Good afternoon. Thank you, for that kind introduction. It is an honor and a privilege to address this Class of 2017, your family and friends, the faculty, staff, and distinguished guests of the college. Recently I’ve been quoted numerous times saying It’s a good time to be at the College of Health Sciences. Well friends, today I can tell you honestly; It’s an even better time to be graduating from the college of health sciences. Now it’s no secret that as Dean of the college I’ve given a lot of these speeches, and as such at this moment I am filled with the normal emotions I’m used to experiencing while delivering these: uncomfortable, a little nervous, and hungry. I’m kidding, I have snacks in my robe. I’m talking about my feelings of: excitement, pride, gratitude, and admiration. Excitement, because I take great joy in almost limitless possibilities and the wealth of contributions that I know this graduating class of students will accomplish. I believe that this is a very special class of students. As you go forward I know that each and every one of you will have the opportunity to make new discoveries and breakthroughs in therapeutic techniques to enhance the delivery of health care. No small feat. Pride, because as Dean of the college I’ve gotten to know many and/or most of you as you’ve advanced through the program these past years. I’ve learned your personal stories and hardships that you’ve overcome in order to get here today. I’ve enjoyed the relationships made, the experiences we’ve shared, and your passion for learning and excelling in the physical therapy profession. Along with today’s great accomplishment, your spirit and commitment to excellence have a brought a great since of pride to myself, our college faculty and administration, and the entire university. Gratitude. Yes, I have a great amount of gratitude for you. But not only you. And at this time I hope that you will all join me to stand, turn to the audience of friends and family members and give them a round of applause to commend those whose helped you on this journey. Thank you. And finally, admiration. Your enthusiasm and optimism for learning and excelling in the physical therapy profession is truly an inspiration
I’m Liz and I would like to start off by saying, “Good Morning”, and thank all of you for coming today to celebrate with the class of 2017 as today marks a huge milestone in our lives. For me specifically, I’m going to start off by thanking my family, friends, coaches, the faculty, and mentors (especially Oba); for supporting and guiding me through the good and bad times. Without you all, I don’t think I could’ve made it this far in my life. Secondly, I’d like to thank Konawaena for allowing me to compete in unpopular sports, excel in my classes, and grow into the person I am today. If you knew me freshman year, you’d remember that I could barely look people in the eye and was too meek to speak. Now, I’m not crushed with shyness, put myself out there and actually developed bonds with people that I will cherish forever. This school allowed me to meet amazing people and have unforgettable memories. Konawaena will hold a special place in my heart as it gave me a second chance to be who I truly am.
I must first gain a Bachelor’s degree then continue to a university to earn my Doctor of Physical Therapy degree. As well as understanding the education that a physical therapist must obtain, I am fully aware of the trials a physical therapist will encounter daily, and I am ready to accept the responsibility. While also being aware of the medical aspects that are required to be a physical therapist, I am now aware of the emotional aspects as well. I now understand that physical therapist’s job is much more complex than simply putting a Band-Aid on a scratch. It’s caring for your patients in a way that makes them feel safe and secured. I am fully aware that the road ahead will be treacherous; however, if I apply myself in the classroom, as well as in the workplace, I believe I can achieve my ultimate goal of obtaining a Doctor of Physical Therapy
As I stand before you all at the end of our senior year, giving this speech, let’s reminisce in some of our memorable pasts. Looking back, we’ve made many great memories in the midst of earning an
This spring semester makes my third semester attending College of the Canyons, or any college for that matter. It has been a wonderful experience for I've managed to build relationships with a diverse group of both students and instructors all working towards their goals as well as achieving a milestone in my ultimate pursuit to become a physician. This previous fall semester I undertook the challenge of becoming an Emergency Medical Technician and I am proud to say that I succeeded, for I passed the course and received my certification in early December. In late January I took my National Registry in order to be certified as an EMT-B on a national level, and as I skimmed through the results I experienced tunnel vision with the word ‘congratulations’ in the center.
Good Morning and Welcome Distinguished Guests, family, and friends of our Graduating Class, it is an honor to have you join us this morning for such a wonderful occasion.
After 13 years, it’s all come to an end. No more assignments, no more tests, no more uniform, no more school. To the majority of you, this fact probably still hasn’t really hit home yet, and to be honest, I don’t think that I’ve fully grasped this fact either. That soon, we will be stepping out of the relative safety of TSS and entering into a harsh, and unforgiving new world. But as we -the graduating class of 2016- step out into this new world, it is not as though TSS has not prepared us for this day.
Attending the DPT physical therapy program at University of the Sciences will provide me with valuable experiences in my academics that will allow me to succeed as a physical therapist in the future. I believe that my experience as a physical therapy aide, my background in dance and education obtained from the University of the Sciences, I would become a prominent leader, a cutting-edge innovator and skilled physical therapist.
This year, June, I will become the first person in my family to graduate with an academic honors diploma. In June I will attend one of the best schools nationwide, Seton Hall University. Despite these accomplishments, I’m proud of the time I’ve dedicated to my community and extracurricular events. I’m proud of the placements and the letter I've received for Speech and Debate, the influential positions I’ve gained in Student Council, and my presidency of BPA. Ultimately, I’m proud that I destroyed the barriers of statistics and the perception that an apple doesn’t fall too far from a tree.
Hello everyone! Thank you for attending our graduation. We’re all glad you could make it.
As the imminent conclusion of the 13 year journey at Vancouver College approaches, there is certainly a realization of how Vancouver College has shaped our fundamentals and enriched the principles and perspectives which shape the person I am proud to be today. In truth, this imminent conclusion of my time at such a fine institution, as well as the commencement into a new chapter of our lives, conjures a fusion of emotions of nostalgia and appreciation. I would also like to thank my parents, MSQUAD (MPxMCxML), SSOAN, Mr. Kim, Mr. Pineda, Mr. Shin, Mr. Slivinski, Br. Conti, and Mrs Vernier, who have been so supportive throughout my years at Vancouver College. As we enter a new chapter in life, I genuinely wish all the best to my fellow classmates
Ladies and gentlemen, may I start my speech by welcoming the guests. Today, we are surrounded by most of the friends and family that have been important to us during our lives. Some have traveled thousands of miles, just to be here today. We welcome you all and thank you sincerely for sharing this special day with us.
Overall, I appreciate that every one of you physical therapists gave me the opportunity to observe your job performances. You guys have given me insight into the field of physical therapy. Observing you guys during Eval’s and patient interactions has helped me confirm that a career in rehabilitation is a career for me. Although I have not made up my mind yet between occupational and physical therapy, I can give you all credit for confusing me. What I mean by that is, I can easily see myself wanting to be a physical therapist. Thank you guys for expanding my horizon and showing such a self-satisfying profession.
“America was not built on fear. America was built on courage, on imagination and an unbeatable determination to do the job at hand.” With the vision of the American Physical Therapy Association being to optimize society through movement, as a future physical therapist I will be an asset to our community and achieve the job at hand. By creating a positive, as well as empowering, atmosphere I will help to expand and advance the human experience. With every treatment, I will instill determination and promote the mobility of each patient to ensure them that they can reach their recovery goal. Through my devotion, diligence, and kindness I believe that I can transform and rehabilitate America’s patients.
Today, I stand before you, as a graduating Senior, filled with confusion, uncertainty, and doubt. I’m unsure about what the future holds, what
Therapy is an emerging and continuously evolving field that I have seen constant growth in treatment for patients. Now having the education and experience of what it takes to be on the path as a physical therapist I unquestionably believe that the University of St. Augustine is essential for my personal growth. In the future I see myself as a person who can contribute advancements to the field and knowledge to future doctors who fervently seek skillfulness as I once did. I plan to build my profession in a hospital setting at first so that I can be exposed to a variety of patient treatments. For this reason I have already set a name with my supervisors and coworkers in rehab care. My vision to aid those who come to me does not only go as far as where I live and work but to the countries that cannot get help due to capital causes. I have done many trips to destitute countries and believe that only the best education is fit to help those in need. I know that this is not a task in which all are called for and not only do I want to restore their health, but I want to be a guide for their future and a healer for their
