Society in its greatest forms is diverse however, nowadays it seems that much has changed. People are now saying that they themselves are diverse except as Mr. Kenneth Gibbs Jr. said, “diversity is a property of groups, not individuals”. This idea that diversity cannot be found in any one person and only in a group shows that society has a lot to gain from supporting it. In many ways this has changed though, society, as seen in the next few paragraphs, has gone through a horrible change that has led to it segregating certain cultures and praising others. This will only further show that society has much to gain from supporting a culturally diverse community and environment.

What he is saying is that the word diversity is so overused that it has been warped to fit the ideal American. This is causing the segregation and hatred for others in this new generation, but it is also causing more acceptance.
Children, the new generation, nowadays are more acceptable to different cultures and the people in them. They, as the future of any culture, have mostly managed to grasp the concept of being accepting. This something that their parents haven’t quite yet understood. In New Zealand Kirsty Johnson, an education reporter, wrote about the kids going to school New Zealand and how they were with the cultural difference between themselves and the other students. “One student was specifically asked about the others reacted to her headscarf, she merely replied, ‘no one cares’”. As Kristy stated, “Race is of no particular concern to the kids, though they 're proud of where they come from”, she is stating that the kids of this school show no judgment towards each other, this level of accepting is just one of the things that society can gain by being supportive of the cultural difference in any environment. Another thing that society can gain from an environment of culturally diverse people is that they will know more about the many different cultures around them.
It is important that society learns that not everyone that is different is
The point is, we are all different. Yet the differences that we have between us can be used to strengthen society as we know it. Diversity enables us to have the opportunity to learn, develop, and understand different ways of living, and experience our lives to the fullest. Without diversity, we are closed or boarded off in our own worlds. But with it, we expand our knowledge and we are no longer ignorant. When you are aware of the differences and embrace them, then you have taken the blind fold off to living differently and you are a better person for it. The key is exposure and using what you learned to increase more tolerance and decrease things such as racism.
Our country is a good example of what diversity means. Globalization has increased rapidly, making our society a more diverse place. Where individuals from foreign places with different cultures, race, and languages all unite to become one. As one of my favorite novelist, F. Scott Fitzgerald, once said, “The rich are different from you and me.” (Walter Benn Michaels 725) The problem here is that Fitzgerald failed to realize that the “rich” were the same as everyone else, except with more money. A diverse society represents a country with various people of color, socioeconomics, national origin, etc. Although we are all different yet, the same, and come from different places, race, color, gender, and socioeconomics, nobody is looked down upon nor superior to the other.
I agree with many of your statements, that you expressed throughout your paper. It’s crazy to think that as Americans, we don’t care about diversity. But, I also can see why individuals prefer to be around others that are similar to themselves. As, Americans if we are surrounded by others similar to ourselves, we are able to express our emotions to one another. Living in the 21st century, Americans should not be afraid to become more diverse. For instance, an African American family should not be afraid to move into a neighborhood with the majority being a Caucasian population. But, as time goes on I hope as a country we can all evolve and accept the fact that everyone is different.
I believe that "Diversity" plays important roles in our lives. Without diversity, we cannot widen our field of view. Diversity helps us to open up our eyes and our world. From reading the essay "How diversity makes us smarter", written by Katherine W Phillips, I learned that there are some negative effects brought up by the social diversity where dialog of inclusion is advanced, but mostly diversity is something that has positive effect in our society and even individual. I could also reflect and make connection with my experience of moving from non diverse community to diverse community.
Diversity is an ongoing discussion in day-to-day life. Not many situations occur without diversity having a role. There are a multitude of topics that introduces or involves diversity, to include age, sex, race, gender, ethnicity and so on. Prior to participating in this Diversity Awareness class, I’ve always thought diversity was more geared around discrimination and racism. Through weekly readings and discussions, I have discovered that diversity is much broader than that. There are many countries that are mixed culturally
Diversity is an important and beautiful concept in our society and this essay will prove why. Reasons to support this are it makes each individual life worthwhile, it helps us evolve and become better and it can build closer relationships.
There are some positive social impacts and some negative. A positive is that the people of some communities were brought closer together. Many people were affected socially because a huge amount of houses were torn apart and many of their memories were destroyed. About 30 people were reported injured due to the cyclone so some people’s families were worried about those people. Luckily no people were killed in the disaster so no one was upset about that.
Modern societies are described most effectively against the background of what came before them. The process of modernity is reactive; it’s meaning is derived by a comparison with, and by rejection or negation of preceding agrarian and industrial societies. Traditional, or pre-modern societies take as their basic unit the community or the collective. The family constitutes production and consumption as well as socialization, indicative of a rudimentary division of labour. Further, traditional societies facilitate a worldview that is wholly comprehensive. Durkheim describes this as the ‘collective consciousness’. People derive their outlook largely through the different ways that they interact with society, and because these societies have high degrees of similarity, and a shared set of moral values and beliefs, members experience the world in similar ways.
Morals are a person’s belief system of what is fundamentally right and wrong. This system is shaped and molded throughout life, and is constantly evolving and fluctuating. Many factors influence one’s morals. Different events in life, different environments, and the people which surround individuals. Two of the most influence groups of people which influence people’s morals are family and friends. One would think family has the greatest impact on morals. Family, more specifically parents or guardians, lay the base work of morality. Family ascribe onto their children the basis of a moral code. But it is friends which have the greatest impact on a person’s believe system and moral principles. This is because people are born into their families, meaning people cannot help what principles are assigned to them (Friedman 196). Friends are voluntary and chosen, meaning friends have a greater impact on moral growth compared to family or other close relationships. Friendship, in a way, is essential and critical for moral growth.
Deconstructionism has impacted society today due to the effects of reading and the difficulty of defining the word from the sole creator, Jacques Derrida, and how other philosophers have influenced it. Although there is a definition for the school of thought Deconstructionism, it has been confused with different definitions due to the influences of other philosophers on the definition given by Derrida. One philosopher that influenced Deconstructionism was Friedrich Nietzsche, whom we usually associate to Nihilism. The other philosopher that influenced this school of thought was Ferdinand de Saussure, who was one of the two founders of semiology. “It must be noted that Derrida 's style of writing contributed not only to his great popularity but also to the great animosity some felt towards him. His style is frequently more literary than philosophical and therefore more evocative than argumentative” (Lawlor).
influence in the society. So I would argue that if we were completely isolated from any kind of social life, for example alone in an island with no family or friend missing us, everything would be easier because nobody would judge us, but since we are hopelessly tied to share everything we have in a community, at some point, we will feel bad about eating the chocolate instead of the peach. The society imposes standards that we are forced to follow. If we are rebellious, we are going to be punished for those who decide what is morally right and what is not, and just like that, our apparently free will is not as free as we think it is.
To begin, I want to start with how much society means to a person. Many may not notice that some people act and do what they do because of society's standards. Society has became a huge competition for many people on the way they dress and how they look. In addition, social media has a huge impact on this one problem. Women today go on social media to see what other people are wearing or doing for the day. Social media is not the main cause but it is one of the big causes of this problem we have. Women choosing to change how they look is becoming a huge problem in the world. Everyone wants to have that perfect body that everyone talks about, when in reality everyone is perfect in their own way. Society has set the standards for how a persons body should look, and how their facial appearance should appear.

A society is generally recognized as a group of people living together in the same geographical area that typically share the same beliefs and culture. Society is also heavily influenced by a number of other factors, one of the most predominant ones being music. Many musical artists nowadays write songs in response to world events and to express their feelings toward their society. The song "Where Is the Love?" by the Black Eyed Peas is representative of today's society by referring to how it is insensitive, hypocritical, and divided.
People think that they have control of their lives. While this is true there are many factors that influence that control and sometimes that influence is so strong that it overcomes a person’s intentions. Society influences and effect people every day and comes in many different ways. From the constant peer pressure that teens face to how much someone’s potential income is, it is often times affected by society. In order to fix the negative effects of society, we must first understand what causes them.
