The Spikerush is from the Cyperaceae family. The common name is Eleocharis spp. It is also known as Eleocharis Palustris, Marsh Spike-rush, Creeping Spike-rush and it grows in the Spring. The Latin mane for Spikerush is Eleocharis Palustris. The Spikerush name is acquired from the Greek words Charis which means grace and Heleios, which means marsh dweller. Spikerush grows to a maximum height of four feet at maturity. The growth rate is moderate and takes 20 years before it is fully grown. The Spikerush will adapt and grow in fine, medium and coarse-textured soil. The Spikerush is a perennial plant and can grow underwater. They can also grow in water that is shallow or in soil that is moist. Spikerush grows in part shade to full sunlight.
