Just My Two Cents In her book, The Curious Feminist, Cynthia Enloe argues that inner-city boys who aspire to become professional basketball players are convinced that certain brands of shoes will make them better players . She does not substantiate this claim by evidence that shows the presence of this strong belief as well as the reasons behind it. Henceforth I recommend Enloe to support her claim by analyzing this conviction from the amateur basketball players’, the corporate world’s, the professional basketball player's point of view. First, Enloe should conduct a survey in all the inner-city high schools with a good basketball team. This survey will assess whether high school basketball players believe that brand-name shoes give them an extra advantage over their opponents during their game.

Jim Thorpe is a super hero of sports. He is a man who has a love for sports. He has played many sports, and is a true hero in the sports world. He was not only amazing at track and football, but he was also very good at swimming, lacrosse, basketball, wrestling, golf, and tennis. He was born May 28, 1887, and was born near a town called Prague in Oklahoma. His father was a farmer, and his name was Hiram Thorpe. His mother was a Potawatomi Indian named Mary James. Thorpes Native American name was Wa­Tho­Huk, which means “bright path.” He started off very young with great athletic abilities. This showed when he learned to ride horses and swim at the age of 3. Jim loved the outdoors as a boy, especially hunting. Jim had a twin brother, and they were very close. His brother was named Charlie. In 1904 Thorpe and his brother started school in Carlisle Industrial School in Pennsylvania. Whenever they were in school Charlie enjoyed it, but Jim did not. He wasn’t very good so Charlie had to help him through. At the age of 9 Charlie got sick and ended up dying. Thorpe was heartbroken he wanted to quit school. He even ended up running twenty­three miles’ home to his parents. Whenever he first started his athletic career at his school he played football and track. In 1907 he proved his amazing abilities whenever he jumped over a high jump pole 5 feet 9 inches. At first Thorpe was never given the opportunity to try out for the team. Ricardo Kaka, Zindine Zidane, these are the names of two legendary soccer players who represent the polarized sides of a very diverse spectrum of player attitudes, behaviors, and perspectives. Each player demonstrates a very high level of skill and determination that has brought them fans from across the globe, however one has conducted himself to a higher standard following respect and demonstrating fairness and honorable behaviors, whereas the other has acted disgracefully on multiple occasions and has sealed himself into the infamous side of the history books. These ideals must be reviewed and analyzed in order to understand what we have become as audiences, and what we venerate in society. Will we promote ethics or immorality? I believe these reflections can reveal a great sum about how we conduct ourselves and how we truly regard ethics in sports.

In the 1970s the NBA was a parity it had all players to be treated equally. The 70s had a mixture of great players that were striving to be one of the best and they did accomplish that by becoming great in their respected teams. All decades past and present have their teams. The 1950s had the Minneapolis Lakers dominating most of that decade. The 1960s had been dominated by the Boston Celtics led by the great Bill Russell winning eleven championships with the Celtics. The 80s was dominated by two dynasties the Los Angeles Lakers and the Boston Celtics with the Lakers coming up top on most of them. The 1990s the Bulls dominated most of it. It was led by the G.O.A.T himself Michael Jordan. In the present time the NBA is being dominated by the Golden State Warriors led by a group with Steph, Klay, Kevin, and Draymond. The 1970s didn’t really have any team to dominate that decade it was very well balanced their were 8 teams that came out victorious in that decade. There was no Back-to-Back champions that decade and it was most by any decade.

Couldn’t profit or promote his family made business of Big Baller Brand (BBB) because of NCAA eligibility rules. His little brother LaMelo Ball could lose his NCAA eligibility for making and profiting off his own signature shoe. These athletes all have something in common. All these athletes, these people have either had their eligibility taken or in jeopardy because they were profiting off their image, content, or likeness. The use of specific athletes in marketing campaigns really began to show promise when athletes like Jordan began wearing their own brands of shoes. The idea to consumers or fans of the NBA that they could wear the same shoes as Michael Jordan, and somehow play like him was an easy sell by Nike. Today it is now common for marketable athletes in almost all sports to wear their own style of shoes, spikes, or skates. An interesting point to make is that through Nike Michael Jordan eventually launched his own clothing line called Jumpman23 that makes everything from socks and underwear to winter coats. Even though Jordan has been retired since 1999 the Jumpman23 company has continued to release a new shoe every single year that are simply called “Jordan 24”, an increasing corresponding number to the number of years the shoes have been produced. Heroics is used very broadly and can consist of many different aspects of ones= feats or achievements. While researching this topic, I have found that there are numerous ways to describe a hero. Greatness in sports is a status that only very few reach, however to be labeled the greatest athlete of all time is for that one soul individual who excels at all aspects of the game and exceeds every other player in that sport.
