It is said that “Time and Tide waits for none”. As an upcoming college freshman I need to understand the value of time to succeed in life. I have to understand that everything needs to be prioritized no matter the case. That being able to manage my time correctly will teach me discipline which is exactly what I need to get through college with the goals I have set for myself. Individuals who stick to a time plan are more likely the people who realize their goals and objectives within the shortest possible time span. This will help me get my work done before the deadline instead of working on it the night before.
Encouragement plays a significant role in my success. Without encouragement, the achievement won't come true. Juliet Ferking, the author of "A Drive to Achieve the Extraordinary" from This I Believe: Life Lessons, tells her story about
I found my passion for arts administration as a sophomore in college. Growing up, music had always played a big part in my life. I had always thought that I would become a music teacher. However, when I accepted an internship position in the summer of 2015 working for the renowned Handel and Haydn Society in Boston, my plans changed. Suddenly, the idea of working behind the scenes, and operating an arts organization excited me immensely. As I found internships working for the New Jersey Symphony Orchestra, the Orpheus Chamber Orchestra, Jazz House Kids and Little Kids Rock, I became fixated on the business aspect of the arts. Planning and executing various performances, fundraising events and educational programs was exciting and gratifying, which led me to decide to pursue a career in arts administration and attend graduate school. I decided that attending the University of Cincinnati was the best option for me because of its academic rigor and because it offers a program in which I can earn my MA and MBA in Arts Administration. I believe pursuing an MBA would be an excellent opportunity for me to gain the educational experience needed to excel in this field.
Motivation in sports is why people do what they do. It is also the direction and intensity of one’s effort and determination to achieve. The more motivated one is, the more likely one is to succeed.
People need self-motivation to succeed because not every problem can be solved by others, some have to be solved by oneself. When conflicts arise, individuals need to seek out the path of best fit to conquer the issue at hand. Throughout my entire childhood, I aspired to be a great swimmer. When I was a young adolescent, my favorite sport to watch during the Olympics was swimming. How could someone move so fast through the water? The extremely close races and extraordinary comebacks always excited me. I wanted experience the thrill for myself.
Time management was a vital element that I had to incorporate into my daily routine. My entire family had to adjust to the new stressors that were introduced with my decision of returning to school. The normal routine that they had grown accustomed to was no longer practical. It was difficult for them to accept that I was no longer the primary source of everyday responsibilities. This new adaptation was difficult and stressful for them to accept. However, the willingness to accept their new roles ended with a positive outcome for everyone involved.
The Right Attitude There is a quote from the book The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants by Ann Brashares that the character Coach Brevin says "The problem is not the problem, the problem is your attitude about the problem, got that?" (Brashares 11). This quote, I found , has always helped me when I am facing any complicated problems in both my college life and my personal life. An example of the meaning of this quote is found in Grant Berry's A Change of Attitude (Berry 63-73). The problem, as implied by Grant Berry, is that many of us have the attitude that we are required to make drastic sacrifices that we don't want to make in order to achieve our goals.
I grew up as a farmer's daughter, therefore I worked on the farm, even when the tasks were tough. Because of this, I learned at a young age a lesson that will stay with me until the day I die, when you start something, you finish it. No matter how difficult the task is, no matter how long it takes, you will fight through it and get the job done no matter what. Though multiple hot and sweaty hours, I built myself a well-rounded work ethic. I have learned to conquer anything that is thrown my way. Whether that was driving a tractor for endless hours or getting a A on my test, I have learned that I have to work for everything and anything in my life. However much work I put into something is exactly the outcome in which I
I am keen to bridge the knowledge gaps in my current work profile at S&P Capital IQ by enrolling myself in Masters in Business Analytics from Bentley University. This program will bring me closer to my goals, helping me gain an understanding of analytical models, advanced statistics and sophisticated computational tools, and apply the same in business applications. I believe my work experience and prior education has readied me for this program and with this I hope to make my startup dream a
I believe the in-depth curriculum, the student managed investment fund, and the undergraduate business teams will achieve my desired objectives and give me a lasting, enduring edge against other job candidates in the future. I am eager to learn from others and receive their valuable input to improve my weaknesses as well as build upon my strengths. More specifically, three particular areas I would like to specialize upon include portfolio management and return, risk management, and expand my education on capital markets. Each is covered in the curriculum and through the various electives offered, which is why I’m confident my objectives will be fulfilled at W&M. In addition, I hope to achieve the ability to access my creativity further by learning more about myself, as well as learn how to communicate my leadership more effectively, influentially, and directly. I believe both of which can be obtained through the business teams as, although everyone processes information in different ways, I personally am more of an analytic processor rather than a social processor, the groups will allow myself to not only draw upon my strength, analytical processing, but it will also enhance my deficiency in social processing, increasing overall creativity and further development of effective leadership skills. As for the student managed fund, albeit it is a small part of the overall business school it involves my core passion and I hope to learn new methodologies to portfolio and risk management that I am unfamiliar with. As a final point, I would love to make many friends along the way, to whom I can keep in t2ouch with outside of college and hopefully work alongside in the finance
At the beginning of my freshman year I was attempting to develop motivation as well as seeking purpose and determining value. Whether in school or during sports or other activities and events in my life, I was constantly searching for motivation towards a goal or achievement.
Motivation. My motivation is twofold. The first is to know that history is a learning program, to and learning something new is what keeps me going. When I learn something new, I yearn to learn more. The second is my own success. Everything that I have set out to do, graduate high school, graduate college, become a teacher, has been accomplished. Looking back on my success gives me the motivation to continue. This also includes the small successes such as a research paper or a project.
Motivation to succeed: If you don't have a burning desire to succeed, you probably won't.
I am motivated by the feeling I get when I have disappointed someone or most importantly myself. When I do something incorrectly, it gives me the motivation to do better. I don’t ever want to
