After throughly researching careers within the Sports Management field, I believe I would be interested in working as a Director of Player Personnel. The Director of Player Personnel is a management position within a sports organization whose main job is to support the athletes on the team (Berner). This specific position is extremely significant for all athletic teams in amateur, college, and professional leagues. Getting a job within the sports field is highly competitive, but their are more opportunities now than ever before.
The next step in educational career is going to be attending Florida State University, because it is one of the best public universities in the state and it manages one of the highest ranking sports management programs. Since my plan is to further my education as a short term goal and then I planned to embrace the opportunities that this grading of the sea has to offer and
What are the differences in athletic administration between interscholastic and recreational sport programs? What is the importance of having a mission statement in any sport program?
"Be a sport," young people are admonished. "Play fair." "Play by the rules." Everywhere in the developed world, sports are raised high up on social pedestals as redeeming activities that characterize the best of the human spirit, fair competition, and physical achievement. Society welcomes athleticism due largely to anticipation of the wholesome and upstanding values with which it is associated. Character is said to be built through participation in sports. While certainly there are elements of these high expectations and standards for athletes, there too has been a steady erosion of these traditional foundations and nowhere is this more evident than in collegiate sports. Intercollege sports are big business, and those associated with it take a very business-like attitude toward the games (Eitzen & Sage, 1978). The driver in intercollegiate sports is competition, just as it is in business (Eitzen & Sage, 1978). And, as in business, unfair advantage is translated into competitive edge. Responsibility morphs into power. In such an environment, the notion of cheating becomes blurred (Eitzen & Sage, 1978). Recruitment of college athletes commonly means looking the other way when rules are broken. Athletes are paid under the table, and are admitted according to a separate set of rules than those
“Only 8% of high school athletes go to the next level.” There are very few kids that will pick a school sport over a travel/AAU sport. A sport of choice is anyone's decision, but who you play for could be a big factor. Kids from all around the world play travel sports trying to improve on specific skills. This could lead kids into not playing for their own high school team, but going and playing for someone trying to gain recognition or get a higher level of competition. The cycle of kids abandoning their team for a travel team needs to stop; it is taking away from the community as a whole and MHSAA should issue restrictions against students choosing travel leagues over school sports.
As such, it's often top-ranked nationally and has long been considered a good value in higher education by publications like U.S. News and World Report, Fortune, and Consumer Reports. The school's large size means that its sports management program, part of the B.S.B.A. degree track, enjoys a large regional and nationwide network, with strong internship and professional opportunities that help students maximize their ROI upon graduating with the degree.
The Department of Athletics recognizes that the athletics program must be supportive of the university 's mission, to inspire learning through excellence in teaching, to stimulate creativity, to conduct scholarly research and to direct significant institutional resources to the community it serves. Therefore, the Department of Athletics understands that its primary mission is to develop student-athletes as complete individuals and educated citizens who are fully prepared to contribute positively to society. Sam Houston State University consists of 17 teams - 10 for women and 7 for men, with a total of more than 400 student-athletes. The department serves these athletes with help, support, and guidance for both their academic and athletic duties.
Organized sports helps children learn to cope with others. Children also develope a strong sense of identity and pride. Organized sports, music lessons, and scout meetings can show ones difference and talents. It teaches children how to work with others, and use their creativity as a tool. In my opinion, I believe the Kingsborough Athletic Department handles culture diversity exceptionally well. The opportunity to work with the athletic department has enabled me to meet students and staff from different cultures and various backgrounds. Kingsborough Community College students represent 142 national backgrounds and speak 73 different languages. The college is so diverse; there’s opportunity to work with the athletic department staff that are from different cultures and various backgrounds. In addition, some of the student-athletes who represent Kingsborough sports teams are from different cultures. Furthermore, the athletic department recruits any student-athlete from anywhere regardless of their culture or background. Recruiting
These athletes had a great idea, but first they had to earn the right to become a union. The players had to go through the National Labor Relations Board (NLRB) The NLRB considered the question of whether football players on athletic scholarships at Northwestern University are employees under the National Labor Relations Act (Patterson). After 16 months of deliberation the NLRB dismissed the Northwestern players’ petition. It was dismissed because Northwestern football players were not employees under federal labor law and could not unionize because of it. (Mccann) Although Northwestern players did not succeed they still made great progress. Since they started the movement in 2013 and a lot of positive changes has come from this movement.

Education has always been emphasized in my life, and my family has done whatever possible to ensure I am always obtaining the best one possible. So when that meant taking extra classes, attending the middle school with longer hours, or leaving the city to go to a school very unlike home those were all things I did. When I knew money was an issue I began to make sure to work ten times harder to qualify for any scholarships or opportunities out there. It has been far from easy. However, although financial need is the biggest concern my family and I have there is one thing I have found myself especially struggling with, reassurance.
Planning and managing a sport venue during any event can be challenging even to the most seasoned facility managers. There are many factors that a facility manager must consider in order to ensure the event is a success.
