In Puritan era, there were many poet's that wrote about people's struggle. Although, every poet had their own way of perception about the situation, they had more or less same purpose. The purpose was to express how much people were suffered and describe the process how to get people off from those hardships. However, there were poets that wrote about people's suffering. For example, Anne Bradstreet, Mary, and Edward.
Anne Bradstreet was a passionate writer about Puritan's sight on salvation and redemption in her poetry. Anne's poem talked about what happened to her personal life after her house got burnt . Anne's poem" Here follows some Verses upon the Burning of our House", showed living through a struggle can bring her closer to God. The following stanza describes the pain she felt in dealing with the burning of her house;
My pleasant things in ashes lie
And them behold no more shall I.(233) . In addition to this The following stanza starts by saying,
And when I could no longer look,

She wrote how people were treating her and her children. She had an ambition that she could escape. After that, she handle to escape and went home safe. she had a solid faith that we could see in her poems. In "A Narrative of the Captivity and Restoration of Mrs. Mary Rowlandson", Rowlandson writes that: "Thus nine days I sat upon my knee, with my babe in my lap, till my flesh was raw again; my child being even ready to depart this sorrowful world, they bade me carry it out to another wigwam (I suppose because they wouldn't be troubled with such spectacles) whither I went with a very heavy heart, and down I sat with the picture of death in my lap.
