Integrity can also be influenced by outside factors such as family, religion, economic status, and philosophical ideology (Popan, 2016). However, integrity is ultimately determined by the individual (Stefano & Wasylyshyn, 2005). The Stanford Encyclopedia of Philosophy states that integrity guides behavior and is determined by the choices you make and the principles you follow (2016).

Integrity is the honesty and truthfulness or accuracy of one’s actions. Integrity regards internal consistency as a virtue. One may judge that others “have integrity” to the extent that they act according to the values, beliefs and principles they clam to hold. Integrity is defined as following your moral or ethical convictions and doing the right thing in all circumstances, even if no one is watching you. Having integrity means you are true to yourself and would do nothing that demeans or dishonors you. When employees are asked what they want from leaders it is integrity. Qualities change across culture and time, but what people say they want most in American society is integrity. When people are asked to define integrity, the word they mention most frequently is honesty. The leader with integrity always tells the truth as he or she believes it to be. Think about the best leader you have ever had; she or he probably had integrity. First and foremost, people want a leader they can trust. Ask yourself whether you have a reputation for integrity. (Manning 6) Integrity can be broken down into sub components:

Integrity. To me, integrity is being honest to others and to yourself. It’s to have moral uprights. It’s the state of being whole. It’s a word used to describe someone’s level of honesty. No one is gets integrity once they are born. It is developed by good influences actions. Having integrity is doing the right thing is a trustful way. Someone who has integrity means they have a moral compass that leads them in the right direction. They follow their moral judgements and do good things under all circumstances, even if no one pays attention. They would do nothing that dishonors themselves.

What is integrity? This is a very complicated question with a million different ways to answers. Integrity is something that a person can possess. It is something that a structure can possess and it is something that a sport can possess among many other things. When someone is asked if they have integrity the person must think about what qualities are associated with integrity.

The word “ integrity” seems to float around me, its very existence locked in my mind. The word integrity will never be forgotten, never be lost, but the meaning behind the word integrity has yet to be discovered. Oprah Winfrey once said “Real integrity is doing the right thing, knowing that nobody's going to know whether you did it or not. ” Integrity is something I believe in and value greatly. To me integrity is doing the right thing even when no one else is watching. Most people always look for an easy choice, but it's not about the easy choice it's about the right choice.

A person of integrity does exactly what he says and says exactly what he means. There is no conflict between his thoughts and actions. His actions are consistent with the values he professes. According to Dr. William Manninger, A building without integrity may receive structural damage, or even collapse, in a storm. Similarly, people without integrity are blown about by the winds of misfortune and destroyed by catastrophes, for they lack the firmness, solidity, and strength of character to weather any storm. This means that integrity is one of the six essential qualities that are the key to success.

A person with integrity is humble – He is more concerned about what is right than about being right. He recognizes principle and puts it ahead of self.

Integrity is interpreted as a holistic phenomenon that incorporates personal characteristics, cognition, interpersonal awareness, and practical enactment-ultimately relating to matters society deems worthwhile. This approach enables integrity to be understood as both a personal morality and a social morality (Cleary and Horsfall, 2013). Integrity is about telling the truth always. It is about doing the right thing even when it can cost you everything. It is also the rules people should follow. It is viewed as an important component of professional nursing and a core value for nurses. I remember one day when my integrity was being challenged. I went to a bank to withdraw some money. The teller gave $300 more than the amount I intended to withdraw.

Integrity is how somebody lives their life. In this life we live, we face choices every day that only we can answer. We dictate how we run our own lives, and they way we run them defines us. Integrity is doing the right thing versus the wrong thing. People, if nothing else, can always have their pride, their integrity. It is something that means a lot to some people and then nothing to others. The ones who value their integrity highly are the good people in this world, and the opposite is true for those who do not value their integrity.

When I was a freshman in high school, my friends and I were in the lunch line discussing the math test we just had taken. To my surprise, I saw ten dollars on the floor and I picked it up. My friends wanted to spend the money on French fries. I told them no. My friend Amanda said it was her money, it fell out of her pocket. I did not believe her for one second. Earlier that day I overheard her talking about forgetting her lunch money on the dining room table. I saw Mr. Panchal walking past us. I got his attention and called him over. When he came over I explained that I found this money on the floor and it did not belong to us. He smiled and said thank you. A majority of society would have kept the money and used it for themselves. On the other hand, we have another part of society that would be honest to give the money back or leave it where they found it. Integrity is more than being honest; it demonstrates moral traits, such as performing your own kind of integrity and simply doing the norm in society.
