The sociological critique of human societies has helped to outline a profound understanding of community development and the construction of poverty. From this position we think probable the intentional positioning of people to fulfill low wage responsibilities while at the same time assuring that these roles support social synergy.

The types of violence that generate the greatest threats to social and emotional functioning are not clearly understood, but what is known is exposure to violence has been noted to be greater within ethnic minority groups. (Youth Exposure to Violence; 2001) Such as African Americans and Latino adolescents, who typically generate the highest level of exposure to violence. The adverse effects of these stresses on the human body over extended periods of time, have demonstrated the capacity to produce great consequences. One such consequence is the release of the bodies stress hormone; Cortisol. Cortisol in part, is responsible for circulatory regulation, along with heart, lungs and immune function. During stressful events it influences the brains frontal lobe, effecting short-term memory, concentration, inhibitions and rational thinking; the bodies fight or flight mechanisms. During stress filled events the brain goes into survival mode, limiting essential functions, increasing adrenaline, heart rate and blood flow to essential combat areas. When the primary stress hormone is in a state of constant activation, physical and psychological changes take place. In addition, those that secure residence in highly segregated, economically impoverished neighborhoods, who were subjected to the likelihood of violence, crime, overcrowding or high turnover were at an even greater risk for adverse mental health conditions. (Williams and Morris 2000) concluding that the social construction of poverty is a pathogenic phenomenon. Researchers understand that the subjective experiences of violence, discrimination and racism over time can induce negative health consequences. Pieterse, Todd, Neville and Carter (2012) sampled 815 Black / African American respondents between 12 and 30 years old.
