Essay Draft #3 Unity in Diversity Maya Angelou once said that “In diversity there is beauty and there is strength.” Have you ever thought how beautiful and powerful are diversities in this world? We have lots of colors in this world, tons of people come from a different place, ages, economics, ethnic and cultures. But before we go deeper into that, although I am pretty sure that most of you have known what is diversity, in case some of you are still wondering what is it, I am about to tell you then. Diversity can be defined as a variety or difference. Every human being has their own uniqueness by which it means, we all are different, these differences like ages, and religion as an example, can be found at any place, at home, park, or even college campuses. Diversity on campuses will impact society by being more respectful, open-minded, and increasing our knowledge or skills in order to make a peaceful world.
Having a different culture on campuses, like Foothill college, affects the society around them by interacting with each other, like the society in either Los Altos Hills or Mountain View. Foothill College is one of the best community colleges, here in the United States, located in the Los Altos Hills, that have lots of international students coming from different part of the world. Besides native American, there are Indonesian, Hispanic, Chinese, Japanese, Germans, Russian, African, and a lot more. Being exposed
Diversity will enhance life as it teaches you to live with different types of people and teaches you how to get along with different types of people. In a diverse community we learn to build relationships with different people and groups. Diversity can enhance our life as we can see how people who haven’t got what we have, have to live and how what we have, we should be proud of and appreciative.
The concept of diversity has allowed me to learn about other identities and the importance of representation. My experiences and exposure on campus have introduced me to diverse perspectives, religions, sexualities, and cultural members of our community. My roommate during my sophomore year was Jewish, and actively participated in Jewish traditions. Through our conversation
In a world that is becoming increasingly dynamic and interconnected where each of us are becoming more dependent on each other, diversity is a crucial element of life. Never in human history have students had available to them the
Diversity is to value that we are all unique and yet similar. We have different needs, interests, learning styles, language and personality etc.
For two days, I observed the first ten individuals entering the Jones-Sampson building located on the JSU campus. Observing these individuals allowed me the opportunity to explore how diversity is perceived from a small sample of the campus. I believe, a college campus is the perfect setting to view the hop topic called diversity. The population at JSU includes people from various countries, social economic backgrounds, class, gender, occupations, and sexual-orientation. According to the Webster dictionary, diversity entails the quality or state of having different forms, types, and ideas about something. For the purpose of this observation, the first ten individuals encountered were evaluated based on both their similarities and differences. The factors observed

There are many benefits for the course Exploring Diversity and Culture in the classroom. One benefit is being accepting and tolerates and not prejudice towards others. Once students have interacted or been expose to someone that is different from them such as people of all races, cultures, academic abilities, and people with handicapping condition you tend not to judge them and you become more accepting and tolerate.
As a member of several clubs and organizations, I have always valued the wide range of people you can find within the walls of my high school. If you walk into my Physics lab, you will find me collaborating with a dancer strongly involved in his cultural heritage and a volleyball player in the engineering academy. If you come to my Calculus class, you will see me calculating derivatives with a football player, a snowboarder, a National Honor Society officer, and a painter. The word “diversity” is often used to describe a cross-cultural population, but it is so much more than that. At Bartlett High School, students originate from hundreds of different cultures, with an abundance interests, and participate together in an assortment of activities.
I believe that "Diversity" plays important roles in our lives. Without diversity, we cannot widen our field of view. Diversity helps us to open up our eyes and our world. From reading the essay "How diversity makes us smarter", written by Katherine W Phillips, I learned that there are some negative effects brought up by the social diversity where dialog of inclusion is advanced, but mostly diversity is something that has positive effect in our society and even individual. I could also reflect and make connection with my experience of moving from non diverse community to diverse community.
Diversity is an ongoing discussion in day-to-day life. Not many situations occur without diversity having a role. There are a multitude of topics that introduces or involves diversity, to include age, sex, race, gender, ethnicity and so on. Prior to participating in this Diversity Awareness class, I’ve always thought diversity was more geared around discrimination and racism. Through weekly readings and discussions, I have discovered that diversity is much broader than that. There are many countries that are mixed culturally
Diversity is an important and beautiful concept in our society and this essay will prove why. Reasons to support this are it makes each individual life worthwhile, it helps us evolve and become better and it can build closer relationships.
The world is filled different cultures, races and ethnicities, and it is crucial that our higher education institutions reflect this diversity. Representation matters. We are a country filled with diverse cultures all of which whom need to be represented. The purpose of this literature review is to explain why and how diversity in a higher education setting is important. Students learn better in such an environment and are better prepared to become active participants in our pluralistic, democratic society once they leave school Diversity is not only important among the student population but also within college curriculum. It is an important issue regardless of the setting. However, when it is applied it to a place where people come to learn,
Within the core of many educational institutions, diversity is a commercial tacit. While every institution cannot offer the same kind of diversity, the endorsement of such exists through various definitions. The Western Association of Schools and Colleges define diversity through the various classes: race, ethnicity, socioeconomic status, gender, disability, national origin, religion, sexual orientation, and age (“Statement on Diversity”)
