Many Christians believe that Solomon was the wisest king that lived. Those who know of Solomon may ask why God would choose a child to lead His people. After doing some research and reading on my own, I have drawn my own conclusion on why God might have chosen a child to lead a nation. King Solomon was the third and the greatest king of Israel. He was the second son of David by his wife Bathsheba and as some may say, David’s favorite. Solomon is most widely known for being just and having great wisdom. When Solomon was named the new king of Israel, he wanted to be able to rule his people with wisdom. The fact that Solomon asked for wisdom over long and joyful life, great power and wealth, serves to make us admire him because he put the prosperity of his people before his own wants. ' 'Solomon 's wisdom was greater than the wisdom of all the men of the Earth ' ' (1 Kings 4:30). He used the wisdom God gave him to rule over his nation and to educate the people. This further helped him to become famous not only among his people, but also among other nations. ' 'Man of all nations came to listen to Solomon 's wisdom, sent by all the kings of the world, who had heard of his wisdom ' ' (1 Kings 4:34). Apart from having a great wisdom, Solomon was also a just and discerning judge. We all remember story in which two women ask him to decide who is the real mother of the child is the most famous example in which Solomon uses his discerning heart to judge his people. Solomon didn 't even need any evidence or the witnesses to make the right judgement. 1 Kings 3:16-28: 16 Now two prostitutes came to the king and stood before him. 17 One of them said, “Pardon me, my lord. This woman and I live in the same house, and I had a baby while she was there with me. 18 The third day after my child was born, this woman also had a baby.
