There are many ways for a woman to get pregnant but the most common way is were the sperm makes a journey between the bodies of a man and woman during unprotected sexual intercourse. The sperm’s journey starts at the testicles, which start producing sperm at the start of puberty. When a man ejaculates during sexual intercourse around 250 million sperm cells that are stored in the testicles get pushed through the tube, vas deferens and then are mixed with fluids from the the prostate gland and seminal vesicle. Then all of the combined fluids pass the males urethra and then enter the female reproductive system in hopes of impregnating the female.
From there the sperm cells travel through the cervical canal into the uterine cavity and then into
The epididymis, a small coiled tube, is located next to the testes, and is continuous with the sperm duct.
There are to methods consisting of an electrical block and mechanical block, which prevents penetration of additional sperms during oocyte activation. Electrical block involves the absences of fertilization (the oocyte contains a negative charge within and the sperm a positive charge). For instance, if an oocyte comes into contact with a sperm the negative charge within the oocyte changes to positive resulting any other sperms from penetrating the oocyte since the repulsive forces between like charges. However, a mechanical block operates primarily in mammals and other animals such as endoplasmic reticulum. The calcium ion stimulates the vesicles to undertake exocytosis of molecules from cortical granules modifying the extracellular membranes such as the vitelline membrane and the zona pellucida to harden preventing polyspermy, therefore, resulting in creating a barrier against ruther sperm penetration. However, in mammals the first sperm to enter into the egg; the cortical granules found in the cortex of the egg secretes a serine protease allowing it to shift its properties of the membrane of the zona pellucida typically the layer found outside the plasma membrane. The protease grinds up the proteins and function as a receptor in binding a sperm (i.e. ZP3 glycoproteins and ZP2) as well as the ones that adhere the cell membrane to the vitelline envelope. The secreted molecules consist of
They extend about 4 inches laterally from either sides of the uterus to the ovaries. It is in the fallopian tubes that fertilization normally occurs. The tube transports the ovum, or egg, from an ovary to the uterus, but the tubes do make direct contact with the ovaries.
Semen is composed of sperm and secretions from three exocrine glands-the seminal vesicles, bulbourethral glands, and the prostate gland. 3. Seminiferous tubules are located in the testes- the vas deferens is not; there is more than one seminiferous tubule-there is only one vas deferens; seminiferous tubules have meiotic cells in their walls-the vas deferens does not; and the vas deferens has abundant smooth muscle cells in its wall-seminiferous tubules do not. 4. The sperm’s flagellum enables it to swim to an egg, and its head contains digestive enzymes that help it penetrate the egg’s outer layers.
The penis is the male organ through which sperm cells are transferred from the male to the female. The penis contains three columns of erectile tissue. Engorgement of this erectile tissue with blood causes the penis to enlarge and become firm this process is called erection. Two of the erectile columns form the dorsum and sides of the penis and are called the corpora cavernosa. The third column, the corpus spongiosum, forms the ventral portion of the penis. It expands to form a cap over the distal end of the penis. The spongy urethra passes through the corpus spongiosum, penetrates the glans penis, and opens as the external urethral orifice. At the base of
I always say to my family, “One day we will cross la frontera!” Living in Guadalajara, Mexico was not for the faint of heart. My family didn’t have much money and it was hard watching them sleeping on dirt floors. Mama, Roberto, and Francisco deserved better that what they had. I always imagined us crossing over to the beautiful United States. I knew one day we would cross that border so my family could have a better life.
Number Seventy-Three: The Odds are Against You. In every ejaculation, about two to five million sperm are released. That’s two to five million chances to get pregnant; think about that next time you go without protection.
There is a variety of method which allows the separation of sperm but very few of these have withstood scientific checks which prove they work.
http://kidshealth.org/parent/interactive/frs_it.html In this interactive diagram/demonstration we have pictured the vagina, uterus, fallopian tubes, and the ovaries. When you scroll over a particular part of the picture it will give you the name, what it is, and the function of that part. For instance if you scrolled over the Fallopian Tubes it will tell you that it is a thin soft tube that connects the Uterus to the Ovaries. During ovulation the ovaries will release an egg/s and they will travel through the fallopian tube to the uterus. Essentially it’s the road way. I find this valuable because you can tell someone something about their body all day long but it’s nothing like seeing what it is and how it works for you to
pass into the uterus. If this happens, the embryo may implant in the tube causing a tubal
First, when a sperm enters thorught the cervix, into the uterus and then into the fallopian tubes of the female its basically looking for a single egg to fertilise. Each day of this process different things happens to the female body. The baby’s body changes and forms body parts. As the embryo grows from
“Nationwide, one out of four students from the ages twelve to eighteen have been bullied. That is twenty five percent to the teenage/young adult population and these numbers are continuously to rise every day” (Wassdorp, Bradshaw, and Leaf 116, 149-156). Bullying is the action of repeated harmful acts or harassing another in various forms. Many situations fall under one or even multiple of these categories: physical, verbal, indirect, and cyber. What this does is strips the victim down from their identity and leaves them to pity themselves for being the way they are. Bullying is an issue in this nation because it tears apart the teenage/young adult population, and it is causing an increase in risk of suicide among these groups. Bullying is

The Female Reproductive System structures are the egg / ovum. Its created and stored inside the ovaries. The vagina is an elastic, muscular tube that connects the cervix of the uterus to the exterior of the body. The uterus is a hollow, muscular, pear-shaped organ located posterior and superior to urinary bladder. The Fallopian tubes are a pair of muscular tubes that extends from the left and right superior corners of the uterus to the edge of the ovaries. The ovaries are a pair of small glands about the size
Do you know how you were born? Do you know how you came to be? The reproductive system is the system that made that all possible. Without the reproductive system you wouldn’t have been born. In order to produce offspring, the male and female reproductive systems have to be different. Each system has different parts, problems and care. Each system have different purposes, the male reproductive system’s function is to produce sperm, while the female reproductive system’s function is to produce ova, store ova and house a fertilized egg.
