On this glorious morning, I’m Nurul Ezzatul Atiqah Suad as alumni of this school going to give a talk about “Why breakfast is the most important meal of the day?” In my speech, I am going to share with you some facts in my observation, experience and knowledge about this. Growth and development of the brain depends on the intake of nutritious and balanced diet. If they do not take breakfast, waiting for the next meal can take up to 18 hours. The term ‘semi-starvation’ can cause a variety of issues, such as physical problem, intellectual, and behavioral of the students. Thus, breakfast is the most important meal must be taken, especially the students, but still many of them do not take it and enjoy it.. Food selection should also be emphasized. The importance of a healthy breakfast cannot be underestimated. A child who is undernourished in the morning will not be functional for her class until lunch. Also, schools can act as supporters of positive, healthy behaviors by offering nutritious breakfasts such as fruit and yogurt, versus the fast food breakfasts some adolescents might grab, if they get breakfast at all. Many school districts are beginning earlier and earlier in the day, and students are simply not hungry enough or do not get up early enough in the morning for breakfast, leaving them starving by 10am.
