On October 23rd, I attended an academic event, on the Kennesaw State campus, called Spooky Math. The event was located outside the Math and Statistics building, near the visitors’ parking lot and Clendenin Building. Spooky Math was intended to involve students in the math department in a fun and interactive way. This was achieved by incorporating a Halloween theme to the event. Students and faculty members dressed up in creepy costumes and many brought carved pumpkins that resembled math equations. Students solved challenging math equations and voted on the pumpkins in order to win prizes. In the process of doing all of these activities, we got the chance to meet many faculty members that are involved in the math department. Spooky Math also
It’s been said that ghost are not real and real.Let me tell you a little bought what i think and facts about ghost poltergeist and paranormal activity.
The loud buzz of the intercom whines throughout the school, announcing the event of the day, at least in our eyes. “... like math? Don’t forget to attend the Fall Outreach at Lupine Hills Elementary School!” and the silent apprehension of the day is met with cheers from the “nerds” in the classroom. We call out one of the perks of volunteering in outreaches: “C’mon guys, you get community service hours!” Flash-forward to later in the evening. We begin with “spookifying” the room, placing pumpkins that were carved with an array of faces, from the kawaii to the frightening. The elementary school principal loves it. The students eyes are caught in the heat of a dollar bill that seems to be burning, but is left untouched by the flames. A pair to the left have their hands sticky with the scientific phenomenon of “oobleck”, smashing cornstarch and cleaning fluid into heavy balls and then letting it drip like honey through their fingers. Across the room are children covering their ears and giggling at the squeaky noises dry ice makes when in contact with metal. Even more are ogling at the cookies and cream ice cream made from the dry ice, the show stopper of the
Dr. Gabor Mate, a Hungarian born Canadian physician, who is also a neurologist, psychiatrist, and psychologist, but who specializes in the study and treatment of addiction, reveals revolutionary evidence pertaining to addiction. In Vancouver’s Downtown Eastside, Dr. Mate worked with patients suffering chronic drug addiction for 12 years. With 20 years of experience as a family practitioner, Dr. Mate is a renowned speaker and teacher throughout North America; sharing his extensive knowledge with diverse audiences including health care professionals and educators (Mate, About Dr. Mate, 2016). The Realm of Hungry Ghosts, Dr. Mate’s most recent best-selling book, illuminates the origins and causes of addiction. As Co-founder of Compassion for Addiction (a non-profit organization), Dr. Gabor Mate encourages a greater understanding; “addiction is the attempt of affected human beings to escape a profound discomfort with themselves and their world” (Mate, Compassion4Addiction, 2015). Drawing on cutting-edge science, Dr. Mate presents the world with a shocking discovery: “The source of addiction is not to be found in genes, but in the early childhood environment.” Therefore, Dr. Mate simply “calls for a more compassionate approach toward the addict.” (Mate, 2016) As cutting-edge science concludes addiction to be a mental health issue, rather than criminal behavior, the American legal system demonstrates a devastating disservice to its own society.
If you believe in ghosts, you aren’t alone. A YouGov survey of about 1,000 people says that 45% of people believe that ghosts or spirits of the dead can come back and interact with us. It kind of sounds crazy to believe that people can stick around after they die and even interact with objects in our world, but so many people swear they have encountered something that they can’t explain. I’ve always grew up really skeptical of these things. The Idea that spirits stick around with us after death is an ancient one, and is incorporated into countless literature, from the Bible to “Macbeth”. It has inspired so many different kinds of media like horror movies, ghost stories, and tv shows. I grew up watching some of these things, and the question always remained in my head: Are ghosts real? I really wanted to answer that in this senior project. I think I finally have a good answer that I’m going to stick with.
Move over gentlemen, the all-new, all-female cast of Ghostbusters are here. Due to release on July 15 of next year, the Paul Feig-directed reboot has already signed on Melissa McCarthy as one of the main leads and is negotiating with Kristen Wiig, as well as Saturday Night Live players Leslie Jones and Kate McKinnon. If all goes as planned McCarthy will be playing as Abby Bergman, a lady ready to bust any ghost. Wiig as Erin Gabler, Jones as Patty Tolan, and McKinnon as Jillian Holtzmann. According to Entertainment Weekly, the four women will be facing off with the undead criminals of New York’s past. The magazine describes the army as "pilgrims, old timey sailors, Revolutionary War spirits, and even a couple of zoot-suited gangsters". Although the new movie is an all-female cast, it is said that there will be cameos from the original 1984 Ghostbusters stars. The original comedy’s-stars Bill Murray, Annie Potts, Dan Aykroyd, Ernie Hudson, and Sigourney Weaver are lined up to appear.
The world is filled with many untouched wonders that we have yet to discover, as well as fully understand. We have uncovered a significant portion of the natural and the nature of science on this planet, but what about the supernatural? There are some situations in life in which we simply cannot apply the knowledge that we have learned so far. For example, in class we spoke about the mysterious repetitive, consistent knocking the Fox sisters heard. Scientific explanations cannot always explain the natural world, and it only makes sense to therefore view these situations with a different, outside perspective. That is, supernatural forces exist. The objective of this paper is to not only support this domain of science of this undermined world, but to explain how such supernatural instances plays an impact on its characters’ lives.
I am testing the pseudoscience of haunted houses. In the history of the world there has been multiple reporting’s of haunted houses. The majority of these reporting’s have been about buildings in which tragic or violent events have happened. Locations include old penitentiaries, insane asylums, or houses where murders have occurred. In this experiment I propose a test after all other possible explanations have been canceled out. Such explanations include creepy sounds, unexplained drafts, and the like. These could be due to a leaky pipe, unstable foundations or even people’s own perceptions of things around them.
Some nights I lie awake wondering what would it be like if she wasn’t out there that day, i should have stayed in the house with her or got better straps on the flour barrels. At times I think she is in the kitchen or that she left me, the day it happened, I blamed the world and blamed my workers. The way she died was like she always gave all the workers, their lunch and one of the barrels crushed her to death. We were all shocked what happened, everyone I know came to that funeral. Several people were crying and after the funeral, I got new straps and wagon and got a bigger grindstone for the mill and everyone had a partner to make sure no one gets hurt.
Chainsaw, Black Prince and Red Demon, attend MBS (“Most barbaric school”), which consists of 120% delinquents, including themselves. They were given the nicknames, due to a minor incident, in which Chainsaw and Red Demon broke the arm, back, and legs of Black Prince’s brother, resulting in a fight which lasted almost a second. This became a dreadful fight, affecting countless people, ruining the eyes of those who watched. Chainsaw and Black Prince fought hard and long until Black Prince lost the staring contest. The moment they began they knew that Chainsaw had won because Black Prince had sneezed.
Mystery ships are ships where something indescribable or unknown has occurred on that ship. For instance, the whole crew could have died like on the SS Ourang Medan, or the whole crew could have disappeared like on the Resolven, or even the ship could disappear like on the SS Baychimo. When these things happen with no evidence to prove what occurred, they become a mystery. These three ships have become some of the most well-known ghost stories today.
Ghosts, as with any other misunderstood group or people, have been preyed upon by others without understanding. The lack of knowledge about ghosts and haunting activity has led people astray as to what they really are. What Hollywood and television portrays is very inaccurate and cannot be relied upon as truthful. They show these spirits of the dead as being evil in nature, filled with malice and harmful intent. But that this is not the case. The field of paranormal activity is amazing. It has caught the imagination of people from every walk of life. It has always interested me and has influenced me to pick this as the topic for my research. Through this research I wish to uncover the truth about the existence of ghosts.
David just smiled. He often did that - smile at me like I was a kid who just did something highly amusing. I hated it. In a drawling voice, he said, "Well if you plead so sweetly." He turned his gaze to Triana. "You wouldn't mind checking up on Jeremy to see if he hasn't died in the toilet, or something, will you?"
Do ghosts and spirits really exist?, I think ghost and spirits are real because I have experienced it before, and I know other people have also. Many people have gifts where they can see ghosts and spirits during the day and ,maybe, somtimes in the morning. If you did not know stuff can happen if you and your friends or family are all in a room. Like chairs move, doors opening. She held up a finger, ran out of the room a few second later she was back and shoved something in my purse. I walked over and took it from her and looked inside. “Mother! I don’t need these!” I yelled.
High upon a lonely hill surrounded by a great dark forest, stood an ancient, crumbling manor, known as the Haunted House. The windows were all smashed and it looked like the house was used a long time ago and was never used again. The font gates were as old as the hills. It belonged to a greedy old man, he was as short as a stump, he was really grumpy and fat who everyone said he was a wizard. Even though he owned the immense haunted house he didn’t dare to go inside because he was frightened like a child in dark, so he lived in the small cottage in the grounds of the manor, with just his black cat for company. He was as lonely as the master who has go to war, but hews happy, because he had a true love. His true love was gold, and he had
