‘Blue whales are the largest animals ever known to have lived on Earth. These magnificent marine mammals rule the oceans with a length of 30 m and an outstanding weight of 200 000 kg. Their tongues alone can weigh as much as an elephant. Their hearts, as much as a car. Blue whales live in all the oceans across the globe. They are migratory, and travel great distances at different times in their lives. The three main regions where blue whales are found are the North Atlantic, the North Pacific and the Southern hemisphere.’
