I love sociology because it is a field that is endless. Meaning, there are so many career paths one can go in with this degree and one is never limited to one career choice. I have friends that have a sociology degree that are working in the DFACS office that deal with human resources. My friend went to Albany State, and graduated with a sociology degree and does case work at a local DFACs office in town. She said it didn’t take long for her to find a job and plans on getting her master degree in a couple of months. One of my high school teachers had a master’s degree in sociology and before settling in with teaching she did different things like working in the advising and admissions office at her old college. Sociology, is the study of the
When you think about a teacher, you automatically think about someone who teaches kids for a living. Being a teacher doesn’t have to be just teaching children on a daily basis. Teachers are the reasons why a lot of children have grown to love learning and appreciate the effort their teacher has put into their education. Teachers are very important in today’s society and they do a lot for everyone. Teachers aren’t just there to make lesson plans, grade papers, and write on black-boards. Teachers are around because they want to give children a proper education.
I want to be a nurse practitioner when I grow up. A nurse practitioner ,or commonly known as NP, can treat and diagnose illnesses and can also conduct lab tests.(“Welcome to Top Master’s In Healthcare Administration”)
in sociology. However, sociology is a major that prepares students for a number of different entry-level jobs as alternatives to graduate school. The goal is to enhance your chances of finding meaningful employment after graduation. First, decide what you want to do. A clear career goal is the essential first step of any career search. It doesn't have to be a lifetime goal, just a plan of action for now. The Career Services Center has many services available to help you identify an occupation you'd like to pursue. There are workshops and information sessions focusing on specific occupational areas, computerized career guidance programs, printed resources on various occupations, videotapes, and helpful advisers who can assist you in putting all the information together. Next get practical, work-related experience. For students who enter the job market, studies have shown that part-time practical experience is a significant factor of their college years that helped them to achieve success. Graduates who had such experience consistently show a lower unemployment rate, higher salaries, and better career potential for their jobs than those without it. Even if you decide to go on to graduate or professional school, admissions committees for advanced degrees favor candidates with such experience. In addition, practical experience can help you decide what you might like to do in the work force. By testing an occupation before committing to a full-time career, you can see if it suits you. Lastly, as you begin your job search it is important to remember that not all methods work equally well for all types of
I have been working on my academic career for many years now. I am currently in my third year of community college, and have come across multiple teachers who have helped and inspired me in many ways. A teacher not only teaches the content of their course, but life skills as well. They are kind, caring, considerate, and understanding of their students. A teacher who goes above and beyond for their students is one that will make a difference. One teacher who I believe has made all the difference to me, was my accounting professor.
Our world gets more digital every day. Nearly everyone has a smartphone and a computer. Even more people have a TV and if people do they are in contact with the digital world everyday.
The work space for an aviationist is wide open and increasing. There is a lot of jobs for an aviationist such as an engineer mechanic, serve technicians, avionics technicians, aircraft mechanics, aerospace engineering, and airline and commercial pilots. The reason I chose this career is because I have some family that went to college to learn about aviation and after researching about aviation and all it has to offer I realized that the job is wide open and increasing plus it is a great paying job. It is important to understand the education requirements needed for this particular career when making this decision.
“But whether small or great, and no matter what the stage or grade of life, the call rings up the curtain, always, on a mystery of transfiguration—a rite, or moment, of spiritual passage, which, when complete, amounts to a dying and a birth” ( Campbell 42). When I was young, I had a lot of dream careers or jobs. Every time I watch a movie I always get inspired on doing whatever the career of the main character is. For example, after I watch a war or an action movie like the Lone Survivor or a James Bond movie, I immediately want to aspire on becoming a military soldier or a spy. It takes time and maturity to fully realize what I wanted to become. But since the beginning I know for sure that becoming a writer or any career that relates to writing is not my call to adventure. I hate writing a lot because I sucked on it. I just
In my career research report, I am going to be trying to accomplish some of my goals. I feel like it’s time to start planning for my future and what I want to do with it, so a main goal is to find a suitable career for me. I have already seen some amazing career opportunities for me to think about. Though I really hope I can get at least an A on my research paper and make sure I enjoy the whole process of doing this project.
Graduating from high school is vital for many different reasons, one of them being that it dictates the foundation of your entire future. Given that I am only in high school, I still have to take my future into my own hands, beginning with my pursuit to becoming an Obstetrician/ Gynecologist (OB/GYN). An “OB/GYN helps women with pregnancy, childbirth, general care and women with diseases in the reproductive system” (“Summary”). I chose this career because I want to make miracles happen and bring life into this world. It is important to understand the education or training requirements, skills and talents needed, salary and benefits offered and the duties for this particular career in making this decision.
Throughout my life, I always wondered what my profession would be when I grew up. My first choice was to be a nurse because I love to help people and make sure that they are well taken care of. When I reached high school, my thoughts about nursing tapered off because other careers interested me even more, such as becoming a lawyer. As I began researching more and more about lawyers, I talked to my work based learning teacher at school, and she recommended a part time job at a law firm. I began calling around, and entering my senior year of high school, I received my first job at a law firm. The first days of working at the law firm, I was extremely excited because I thought that I would be one step closer to reaching my goals as an attorney. I had the privilege of seeing what the attorneys did throughout the day, however as my experience in the firm progressed, my interest in becoming an attorney dwindled. I then realized I was back to square one and was extremely discouraged, because I did not know what I wanted to do with my life.
For my research paper , I hope to accomplish many goals. I believe itś very important that I start looking at the future so I know what job i may way want to do in the future. I hope to see the amazing opportunities I can have by looking ahead at jobs and see what job best fit me. Introduction- For my research paper I hope to see some amazing opportunities for me that way I can start looking at the perfect college for me to go to and maybe start saving up for it. I hope to accomplish these goals in life so that way I could be successful in life and hopefully be a big influence on some people.
J.K. Rowling once said, “Imagination is not only the uniquely human capacity to envision that which is not, and therefore the fount of all innovation. In its arguably most transformative and revelatory capacity, it is the power to that enables us to empathize with humans whose experiences we have never shared” (“J. K. Rowling Quotes."). I want to be a writer. A writer is a person who is a fountain of imagination and innovation. A writer is a creator of worlds, a spinner of new realities and master of creativity. When I was younger, I would often spend hours sitting up in trees, my feet dangling and swinging lightly to an unknown rhythm; I would listen as the outside world seemingly stood still. My younger sister would always be a few branches away, and she would plead for stories. I spun worlds of monsters and heroes, worlds full of love and magic and insanity. I would become immersed in my stories as my listeners, and started jotting down concepts that would come to me during a dull day. Once, I had a journal full of oddball ideas and intrepid adventures. I adore my gift, and it’s inspired me to become a professional writer so I can give my ideas a new life, and become real.
I have always wanted to be in the social work field ever since I started classes at Troy. Unfortunately, Troy in Montgomery did not offer social work classes; therefore, I chose sociology. I have enjoyed taking sociology courses, because it teaches you a lot about social inequality, social institutions, and the way people live in society. Sociology is a lot of research on a wide scale. On the contrary, social workers aide in direct assistance with individuals.
In the beginning of my college career, I was so sure that I wanted to major in education and follow in my father’s footsteps. Growing up, some of my fondest memories were from where my siblings and I would help my father decorate his classroom for the upcoming school year. I remember thinking that I couldn’t wait to decorate my own classroom one day. My dad was a history teacher and history never resonated well with me, math was more my thing. I went into college dead set on majoring in math education. I followed this major until I got to Calculus II and was completely shut off. Cal II legitimately made me hate my major. As to be expected this made me very discouraged in my major of choice. I remember feeling stuck in a major that I was afraid
