Because of this, I believe it’s important to educate people about cyber bullying because it will help stop it from happening. Doing that would encourage the victims to speak up for themselves and get help, and have the bullies think twice about their attempt to bully someone. It is very easy to harass someone via a social network because 93% of young people from the age 12 to 17 were online by 2008(Lenhart, Purcell, Smith and Zickuhr, 2010). Ask.fm, one of the major cyber bully-concentrated social networks, was linked to over nine teen suicides since it first started. The Ask.fm founder, Mark Terebin blamed the mass media for the suicides, and the website’s own users: “Mass media is knocking on the wrong door. It is necessary to go deeper to find a root of a problem. It’s not about the site; the problem is about education, about moral values that were devaluated lately. Ask.fm is just a tool which helps people to communicate with each other, same as any other social

Many people each and everyday deal with some type of bullying. There are two types of bullying, there is regular bullying (more of the physical side) and then there is Cyberbullying which affects people mentally and physically. “It can go on at home or back at school. Cyberbullying is seen more in children 12 and younger and in middle school” (Spectre, 2016). Some people don’t know what cyberbullying is, how it can impact a person’s life and how one can address the situation. Parents sometimes don’t know what to do when their child has been bullied or cyberbullied. I have seen it go on online and during school hours and it is hard trying to get the guts up to go tell someone. I am a victim of both types of bullying. Cyberbullying happens to everyone, doesn’t matter what time of day or day of the week. “More than 16,000 kids are absent from school because of some type of bullying” (Award, 2015). Bullying needs to stop now before it gets worse for all of us.
Bullying can happen anywhere and to anyone whether it is online or in person. It can happen at school, in your neighborhood, or while your on-line. “Bullying is when someone is being hurt by words or by actions on purpose.” “Cyberbullying is using technology - internet, email, cell phones, social media, pictures - to hurt or harm someone.” It can have a major effect on the bully and the victim both. But, bullying is not just name calling, it is also teasing, spreading rumors, leaving someone out on purpose, or talking about someone or hurting someone. Bullying is a big deal and has ruined many lives of children who are just my age. Teaching kids about bullying is very important so they will know what to do if they are being bullied or
For such a long time, physical bullying has been the largest problem schools and parents had to face with their children, but now another form of bullying has arisen; cyber bullying. In society today, teens are drawn cell phones, laptops, and other technological advancements. Social media is a way for many teens and adolescents to interact with one another and share countless happenings of their personal lives. Cyber bullying occurs when individuals use the internet to send or comment cruel and unnecessary messages to another. In its various forms cyber bullying includes, indirect and direct harassment, posting inappropriate pictures, impersonating another being, or just being plain cruel. Although anyone can become a victim of cyber bullying, improper use of the internet can further induce harassment, due to the adolescents desire to use modern day technologies. The harassers could be classmates, online “friends’’, or anonymous users. One barrier that is difficult to overcome is determining who is responsible for the attacks online, because many bullies hide behind fake usernames or profiles to protect their real identity, which is commonly known as “hiding behind a screen”. (Bonanno 2013). The motives for a cyber-bully are never clear, some might say
Bullying and Cyberbullying is a real everyday issue. Children are bullied both in person and online. Bullies can reach victims with a click of a button without a face or a voice. Where the school yard was the only place that a bully could reach, in today’s world bullies can reach the bedroom at home. Bullying can affect children all the way up into adulthood. Adults also bully other adults.
Cyber-bullying is the use of electronic communications to bully a person. Cyber-bullying takes place by using the Internet, cell phones, video game systems, and other technology. Cyber-bully sends or posts text or image that is intended to hurt feelings or embarrass another person in front of others. Bullying is an aggressive behavior which causes harm and stress to its victims and it escalates over time. Furthermore, everybody has mobile phones and they are using it all day long. There is certainly a difference how bullying has changed. Historically we have seen and may have been a victim of verbal or physical bullying, however today we all use technology so cyber-bullying is on its rise. In fact, the Australian Communications and Media Authority (ACMA) records cyber-bullying “emerging” in the early 2000s (Nicol 3). The Internet has become a place where people communicate with each other everywhere. People have access to Internet twenty-four hours per day. Communicating with others via emails and various social websites is just like talking with people face to face. However, there are some people who try to hurt others ' feelings through the Internet and technology devices.
In today’s world young people easily access to the entire world through the use of computers, cell phones, and other electronic devices. Cyberbullying is defined as any form of repeated harassment to a person using electronic devices and the internet. It is a growing issue that youth are facing today. Studies have shown that one third of students have faced cyber bullying in their life. According to Cyber bullying statistics from the i-SAFE foundation, over half of adolescents and teens have been bullied online and repeatedly through their cellphones or the Internet. Also, more than 1 in 3 young people have experienced cyber threats online. Cyberbullies often say things that they do not have the courage to say face-to-face because technology makes them feel anonymous, insulated and detached from the situation. Anonymous is very power because online bullying is mean and cruel, in the article “Cyber Bullying Statistics.” Cyberbullying happens frequently and about 15% of high school students (grades 9–12) were electronically bullied. Bullying never stop no matter what unless someone stands up.
Before technology took over our society, bullying was limited to physical and verbal harm. Today, technology has allowed bullies to attack someone at anytime and say as much as they wish. This allows for the victim to read and re-read his or her threats over and over again. When the threats become too harsh, the victim feels unsafe in public areas, such as school, and the victim misses out on school work and activities. Although there are more serious problems that should be addressed at school, school officials should fight cyberbullying because dealing with cyberbullying issues teaches students to become better and stronger people in the future, the disturbing comments that are made online affect the students’ mental and emotional health, and when addressing this issue, both the bully and the victim could be helped.
The presence of digital media is very prevalent in today's society; it has become the most preferred medium of communication for the vast majority of people. Yet, this same technology that is used to ask Google quick questions, to follow friends on Facebook, and to send text messages to loved ones, is also being used as a medium for bullying. Bullies are now sourcing the use of technology to assault their victims. Cyber bullying is a form of bullying which is instigated through electronic technology. Cyber bullying is often harder than face- to- face bullying because it is more difficult to identify the bully, the bully has a larger audience, and the victim feels targeted all the time.
