The history of Spider-Man first started off with an idea of a writer named Stan Lee; then there is a present day version of the hero; Peter Parker, and how he fights with his dark side, Venom.
When Stan Lee proposed the idea of a hero with spider-like characteristics to Martin Goodman, Martin turned it down because many people do not enjoy spiders. “He said that Spider-Man seemed more like a comedy character than a powerful superhero. Since most people don’t like spiders, Goodman thought that the name “Spider-Man” was a terrible choice,” (1 Patel). At the time, Wonder Woman had powers similar to the male superheroes of the time because most female heroes were minor characters with limited powers. “Then, as now, most comic book characters were male. Spider-Man is one of my favorite heroes of all time. Spider-Man was a teenager named Peter Parker with spider like abilities. Peter visited a laboratory to see a famous doctor and was bit by a spider that gave him superpowers. Peter was given powers such as super strength, fast reflexes and the ability to shoot webs from his hands. There are four different movies of Spider-Man fighting villains. My favorite villain that Spider-Man faced was Doctor Octopus. Doctor Octopus was an intelligent mad scientist (Otto Octavius), who built four, powerful mechanical appendages and attached the appendages to himself. In Spider-Man 2, Doctor Octopus would rob banks so that he can buy expensive equipment for his lab. The equipment Doctor Octopus bought resembles how much of a genius he desired to be.
