through either direct provider contact or a variety of advertising methods promoting TCI in the office setting, website, and phone line. Secondly, potential participants will make a decision to either accept or decline the use of TCI. Thirdly, participants will start initial utilization of TCI.
As I get out of the car, I hear a girl screaming in the distance. Hearing such a noise instantly made me feel a chill go down my spine. As I walk against my own fear, I approach an overwhelming sign that says “Welcome to Six Flags over Texas”. My mother looks at me with a huge smile, reassuring me that there is nothing to be afraid of. Being only 8 years old at the time, I was a very hyper and ecstatic kid. Going against my own fears, I timidly rushed to the entrance. As I stood there before this monstrosity of amusement, my jaw was on the floor with astonishment. Leaving me in a state of shock,I could only slowly walk in with aw, and marvel at what was before me.
Although the worker failed to identify with some of the issues the resident of the long-term care facility was having to be a potentially harmful situation moving forward it is evident that they used a lack of professionalism to report the matter due to future risks. “Patricia Stone, Arlene Smaldone, and Robert Lucero (2011) reports nurses are in the position of being “at the sharp end” of health care interventions by being the patient's advocate, providing care that may result in an error, or witnessing the error(s) of other clinicians. Accidents, errors, and adverse outcomes result from a chain of events involving human decisions and actions associated with active failures and latent failures. Many of these failures are associated with individual
The main purpose for an evaluation is for feedback. Different professionals have different forms or other means of evaluation for their patient/clients. Below is a link for a social worker performance evaluation conducted by the Lower Kuskikwim School Distrist of Bethel, Alaska.
The author was very thorough in the discussion of his study. The author used a statistical table to show each area covered in the survey. The author also covered in detail the procedures they used and how they found their study subjects and the programs use to affect a positive outcome.
This essay will identify key issues facing the client system and will demonstrate an intervention plan. Followed by defining the purpose of social work and the identification of the AASW Code of Ethics, in regards to the case study. Lastly, key bodies of knowledge will be identified and applied to the case study.
The three most effective intervention tools I would suggest to effectively intervene with the veteran population are cognitive behavioral therapy and narrative therapy. Cognitive behavioral therapy is a form of psychotherapy that seeks to change the way a person behaves or thinks in order to promote positive feelings or actions using a goal-oriented approach. Cognitive behavioral therapy draws on theories of learning and memory as well as the cognitive model. The cognitive model “proposes that distorted or dysfunctional thinking underlies all psychological disturbances. Furthermore, dysfunctional thinking has an important effect on our mood and behavior,” (Ledley, 2010). In order to adapt CBT techniques to the veteran population, seek a deeper understanding of the client’s background and how their time in the military may have caused distorted thinking that may lead to maladaptive behaviors. I would also ask the client for their own input in regards to their needs and issues they face. I would then create a framework by which I could create a treatment plan to
As a medical and health social worker, I would act in many of the roles that make becoming a physician fulfilling to me. The most important part of entering the health care field is to care for the health of others, especially those facing barriers to good care. As a social worker I would not be able to directly provide a diagnosis or treatment but I would play a necessary role in helping people access care, whether assisting through navigating the health care system, financial problems, or other barriers. Furthermore, I would still be able to work face to face with patients, provide emotional support and provide the education to help them make important medical decisions. I plan to play as many of these roles as possible as a physician, but
Social work intervention is the practice of working with people in a different ways supporting them to become more independent. While working with P I had to develop a professional relationship using a person centred approach. Person centred approached (PCA) was developed by Carl Rogers (1961) and is psychodynamic approach used when working with people. For PCA to be effective there needs to be three main principles that are I had to use be understating, give unconditional positive regard and be genuine.
Carl Fleischer, a 17-year-old high school student was sent to the Social Workers office to discuss issues that might be the cause of his failing grades. The school Social Worker wanted to learn about Carl and asked him open and closed ended questions about is daily life style. Carl is not socially active in school and spends most of his time at work 4 nights a week, or at home playing his Xbox. Carl smokes cigarettes and marijuana and associates himself with teens who practice the same behavior that he meets up with at his place of employment. Carl was told by his doctor that he is overweight and that he should exercise and quit smoking. Carl is an only child and lives with his mother. Carl’s father left when mom was pregnant and has remained absent.
