Socialization is a process of learning and internalizing certain norms and values of one’s society so that one can function as the participant of that society. Every society has their own accepted roles, beliefs, language, accepted values, norms, skills and many other essential patterns of thought and certain actions which only through the process of socialization one can learn and behave in a way that is acceptable in a society. The process of socialization begins from the first breath of an individual and continue throughout the life. Its importance lies in survival, individual who adopts and approves the accepted established roles of particular society , his/her survival is easy. Individuals own identity, thoughts , beliefs , actions depends on how he or she is socialized. Ian Robertson (1987), defines socialization as the “ process of social interaction through which people acquire personality and learn the way of life of their society”.
Society and culture are interlinked together they construct identities, roles, beliefs ,other stereotypes and transformed it from one generation to another through the process of socialization. Society tries to maintain the established norms through various socializing agents such as home, academic institutions like schools ;college; universities, religious institutions like mosque, church, temples , state, electronic media, social media, etc
