I believe that the book Animal Farm should be read by more people because of how educational and beneficial it could be to others. First off, the theme of the novel has a hidden meaning that if the book is fully read and understood the reader can be educated on the corrupt ways of the Soviet Union which makes it an allegory which means that everything in the novel has some type of meaning relating to the corrupt tendencies of the Soviet Union. Also a lot can be learned from George Orwell’s brilliant and complex writing with his uses of motifs, imagery, foreshadowing, symbolism and irony in all of his novels. He specifically makes sure that all of these literary devices are used in a certain way that incorporates the book, the Soviet Union, and he also words them in a way that it will draw the reader in and allow them to further connect with his writing as well as allowing the reader to further understand the novel by making you stop and think about what is being said.
One of the obvious yet major motifs in the novel was Old Majors theme song where he repeatedly calls out the beasts of different countries. Since this novel is an allegory, the motif is represented to be some sort of propaganda to show how the pigs remain in power by stating their leadership. Another literary device that could educate the reader is his repeated use

Some of them consist of The Beasts of England, Comrade Napoleon, The Seven Rules of the Farm, the farmhouse, the idea of animalism throughout the novel, the windmill, as well as countless others. To go in depth with some of them I will explain how some of these are metaphors. The Farmhouse is one that could be considered as both a symbol and a metaphor because it is seen as a place of mischief which is also considered to be a place that is the complete opposite of the
Animal Farm is used as a literary device to symbolize the rise of Soviet Communism in an animal based story. In a more broad perspective, it is also a metaphor for human society and government, no matter the form. The pigs show the nearly inevitable development of tyranny in a the upper, more powerful classes, and how this is detrimental to the integrity of democracy and freedom. On the other hand, the lower class animals are used to display the dangers of having a naive, or uneducated working class that allows itself to be manipulated and lied to by the people that reside above them in the social
The imagery used in Animal Farm is very powerful and descriptive, it shows the characteristics of the allegorical life and individuals. Mr. Jones, is a horrible leader and the animals can not take it anymore, so a meeting is assembled, but is abruptly broken up by Czar. Before the death of Old Major, “He seized the gun which always stood in a corner of his bedroom, and let fly a number 6 shot into the darkness. The pellets buried themselves in the wall of the barn and the meeting broke up hurriedly” a meeting is adjourned because of the raising suspicions of the animals (Orwell 10). Mr. Jones or Czar, is becoming more suspicious of the animals because of the ruckus they keep making through the night. Little does he know that the animals are planning to rebel against Mr. Jones, also at this time the propaganda used by the pigs is beginning to deceive the animals. After Snowball was driven away, Napoleon came out of the barn standing upright like a human with his dogs or the KGB, alongside him. It can be inferred that Napoleon has turned into a communistic leader with full power of the farm as “He carried a whip in his trotter”(Orwell 91). Napoleon has influenced the animals so much that the sheep changed the maxim to “Four legs good but two legs better”, the animals still see him as more of a dictator rather than a communistic leader. The animals also change the commandments to say that some animals are more equal than others, this conveys the development of communism from dictatorship is growing exponentially. While Orwell’s incorporation of imagery throughout Animal Farm has its importance, language has an immense impact as well.
One magnificent part of Orwell’s Animal Farm is the fact that many of the characters show a great amount of symbolism. Two perfect examples of this are the pig Old Major, and the maleficent Farmer Jones. When the old pig is close to dying, Old Major tells the animals that after his death, he feels that a rebellion against man will happen in the animal world. He practically lays down his suggestions of how the rebellion should occur: all
Throughout history one of mankind's greatest struggles has always been his unquenchable quest for power. A great example of this is the book the animal farm written by george orwell it is a book about animals getting tired of being slaves so they overthrow their farmer only to be ruled by a pig named napoleon. The animal farm also directly correlates with the russian revolution where the book talks about napoleon the pigs rise to power the russian revolution is where joseph stalin's power began to rise. Furthermore this essay will be showing the the main cause of the russian revolution, what were the effects after the russian revolution, the role of stalin during the russian revolution, and how george orwell parallels the events of the russian
People are intrigued by a book through its content. However, when a reader can relate to the book, it reminds them of their own life story. This is exactly what Orwell did when writing Animal Farm. He created the book to open people’s eyes and see what was really going on in front of them. Animal Farm intrigues so many people because though it is a fiction book, it is based on true events that happened in Russia. Animal Farm, a book based on Stalin’s Russia, can be interpreted in several ways: the similar characteristics between Stalin and Napoleon, the animal parallels, and the parallel between Stalin’s Russia (USSR) and the Animal Farm.
Britain. Pilkington and Napoleon form an alliance, which Napoleon eventually breaks. Frederick invades Napoleon’s farm, and Napoleon asks Pilkington for help, which he refuses to give. They do, however, reconcile their alliance. Pilkington and Churchill both went through some rough alliances with the countries they were partnering up with, but whenever said country needed help getting back on its feet, they ally with them once more. Frederick and Pinchfield Farm are an allegory for Hitler and Nazi Germany. Frederick makes a deal with Napoleon where he says he will give the pig money for timber. His checks turn out to be fraudulent, and he tries to overtake the Animal farm. This plan, however, does not work out, much like Adolf Hitler’s plan
In the Novel animal farm by George Orwell he tells a story about a farm that is taken over by animals, an allegory of the Russian revolution. In this essay I will show how Napoleon represents Stalin and what he did during the Russian revolution.
George Orwell’s novel Animal Farm is a great example of allegory and political satire. The novel was written to criticize totalitarian regimes and particularly Stalin's corrupt rule in Russia. In the first chapter Orwell gives his reasons for writing the story and what he hopes it will accomplish. It also gives reference to the farm and how it relates to the conflicts of the Russian revolution. The characters, settings, and the plot were written to describe the social upheaval during that period of time and also to prove that the good nature of true communism can be turned into something atrocious by an idea as simple as greed. This essay will cover the comparisons between Animal Farm and the Russian Revolution. It will also explain why

The novel Animal Farm by George Orwell was a parallel to the Russian Revolution. The examples of the Russian Revolution in animal farm are the start of it when the stroke of Old Major happens with represents Lenin’s stroke. The murder of Snowball was Trotsky being murdered and forced into exile by Stalin. The dogs represent the secret police that shut down any of the opposition to make Stalin or Napoleon look bad. The last example of the parallel to the Russian Revolution was Napoleon says it's better now than when the farmer Mr. Jones was there, which is a direct parallel to Stalin saying its better without Czar Nicholas.
Squealer is a animal on the farm that gives out false information so the pigs can get what they want. Squealer represents the Russian Propaganda. The Russian Propaganda would tell Russian civilians to join together to make one big group and revolt against their leader. This group mostly consisted of workers. The workers would rebel due to long and laborious working hours, and low wages. This is similar to Animal Farm because the animals all joined forces to rebel against Mr. Jones, and then the animals built up their own government and ruled themselves.
Animal Farm is an allegory of the period in Russian history between 1917 and 1944. It is a satirical story written in the form of an animal fable. In writing Animal Farm as a fable, George Orwell is able to present his subject in simple symbolic terms by treating the development of communism as a story that is taking place on a single farm with talking animals. The characters of Animal Farm represent figures in Russian history during the Russian Revolution. Places, objects, and events of the Russian Revolution are also symbolized in Animal Farm.
Rohan Skaria Ms. Nguyen – 6 Pre-AP English I 25 October 2015 Title Russia has had many problems and pushed through many obstacles in its bloodied history. One man who has easily contributed to the suffering of the Russians is Joseph Stalin. He was a very ruthless man who thought that his goals could only be achieved through violence and sacrifices of other people. He was able to take complete control over the Soviet government and used his unethical methods to “help” Russia.
Imagine if the hands of time could be turned back to see what life for the Soviet Union would have been like without Joseph Stalin’s dictatorship. Imagine a land of equality without people living under corrupted rule that lead miserable lives. This is the perfect utopian society that everyone living in the Soviet Union during the Russian Revolution wanted their life to be like. Leon Trotsky, represented by Snowball in George Orwell’s Animal Farm, would have transformed the Soviet Union into exactly this society as he was the better leader, yet he was unable to convey this message to the people. Leon Trotsky’s actions and governmental implementations were beneficial to the rise of the Soviet Union.
A. Orwell’s Animal Farm is an allegory for the Russian Revolution. In the story you can see the connections between the characters and historical figures that took part of the revolution. These characters are Old Major, which represents Karl Marx, Napoleon that represents Stalin, the dogs that represents Stalin’s Secret Police and Squealer who represents Stalin’s propaganda. The Battle of the Cowshed also represents the Russian Civil War. Another way is how the movement of the farm from a Marxist utopia goes into a dictatorship.
