South Adams County Firefighters Board of Directors Candidate Questionnaire for Stephanie Evans 1. I am asking for this endorsement because I have a passion for public service as well as extensive experience in working with unions. I have over 20+ years’ experience in public service and security management to offer. Not only am I known as a top leader and influencer in the market, I understand both the technical and non-technical aspects of many different organizations. While this is a unique environment, making connections is vital to the unions survival within the SACFD. Secondly, union members vote and are more likely to vote for a progressive candidate. As such, an endorsement from the union provides a “seal of approval,” encouraging members …show more content…
I was invited to apply for this position and given my background and experience, it was determined that I would bring a lot to the board. I have always had an interest in Public Service not only as a wife (both fire & police), my current professional role is focused on information and cyber security which impacts all agencies (police, fire, EMS, clinical, etc..) working in departments where I saw firsthand the workings of the public service system has had a profound impact on my life. In addition, I believe my later experiences with public budgeting, public unions, personnel management and extensive incident command training allows me to understand and be helpful as similar issues arise at SACFD. 3. I am currently running for the City of Commerce City Public Service council as a board member. I have worked directly with Brighton Police Dept, The Commerce City Police Dept., Brighton Fire Dept., South West Adams County Fire Dept., Rocky Flats Fire Dept., and South Adams County Fire Dept. on several public service events. 4. Collective bargaining statutes provide critical and necessary protection for workers who exercise basic civil rights, specifically the rights of speech, association, and petition. Efforts to strip workers of these protections have no place in our democracy. I am a firm believer that our men & women need these rights especially in todays workforce. This protection is
Hello everyone! I'm Andrew String and I am running for the position of Treasurer for SURE Club. The position of treasurer is for those individuals that are very organized individual and can keep track of the income and output of money! I am definitely the right person for the job! The union will need to engage in intra-organizational bargaining in order to reach a greater consensus as to what is essential to our workers. By going through this process away from the bargaining table, we can come to the table with a firm and unified stance. We indent to do this in a number of ways. First, we can educate workers about how in actuality, their interests are aligned because a victory for the union is a victory for all members. For example, an improved pension plan does not only benefit older workers, but also younger workers because of the precedent that this proposed pension plan will set for their future pension plans. The same is true for job security. We will ensure the workers that we as their union are their agents in their desire to improve their wages and working conditions. This emphasis on unity will increase our relative power and aid us when it comes time for zero-sum bargaining.
I'm Abby Dayton, and I attend Estrella Foothills high school here in Goodyear. Recently at school, we've been analyzing local campaigns and I chose yours because it stood out to me. I know there is some ruthless competition in the election, but I believe your reliable campaign will win for your position. After reading about you and what you have to offer our community, I can see that you're ready for this position in Goodyear city council.
I am honored to the opportunity to internship at the Bibb County Sheriff Department supervised by Cindy Gresham, the executive assistant of this agencies. Historically, there were two agencies ensuring public safety in Bibb County, The Bibb County Sheriff Department and the Macon Police Department. There were five attempts to consolidate the two agencies, but consolidation was unsuccessful. However in 2003, the two agencies were consolidated into one unified government formally known as the “The Bibb County Sheriff Department.” This consolidations prompted a complete reconstruction of the unified agencies. There were new policies and rankings implemented and the creation of a newly organized board. This paper will explain the mission of the agency, the types of services provided, sources of revenue, the administration and organization structure, and community resources utilized.

The staff recommends becoming a cosponsor of H.R. 3222. The First Amendment to the Constitution protects the freedom of speech and the freedom of association for all Americans. Unfortunately, many of these rights are stripped or obstructed by labor unions. As a result, workers are denied liberty in the workplace, and taxpayers are on the hook for activities which they might not agree too. The Federal employee rights act takes important step to ensuring the right of the worker, and transparency within the labor union organization.
Today, millions of American workers are denied their rights to consider forming a union since the process of voting on union formation has been corrupted. This has become an urgent crisis and a barrier to workers’ rights because they are frequently intimidated, harassed and even fired by their companies, which is blocking their freedoms and abilities to bargain for a better future. Therefore, the Organized Labour has made the Employee Free Choice Act, which helps workers remedy those problems from their employers. For further detail, a brief review of what the Employee Free Choice Act is and why it is important for workers’ rights follows.
In 1957 the National Association of Fire Chiefs made the recommendation to use a single number to report fires within a community. Approximately 10 years later in 1967 the President's Commission on Law Enforcement and Administration of Justice made the same recommendation that a single number should be used to report all emergency situations and it should be used across the entire nation. This recommendations were made because prior to the 911 system citizens in communities across the country were forced to dial a specific seven digit number in order to reach the providers of fire and law enforcement services within their communities to report an emergency. Then following, these recommendations
The personal reason of why I am running for this position is to grow as a person through collaboration with others because I think it is important to learn from peers. Instead of always calling out my thoughts right away, I normally enjoy listening to everyone’s opinions before forming my own. I think that this is a crucial point to the success of the class because the beauty of working together lies in combining everyone’s unique spin and personality, which results in a final product that we may not have been able to come up with on our own. Although sometimes the class differs in opinion, I think my listening skills would help resolve this problem since I tend to try and see both sides of the argument. Outside of ASB I have put my leadership abilities to work as the
I believe I am the right person for this position because I will dedicate myself to this organization 100%. Throughout my entire life I have held the values of equality and acceptance of all individuals. Chairing as the Chapter Relations Director would benefit the
One and foremost I'd like to bring out my team-work and team leading experience from the past. I am seasoned Police Pilot within the LSPD Air Support Division. Half of my almost year-long service in Air Support Division was as a Chief Pilot (divisional command). I believe this plays an important role as the Air Support Division is literally built on communications and team-work. In addition to the Air Support Division I also served long time alongside (now retired) Sergeant Evan Spencer, him being the
The reasons why I am running for office position are to give back to the community and to influence others by my actions. In 2012, when I was an 8th grader, I had to go through a severe financial struggles. Unfortunately, extreme stress and loneliness lead to depression. Fortunately, I was able to overcome the depression. It was only possible because of Key Club. By serving my community with genuine care, I found true happiness. When I was being part of a service project or an event, I was free from depression. But why District Treasurer? Because I want to continuously serve CNH District. Especially, dealing with money is something that interests me the most. During 2016-2017 term, I hope to build stronger and educational relationships with
Throughout the Twentieth Century, the evolution of workers’ rights in the workplace has drastically evolved. Through the utilization of constitutional freedoms, workers across the nation came together to support the goal of receiving fair treatment from employers when it came to wages, work conditions, and benefits. However, this wasn’t achieved without great sacrifice from the average man as standing up for their rights was a brave act that usually resulted in consequences.
First and foremost, thank you for being here in support of the student government association. I want to thank our amazing dean Edina for encouraging me to run for vice president of SGA. Many people have asked me why I am running for vice president. Would you ask a fifth grader if he is going to go to the 6th grade? No right because they have to keep going to the next level. Ever since I came to the University of Bridgeport, I constantly looked for ways to become more involved and to keep having an impact in the university. Every year, here at the University of Bridgeport I am involved in something new. Whether it's being an OL, President of a Club or even starting a chapter/club which is known as the food recovery network, with the help of my peers. The food recovery network have recovered more than 300 pounds of food that would otherwise have been thrown out.
