St. Philip Neri is an important person to learn about. He was born on July 21, 1515 in Florence, Italy. He always had a great sense of humor and loved to be happy. He also was a very caring person. The church recognized him as a Saint in 1622, about 27 years after his death on May 26, 1595. His feast day is also on May 26. His symbol was a lily and an angel holding a book. He was known for a lily because he was so pure and nice to all people. He was a student studying theology and philosophy but he decided it was interfering with his relationship with God. He thought that night was the most important time to pray. One night when he was praying a streak of light came out of the darkness and went through his mouth and into his heart. That’s

Note that in the commandments concerning how to conduct war, certain tribes are singled out for complete destruction. Starting in verse sixteen, God commands the Israelites to kill everything, men, women, children, and their animals. Also note that in verse eighteen, He gives one of the reasons, “That they teach you not to do after all their abominations, which they have done unto their gods.”
There are many important themes and overtones to the book Night, by Eliezer Wiesel. One of the major themes from the book includes the protagonist, and author of his memoire, Elie Wiesel’s ever changing relationship with God. An example of this is when Moche the Beadle asked Elie an important question that would change his life forever, as the basis of his passion and aptitude for studying the ancient texts and teachings of Judaism, “When Moche the Beadle asked Elie why he prayed, Elie couldn 't think of an answer that truly described his faith, and thought, "a strange question, why did I live, why did I breathe?" (Wiesel 14).
He would make a short prayer in the morning, and a long prayer at night; and, strange as it may seem, few men would at times appear more devotional than he. The exercises of his family devotions were always commenced with singing; and, as he was a very poor singer himself, the duty of raising the hymn generally came upon me. He would read his hymn, and nod at me to commence. I would at times do so; at others, I would not. My non-compliance would almost always produce much confusion. To show himself independent of me, he would start and stagger through with his hymn in the most discordant manner. In this state of mind, he prayed with more than ordinary spirit. Poor man! such was his disposition, and success at deceiving, I do verily believe that he sometimes deceived himself into the solemn belief, that he was a sincere worshipper of the most high God" (P.
At night he would go out and look at the night across the water the shined at Daisy house. Then one day the light lost all it meaning.

“He saw the moon low in the sky now. The moon there and the light of the moon caused by what? By the sun of course. And what lights the sun? Its own fire. And the sun goes on, day after day, burning and burning. The sun and time. The sun and time and burning. Burning. The river bobbled him along gently. Burning. The sun and every clock on the earth. It all came together and became a single thing in his mind. After a long time of floating

The great field of mathematics stretches back in history some 8 millennia to the age of primitive man, who learned to count to ten on his fingers. This led to the development of the decimal scale, the numeric scale of base ten (Hooper 4). Mathematics has grown greatly since those primitive times, in the present day there are literally thousands of laws, theorems, and equations which govern the use of ten simple symbols representing the ten base numbers. The field of mathematics is ever changing, and therefor, there is a great demand for mathematicians to keep improving our skills in utilizing the numeric system. Many great people, both past and present, have made great contributions to the field.
