Many people in this world want to make a difference in life, by what they do as a career when they have figured out what they wanna do in their lives. Every person from when they are young want to be something in their life and succeed in that field. I remember when i was little, watching my grandpa coach my uncle and his football or baseball team depending on the season and, always being fascinated by the knowledge he had about the game. I was amazed by how much he had offer to the players on what to do and how to do it successfully, for me when i was little i always saw the coach to the review before the test letting you know what's gonna happen during the test/game.
This assignment will involve me discussing the roles, responsibilities and skills of two sports coaches, Alex Ferguson and Linford Christie.
My topic is similar to yours. I have always been intrigued to examine the relationship between coach and athlete. In my experience, I have found coaches who provide positive support and are constructive with their criticism are more enjoyable to play for and give the athlete a more positive experience. Coaches that come across as condescending seem to push kids away from the game. It is important that the student-athlete has a positive experience, especially student-athletes at a young age. I feel if a student-athlete has a negative experience at the interscholastic level he or she will be less likely to stick with the sport.
to examine the state of sport in the UK. The report recommendated a focus on young people
2. Understand the factors that influence children and young people’s development and how these affect practice.
A Coach is somebody who develops, improves or promotes changes in a persons ability and understanding. Coaches work with another person or a group of people and develops them as people using sport to progress them in their development. All coaches have certain responsibilities towards performers, their sport, their profession and themselves. Below I have identified what a coach may be required to fulfil.
Coaches and athletic personnel are examples of ethical behavior in their personal and professional lives. They must have a clear perspective for their role and responsibility toward the organization, the team, and the athlete. Therefore, it is important to give consideration to the relationship between personal and professional responsibility; and also to whether there are limitations to loyalty to the organization or team.

As a professional football coach and been working with children for the past thirty years, the motivation I have to study this module is I believe the children are our future and to help children to develop their potential by believing in them as capable individuals. While it can be amazing for the children when we get involved in their activities, they aren’t the only ones that benefit and with my experience as a coach and also speaking to their parents I can say that as a coach I have gained a great deal from their experience and I feel It’s an important thing to never stop learning, I also believe it’s this what keeps us young and helps us to relate to the children as they develop new skills and it shows the children that you’re willing to get out of your comfort zone, this I feel is a really good thing for me as a coach to role model and to know the importance of installing positive values in the children, so they themselves can learn a lot of life lessons along the way, I feel the number one reason kids play a sport, in my opinion, is that its fun and honestly, so is coaching by getting to know the kids, helping them learn, seeing them gain confidence, and taking risks is part of what makes it so great, for me as a coach you get to run around and play with the kids and that is fun at any age.
Being a sports coach is a stressful career, you have to have a bachelor’s degree. They also have to train in CPR and first aid and sometimes in sports safety and coaching fundamentals. Coaches use research to find new plays to use. Sport coaches use qualitative and quantitative research every week. Sport coaches have to be really good with kids or they could lose their jobs.
Surveys were taken by sport England who allocate money to sport within the country and services, to find out who was participating to find out if participation had improved or not, the surveys importance is high as it is used by Sport England (2014) how to spread their funding and services. Sports coaches can either operate in a professional or voluntary role depending on what coach you want to become. The price range for this particular job can vary from millions to nothing. Skills required to become a sports manager include communication skills, motivational talks and speeches. Planning ahead of time, quick decision making, desire to want to develop those who are participating. Coaches can be made to work in many different environments from playing fields and tracks to gyms, in all kinds our weather conditions. Becoming a sports coach may have an impact on your personal life due
I am applying for a place on the MA Exercise and Sport course in the Manchester Metropolitan University because I am very interested in the topics covered particularly Coaching Studies. My interest in this areas was first aroused during my Sport Coaching and School Sport undergraduate studies at the University of Manchester Metropolitan University where I studied and completed the programme and have been awarded a BA (Hons) Sport Class Two, Division One (Upper Second), which I hope will demonstrate my academic ability to study at this level. During my undergraduate, I sourced documents and media programmes relating to Sport Coaching and my interest was further aroused when reading that good players need talent but they also need good and qualified coach who took the appropriate coaching
When working for LET ME PLAY, I had to follow their policies and procedures but as I coached the groups of young people I also had my own rules within my coaching philosophy and also set my own goals ensuring they were specific, measurable, achievable, realistic and timed. It was my responsibility as their Sports Practitioner to take control of each session and ensure each young person who participated was included in everything, respected and supported and was given the best possible experiences and opportunities available to help develop them further (Sports Coach UK, 2014). When I structured and delivered my sessions I had to be aware of and take into consideration each young person’s needs e.g. age, ability and background etc…as these
This project was conducted with 6 mentees and 6 mentors over a 9-month long period. The start of the research project was not jumping straight in with sports coaching, but relationship building. The mentors had weekly meetings with their mentees to hear about their lives and just talk to them informally so the mentee would feel comfortable around their mentor before they moved to the next step in the project: using narratives. The mentors slowly starting incorporating sports stories into their meetings as a method of preparing the mentees for the physical activity portion of the project, which is the sports. By the end of this process the mentor and mentee had played a game-of-the-day, whether that be table tennis or badminton or any other sport, sat down to discuss the game, and relate the game to real-life situations to show how sports can be used for life skills development and goal setting. They also showed how sports can be used for good sportsmanship
