I want to becoming a social worker, because when I was doing voluntary work with Asylum seekers at PAFRAS , organisation based here in Britain. I am a reliable, motivated, and responsible student, who has the key skills and knowledge that are essential for the social work sector. I am used to working to high standards and being friendly to all people from different backgrounds; I am always enthusiastic to learn new things and interested in working with vulnerable people. I consider myself to be a good communicator, a team leader and motivator, who can get along well with people from all social, ethnic or cultural backgrounds. I am very energetic in my approach to work, and have a high work ethic, which makes me eager to get on with my studies
My main reason for applying to the Simmons School of Social Work is that it is an accredited university with an excellent reputation as an educational institution and offers an MSW program that is predominantly online. I attended Thomas Edison State University online and earned my bachelor’s degree with a GPA of 3.9. Once I made the decision to continue my education, I searched for MSW programs that were available online with CSWE accreditation in compliance with New Jersey State social work licensure. I found that Simmons’s specialized program in clinical social work is well suited for my educational needs.
As a woman diagnosed with social anxiety,I was entrusted to be under the care of a social worker so as to help me manage my disorder. Personally, I have gone through so many experiences which collectively made me develop a deeper insight into the roles of social workers as compared to other health caregivers. Besides that, I have seen a lot of transformative supports to people who have various social problems provided through the selfless care of the social workers. Subsequently, this further fueled my ambition to study and support the most disadvantaged and vulnerable persons in the society. I firmly believe that my motivation towards helping
The decision to take the clinical route as a second year MSW graduate student, was one that took no hesitation to make. My passion for children and the preservation of families have been a propelling factor in my Social Work career; both academically and professionally. These two entities have motivated me to remain steadfast on the journey to obtaining my MSW so I can continue to be a vessel for children and families who are in need of support and empowerment. The clinical spectrum of social work practice has strengthened my ability to work proficiently with multiple clients and perform well when assisting families in different realms of social work practice. The knowledge gained during my four years as an undergraduate BSW student and
I am interested in the MSW program at Walden University because of the objectives of the program to make sure that their students learn what it is that they are suppose too. I am also interested in the Master of Social Work program here at Walden because of the teachers working in the field and having firsthand knowledge about the field. The Master of Social Work program at Walden also have the concentration that I am interested in which is Children and Family Services. My plans for after I receive my degree is to become a license social worker. I also plan to start working at either the department of family and children services or at a local adoption agency.
I have had some experiences with helping others when my mom was diagnosed with an infection that infiltrated her eye and she wasn't able to do anything because it was spreading to different parts of her body and I was the main one to take care of her when she was on medicine that would leave her weak and not being able to do anything at all. This personal experience of having to take care of my mother made it very certain that my decision is clear that this is what I would like to get into, becoming a social worker. Some people do not have the ability to distinguish being a nurture vs. nature and I can because I have been a nurture at a very young age, I have great organizational skills which have taught me to make my time more manageable and effectively while taking care of my mother while taking classes to further my education. Taking course from this university and qualifying as a social worker, I would believe that I can and will achieve and be a supportive member of this society. When I was growing up I had an aunt and a uncle worked with child and family services, I would see them become foster parents to young men who they left an impression on their life and those young men are grown now and being a perfect example of why I would want to study in this field as a social worker, This is certainly an area I would like to gain more knowledge
My passion for helping the vulnerable is one reason I ‘am inspired to become a social worker. I also want to be available to provide support to those who have nowhere else to turn. My experience in social work has taught me to celebrate the small victories towards positive changes. I look forward to gaining the skills and knowledge to aid me in becoming a successful social worker.
What personal qualities equip you for the social work
As a veteran of the U.S. Army, I have always been committed to selfless service. It seems to be a natural transition to pursue a career as a social work educator and researcher. As an educator, I would like to enhance students' ability to observe, critique, and question the things that they learn regarding social issues. This will enable students to become stronger advocates for social justice while allowing them to think critically about how the larger societal systems have an impact on the lives of individuals, families, and communities. My pursuit of research stems from the desire to gain and add knowledge around issues that impact urban communities.
I cannot emphasize enough the passion I have for child welfare services, I like helping individuals, children to be exact. I cannot see myself doing anything else with my life I never wanted to do anything else in life. I have demonstrated a great deal of capacity for success in the Indiana child welfare scholars program by a number of things: one, staying commented to one major; two presenting myself as a practicing child welfare worker; three, pushing myself to always do better in my classes. Once I knew I wanted to go to college in order to achieve my dream social work was my only option. If I did anything else it would have been for the money I would not have been for the right respectable reasons.
I know that being a social worker could be very challenging and requires a lot of hard work and dedication. I willing to dedicate my time and effort by learning
Personal and Professional Statement My work and volunteer experience where aspects that encouraged my pursuit of a profession in social work I was a full-time volunteering at the YMCA Youth Institute. Much like a social worker, I held the responsibility of evaluating the weekly progress of each student, while accessing his or her individual needs. In addition to volunteering at YMCA, I also worked as a Senior Peer Advisor in the Educational Outreach Program through UC Santa Barbara. There, I gained experience working one-on-one with the students, dealing with numerous hardships.
I believe that my undergraduate coursework and my work experiences have adequately prepared me for this opportunity. Upon completing my undergraduate studies, I wanted to fully engage myself in the social work field and refine my acquired skill sets through extensive education and also be able to apply this education in a practical setting. Being a first generation American, I have seen and experienced many of the obstacles my parents faced when immigrating to America ranging from financial instability, to cultural and language barriers, and to overall limiting beliefs. Seeing and experiencing this drove me to help people work through many of the same challenges my family and I experienced.
The vision I have for my career in Social Work is so bright and endless. Within my four years here at Mason, I'm going to graduate with a BSW in Social Work with a minor in Public Health then I hope to go for my Masters as well. With my Master's in hand, I would like to work in the healthcare field may be going into the hospital field. In the future, I hope the field of Social Work, in general, gets more respect and not just seen in the light of separating families. In my time of taking my Social Work class, I learned that Social Workers jobs all look so different.
I am applying to the two year program at Stony Brook University because I want to further my education so that I can pursue my goal of helping others achieve a successful and productive life. My passion originates from realizing that there is a need for social workers who can make a difference in people’s life by being supportive and providing the necessary aid needed for everyday survival. Later I would like to take on social work at macro level, as most importantly, it is necessary to respect and protect children's rights, promote
