I have always had a passion for sports from a young age whether it is participating or learning the biomechanics of how sport affects our bodies. At GCSE, I was able to gain understanding of not only the physical side of PE but also the theory which sparked my interest in sports therapy, this was then continued throughout my A level studies.
Studying my A levels has increased my eagerness to study Sport Science. In Biology, I find studying energy systems and how the body reacts to changes such as an increase in movement particularly interesting. In Chemistry, I'm interested in how chemicals in drinks or food can react and improve or worsen our health and learning about reactions within the human body. In PE I enjoy learning aspects like attitudes and how psychology affects performance and how to fuel the body to achieve the best results in competition.

I also help to coach the younger netball team where I motivate and encourage children aged 7-14 to get involved. I often have to create my own drills and present them to the children in a way they can learn and understand which has developed my communication skills. I also gained C award in Netball Umpiring where I took a course in order to fully know and understand the rules and be able to officiate junior games. This has involved teaching football, hockey, cricket as well as other PE activities, refereeing matches against other school and helping out with events such as sports day. I am a sports scholar and represented my schools 2nd XI at football and 1st XI at hockey and cricket, where I was ranked 16th in the country in the Wisden schools bowling averages last year. Away from school, I am a qualified ECB Level 1 Cricket Coach and I am undertaking the Level 2 course in coaching young people and adults this winter, with the hope that I will be qualified by April. Over the summer months, I coach softball cricket to children in year 2 at my local club. It has given me great satisfaction over the last few years to see players that I have coached progress through the club in the same way I have and also break into the District and Kent Performance Boys Squads. This gives me the confidence that a career in teaching others is what I want to do.
My experiences and intellectual growth thus far have provided me with valuable knowledge related to the field of athletic training. While this knowledge has served me quite well as an undergraduate student at the University of Iowa, there are still areas that I wish to explore in depth to further develop my athletic training practice. In other words, my time as an athletic training student has helped to shape a variety of questions regarding different uses of manual therapies, injury prevention, and the psychological implications of various injuries. I believe an advanced graduate program will help me explore these questions and improve my patient care by allowing me to immerse myself in a new environment full of diverse learning opportunities. As the starting Varsity goaltender, I hold a vital leadership role within the locker room which is mentoring the sophomore backup goalie. I work with my net partner to improve his game through practices and warm up sessions. I believe it is my responsibility to pass my hockey knowledge along to him to insure he has the utmost preparation when he takes over the starting role next year.
Choosing a vocation can be a daunting task. With the world ever-evolving, one may come across a new attractive career every year. In order to ensure optimal job satisfaction, it is vital to educate oneself about every alluring prospect prior to committing. Simple factors like the time commitment and salary can mean the difference between a content existence and a miserable one.
As we begin to grow up and come to the end of our high school career we must start to begin to start thinking about what type of career we want to be in. It is very important that a person picks the right type of career for them. Otherwise you will be unhappy with what you are doing and will not enjoy it at all. I am not entirely sure what I want my career to be but I have a pretty good idea as to what type of job it will be. I would like to go into the field of a physical therapist and sports medicine, I fell I will enjoy this more than any other type of career just because I already have a lot of interest in it.

Participation in sport alone has not been enough for me. A degree in Sport and Exercise Science is the obvious option to satisfy my fascination with how the human body functions, a deep-rooted passion which has only been amplified by my own exploits as an athlete.
This study deals with high school athletics and their long-term effect in the lives of those who participate; it also deals with the positive and negative aspects of athletics during high school, and the treatment of those who participate. This study was conducted with qualitative data obtained from five personal interviews with previous high school athletes. These five people come from a range of places, ages, and experience. Conclusions are that participation in high school athletics is a contributor to a better social life and experience during high school.
