As an American-Muslim my family never celebrated thanksgiving but growing up in America I have appreciated, and admired this wonderful western holiday because, it has so much more meaning than just having great food amongst family and friends. I have learned and understood that it’s time to reflect and understand what we are thankful for, and the words “thankfulness” and giving back are words that are very powerful in transforming, and understanding ourselves as human beings. As a Muslim, my family always reminded us before any action we take we must be thankful, and appreciative of what God has given us, which is very much similar in comparison to the western holiday of thanksgiving and that is very enlightening in the sense that even though

Holidays are always celebrated no matter religion, beliefs, or culture. Some are recognized more than others but none two are as highly recognized like the cherished Christmas and Thanksgiving holidays. The pair may seem vastly different, as they are two completely separate occasions, but in actuality they do share very similar attributes. Many of the similarities and differences are about to be explained, so here goes.
It is mind boggling to know that despite the quest for knowledge and learning the truth behind our history, yet a vast number of people still celebrate thanksgiving. What are we really thankful for?
Poe develops suspense in his narrative “The Black Cat” by using the following events: cutting the cat’s eye out, killing his wife, and hiding his wife body. After a night of drinking, Poe states the narrator becomes furious because he thinks Pluto is avoiding him. The narrator states “I took from my waist coat pocket a pen knife, opened it, grasped the poor beast by the throat, and deliberately cut one of its eyes from the socket” (Poe 2) The reader now realize the narrator is insane. He or she is shocked because he or she now understands that the narrator is unpredictable.
In our readings, we Define Visionary serial killers as someone who commits incomprehensible active serial fatal victimization. We described the crime scene as chaotic.
Nathaniel Hawthorne's work is unique. His writings are full of subtle imagination, analysis, and poetic wording. His short stories are known for their originality and for their ability to provoke the reader's thoughts. Although a large portion of his stories are allegories, Hawthorne's preference is to draw more heavily on symbolism (Pennell 13). His use of symbols adds depth to his stories and helps to reveal different aspects of his characters. In Rappaccini's Daughter, Hawthorne uses symbolism to create a modern day tale of Adam and Eve in the Garden of Eden.
Transition: With all holidays come celebrations, let’s talk about the festivities that helped shape Halloween today.
On the fourth Thursday of every November, families gather together to spend a day filled with food and laughter. Thanksgiving celebrates the day the settlers and the Native Americans enjoyed their first meal together. However, my parents were both raised in Mexico and never had a typical yearly Thanksgiving celebration. Despite my parents home being Mexico, they started a family in America and decided to teach their children about both of the places they come from. A compromise between American and Mexican traditions formed and served as a family tradition until last year. A year ago, my family ate a Thanksgiving meal at my sister's parent-in-laws house.
It 's a tradition that my moms side of the family come to my grandmas house for Thanksgiving. The cool air and falling leaves is a sign of fall and Thanksgiving is my least favorite holiday. I don’t like my cousins very much and I 'm pretty sure the feeling is mutual. Thanksgiving is not that cheerful for me. Years ago at Thanksgiving, I was not excited for it, just like every other year. My grandmas basement is very much underground and quite dark without the lights on. My cousins were running around the basement playing around. I started to try to scare them by hiding and popping out saying "Boo!". Evening approached and the moon starts to come out of hiding and the night starts to set in. It’s a cool night outside and the sun starts to
Anyone can eat soul food on any particular day of the year. However, it is something distinctive about preparing and eating soul food on Thanksgiving Day. Soul food is considered to be fried chicken, macaroni and cheese, collard greens, breaded fried okra and yams. The preparation and consumption of soul food have been a staple in my family’s tradition for many generations. Perchance the food tastes better because of the cool crisp air, or maybe it’s the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day parade. I honestly don’t know why, but I feel like this should be a paten scientific theory. Everything just feels right on this day, as if the world halts for a split second and it is at harmony. Possibly that is why the food is cooked to perfection. Even the process of preparing the meal is practically better than eating the food.

Thank you for the Thanksgiving dinner last night! That was a really great dinner. I enjoyed it a lot. Sorry for interrupting your conversation to go home early last night. I usually go to bed around 11 pm and wake up at 6:30, so 10 pm was a bit late for me. That was fun to learn how Chinese think about their government. I have some friends (and my first roommate) from there. A few of them are just like Pengcheng, knowing almost nothing about how the government works (especially those not coming from the coastline cities). But my friends from larger cities, like Wuhan or Beijing, prefer democracy better. They never use reasons like "China is too big to have democracy" to rebut the idea, and they often times complain about human rights in China
Thanksgiving is a day to give thanks to your life and everyone and everything in it. Thanksgiving is thought of in different ways and is celebrated in unlike ways. Families have divergent meals, places that they visit on Thanksgiving, and activities that they enjoy taking part in on Thanksgiving. Overall, no matter what traditions there are, what meals you have, or the activities enjoyed on Thanksgiving, Thanksgiving is truly a wonderful holiday.
