Despite the opinions of pessimistic people, no one has ever experienced hell. People have had experiences which they associate and believe that the events were conjugated from the very pits of hell itself. If no one has ever witnessed hell then where does the idea of hell and its characteristics originate from? Religious people refer to the bible as their source of knowledge of hell, however non-religious people seek alternate mediums for their information. These people search for the non-conventional methods, which leads many to Dante’s Inferno. If Dante had not comprehended the number then it would be scattered out into random and precarious places in the book. Some placements would draw the reader in transfixing the brain on it, while others would clutter the story detracting away from the overall message trying to be displayed. The fact that the Inferno has survived decade after decade suggests otherwise and negates Ian’s statement that “the number was forced upon our poet’s consideration; given his love for symmetry and mysterious numerology.” The negative connotation of forced in this instance suggests that Dante, in himself, compulsively decided to use the number three because he had to satisfy his obsession with the language craft mentioned in the statement. It was crucial for Dante to comprehend the number three and when he had done so it translated into his work making it a pinnacle of literature. Therefore, complex numerology is a necessary sign of poetic quality for the quality of the poem would depreciate if the poet did incorporate this concept into his works. When a poet completes this task while remaining consistent with remembering that every numerological device they deploy in their work will impact someone, emotional or philosophical, then they themselves will produce the highest quality of poetry as
