Statement of Purpose
I have been growing up in a family that owns a construction materials dealer business in Chiang Mai, Thailand. In the beginning, there were merely three employees along with small-scale targeted markets. Until now, the business is steered by more than fifty people, whereas the sales volume has been experiencing an outstanding increase of more than a hundred times during the past twenty years. Still, there are some limitations, such as stock management, trial and error method in decision-making, and so on; our company needs to be improved by adopting the right type of well-managed operation, processes, and equipment to strive in this highly competitive business in Thailand due to economic instability and a drop of investments

The course introduced me a wide variety of modules in primary engineering and advanced civil engineering. More significantly, the coursework effectively enabled me to acquire not only applied mathematics and physics skills but also problem-solving and teamwork abilities. During my university life, I found myself having a considerable motivation in transportation engineering modules which ingrained in me the basic of logistics management. All the innovative knowledge as well as invaluable experiences I acquired from the study help maximise the business capability in the standard of service regarding strong engineering technical …show more content…
I was working in a new department focusing on launching innovative products. The workload spanned from technical to customer relations and management sides. For instance, supporting and providing technical documents such as guaranteed documents, and Q&A guidance for salespeople. On a more challenging level, I was assigned to create product catalogues and installation manuals by integrating creative graphic design with the technical terms of the prefabricated lightweight wall system. On sales strategy and customer relations side, my duty was to provide technical solutions of prefabricated non-load/load bearing wall to customers. I was also in charge of performing as a sales representative, presenting products’ technical subjects and delivering technical presentations to a wide array of clients with both technical and non-technical backgrounds. For management and planning side, I initiated detailed shop-drawing to help minimise products remnant/waste and installation period as a mean of the service cost reduction. Along the two-year period in SCG, I have experienced a number of challenging tasks and projects. They allowed me to effectively hone and, hence, achieved crucial skills, for example, negotiation, communication, presentation
This case study is talking about a small city has one company named Staircase Production Company (SPC). The company focuses on quality and responses customer demand, nevertheless their problem in operations as a result, high costs and late deliveries. It’s not difficult to establish a new business organization when there is new business opportunity in a fast growing market especially in a developing country like China. In the beginning stage of some market segment, demand is strong and competition is not keen so resources are easy to obtain. The level of
In fact, that is not the only thing from this course that has helped me develop my professional skills before I graduate and join the workforce. Having a project from industry sponsors like TAMU Transportation Services and the Texas A&M Transportation Institute has given me real life experience interacting with industry members and other engineers in a professional setting. From bi-weekly meetings with the sponsors to the simple email interactions have all given me precious insight on what I can expect in my future
I was born in a family which is fulfilled with civil engineering elements, thus my childhood environment aroused my strong interests of engineering and construction. For example, my father is an excellent civil engineer who participated in the design and construction of many large projects. We have models of bridge and building and everywhere in our home such as the delicate Tower Bridge and the ingenious Eiffel Tower. Furthermore, we have collected numerous architectonic books from all around the world, which became my best mentor for construction. Throughout my growth stages, I spent a lot of my leisure time on construction, for instance, following my father to visit construction sites in China. Therefore, I resolved to be an engineer and
Our business world is dynamic in character, any company which is created does not stay the same over a given period of times, it gains customers and loses some clients and it changes the company in a fundamental way because there is always a concern of growth attach with all the businesses even when it feels stagnant. We are looking at the case study of Davis service group which is a textile maintenance service company and they offer their services in Europe and the United Kingdom, their services include linen hire, workwear rental, dust control mat, laundry and washroom services. The case study illustrates the challenges met by a newly established company i.e. Rio Bravo IV in a high performance and quality demanding Industry. It shows how the best operations management strategy is important and how customer focus is a key feature in the success of an organization. We also see how building the right team for the right job will be key in the success of projects in today’s result oriented world.
There are many issues of concern surrounding the overall operation of the business raised in the Case Study, and when combined, they seriously impede its effective operation. There is a lack of leadership at the top of the organisation especially in regards to communication and the absence of middle management personnel in the coordination of the business. The HRM strategy also appears flawed particularly in the aspects of work design, pay and rewards, employee voice and performance management. ARISE have a low cost workforce model, but deliver a high-end product within a luxurious setting. This appears disjointed and not well planned. The business model is also questionable
Passion, professionalism and perseverance are the three qualities that run my academic and professional life. Years of undergraduate study and professional experience have brought me understanding of various domains and aspects of industrial engineering. Imagine an experience of studying in a group of people with maths, science and business acumen which has its applications in all fields from engineering product design to business models. Such an amalgamation of experiences can only be achieved by pursuing my master’s degree in Industrial engineering.
Nowadays, with the growing multimedia, internet technology and eduction popularity, the difficulty of running a company successfully is increasing. How good the quality of the product the company is making or how comfort the service can be provided to the customer can no longer contribute as much value as what they did before.
“Did I win? Did I lose? Those are the wrong questions. The correct question is: Did I make my best effort?” If so, he says, “You may be outscored but you will never lose.”
The biggest learning from this course, as an Engineer, has been introduction to, and appreciation of, Philosophy’s applicability to engineering, which can be understood when engineering is seen as
People often asked me, "Why did you choose Architecture?" I couldn't give one simple answer for that. May be because I loved painting, sketching and learning about new cultures since childhood. Art has always been my true passion, and every forms of art have captivated me since my childhood. Architecture is like a stage to me where I can choreograph my skills and creativity, with a desire to explore how science and technology can be used to improve the performance of buildings both socially and environmentally. Being able to bring tangible change is the ambition that I cherish. I hope to do so by becoming an Architect who is
I believe that education is the essential part of quality of a man and one should attempt his best to acquire it. I have been consistently scoring 1st class in 2nd to 8th semesters’ exams in the undergraduate course until now and I am confident that I have the ability to take up the Postgraduate course and complete with flying colors.
My long-term goal is to run a high-tech firm and deliver continuous values to the world. Even though I have direct experience in team management and technology innovations, I still need a multitude of new skills to reach this ambitious goal. Moreover, my past experience has taught me that a new business will face many challenges and need repeated testing. I intended to find solutions for these problems during my business education.
I am in pursuit of a life where the education I choose lets me explore the wealth of knowledge and wisdom. I strongly recognize that manufacturing engineering is the domain where my purpose and passion mingle. It is my earnest belief that the education in manufacturing engineering that I have received until now has helped me to grasp the fundamental principles of the subject. This knowledge, when coupled with dedicated master’s study would be the ideal preparation for a career in applied research or academics in the manufacturing industry, a vast field of science from developing new materials to manufacture an aircraft. After giving a visit to an Aero India Show last year in Bangalore has, developed a curiosity in me to know the manufacturing world of an aerospace industry. It is for this reason that I wish to pursue a Masters course in Aerospace Engineering in the “Aerospace Structures and Materials track” from Delft University of Technology.
