Saint Roch Saints have been depicted to be larger than life since the beginning of Catholicism. Over the past 2,000 years, we have plucked over 10,000 young, virtuous leaders from their average lives to answer to a higher calling. Saint Roch is amongst these men and women who over the years have guided the people of the Catholic Church to God’s word. Saint Roch was born on the southern border of France in 1295. His father acted as the governor of Montpellier while his mother spent her days raising their only son. His parents had always been decent people but made the decision to limit worldly goods and devote themselves to the Lord when they discovered they were expecting. Roch’s mother, Libera,

He is commemorated with a Feast Day on August 16, the day he died, to remember all that he did for the less fortunate. He is often pictured with a cane (one of his only remaining possessions) and a dog by his side, representing the many miracles of God. Unfortunately, there is no real proof or relics around today that can be tied to this exact story of Saint Roch. The only proof that he existed at all is the documentation of his death that said his remains were actually found in Voghera rather than Montpellier. This is disappointing because it goes to show how easily our history can fade. Though the location of his remains is a small detail, it makes me wonder what other details have been misconstrued over the last couple centuries or if this story is even real at all (Voragine), (Begus). It is commonly believed that the story of Saint Roch is actually a fallacy based on the life of Saint Racho of Autun, Burgundy who lived during the 600s. Racho was canonized for protecting the public from ‘the storm’, which could likely refer to an illness similar to the plague. Unfortunately, information regarding Racho is hard to come by and the validity of the story of Saint Roch is questionable. It is possible that the truth is a combination of both testimonies or even neither considering how little is actually known about the history of these saints
Her name was meant to be wiped from existence, but the stake at which she was burned did not damage her heart. Instead, her memory has withstood time and she has grown to be known as one of the most courageous and respectful women in existence. Her leadership shown strikingly through her strong willed ideas. After her divine interaction with St. Michael, St. Catherine and St. Margaret, she continually insisted to the regional governor that he must send her to Charles at Chinon. She insisted it was her divine mandate to take charge of the French army, defeat the English, and aid in the coronation of the king.
On May 30th 1431, she was tried by France's enemies, and was burned at the stake for being a ‘witch’. About 20 years later she was retried in France and declared a saint for saving France under God’s conveyance. Interactions with God are often considered
St. Margaret was canonized a saint in 1250 by Pope Innocent IV in recognition of her “personal holiness, fidelity to the Church, work for religious reform, and charity.” On June 19th, 1250, her remains were taken to a chapel in Dunfermline Abbey where she was buried before the high altar. Today, we celebrate her feast day on November 16th (the day of her death.) She is patron of Scotland and known as “The Pearl of Scotland.” There are hundreds of schools named after St. Margaret that remember her reformation of the church and help to the poor.
My saint is saint cecilia of Rome. Saint cecilia is the patroness of musicians. At her wedding musicians were there playing while she was there singing her heart to the lord. Her feast day is celebrated in the Latin Catholic church, Eastern Catholic church, Anglican church, and Eastern Orthodox churches on November 22. Saint Cecilia's full name is Saint Cecilia of Rome. In the fourth century a Greek romance on the Loves of Cecilia and Valerian was written in glory of virginal life with the purpose of taking the place of back then romances. Until better evidence is produced, we did not know about saint Cecilia until about the time when Pope Gelasius introduced her name into his Sacramentary. They said there was a church dedicated to St. Cecilia
St. Anthony, Patron saint of the poor, people whose lives seem uprooted or misdirected, and finding lost objects, is a good saint that I pray to personally and often.
St. Gregory of Pontus, also known as St. Gregory Thaumaturgus, was the patron Saint of against natural disasters such as: earthquakes, desperate causes, floods, forgotten causes, impossible causes, lost causes. He was born in 213 and died in 270 in Neocaesarea, Pontus. His feast day is November 17. St. Pontus was born into a wealthy pagan family in Neocaesarea where Gregory studied law and the traditional Greek and Roman classics. The name given to him at birth was, Theodore, which means “gift of God.” St. Pontus parents wanted him to be a lawyer, so he and his brother planned to attend law school at Beirut, which is located in Lebanon. Their brother-in-law became an official in the government of Palestine, and before went to law school, they
The patron saint of artists and against temptations, Catherine de' Vigri was venerated for nearly three centuries in her native Bologna before being formally canonized, in 1712. Her feast day is 9 March.
When she was just a girl, she carried a cross that was as big as herself on her back around her whole garden in remembrance of Christ’s painful journey to Calvary. Saint Rose also built a shrine all by herself in order to pray to God and demonstrate her love for him better. Later in her life, when Saint Rose’s mother disapproved of her views, Saint Rose happily continued in her joy of being a servant of God and joyfully explaining her love to her mother. Saint Rose showed her love for God in many ways and was very holy in her love of our Lord.
Catherine of Siena was born in Italy in 1347 at a time when political and religious changes were affecting the hierarchy of the Catholic Church. Dedicating her life to the Holy Spirit from a very young age, Catherine pursued a life of purity and simplicity that served as a background to her great literary work, The Dialogue of the Divine Providence . Her work focuses on the importance of prayer and its transcendent power in human life.

St. Patrick was born around the year 387 A.D. in present day Britain, since at the time the area Britain was controlled by the Romans that area could be considered Roman Britain. His real name, according to Bibliography, was Maewyn Succat, the name Patrick was the name he took after he was ordained. Patrick’s parents were named Conchessa and Calphurnius Succat. Patrick came from a faithful family. His father was a deacon, and his grandfather, Pontius, was a member of the clergy. His mother also happened to be a close relative of the great patron St. Martin of Tours. What’s extremely surprising is that Patrick wasn’t raised with much of an emphasis on religion, and neither was education. His lack of education would later became an embarrassment for him. Patrick was also from a rich family. Durring his teenage years he was kidnapped by Irish raiders, but most people just think of them as pirates. During his imprisonment he became more and more religious, he even began to believe his kidnapping was a punishment for his lack for faith. In his autobiography the Confessio, he wrote he was imprisoned for six years, in the northern part of Ireland working as a shepherd.
Saint Damien of Molokai was a spectacular man although not that many people know of him. He is a more recent saint, which is the reason not that many people know about him. He was born on January third, 1840 in Belgium and died on April fifteenth, 1889. He lived to be only forty-nine years old. One of his brothers became a priest and two of his sisters became nuns. When Saint Damien was only nineteen years old he joined the Society of Sacred Hearts of Jesus and Mary and of Perpetual Adoration of the Most Blessed Sacrament of the altar. In addition to joining the Society of Sacred Hearts of Jesus and Mary and of Perpetual Adoration of the Most Blessed Sacrament of the altar, he also became a priest of the Roman Catholic Church.
During this time people gave up their lives for the Catholic faith. Some of them have been canonized and others have beatified. One saint that was recently canonized on October 16 of last year is Saint Jose Sanchez del Rio. He was fourteen years old when he died. He was caught by the federalists and locked up in a church that was used as a prison. He was tortured and asked to renounce to his faith, but he refused to. The soles of his feet were sliced and he was made to walk on salt. The soldiers were getting so frustrated and angry at him that they started stabbing him. He was also struck with a machete, with every strike that he took he screamed Viva Cristo Rey.
She was born as a peasant girl in 1412 in the small village of Domrémy (insert citation). Her father was a tenant farmer and both her parents were very religious (insert citation). She was not taught to read or write yet she received a deep love and interest for Catholic
Saint Clare was born in Assisi, Italy on July 16, 1194. Her father Favorino Scifi and her mother Ortolana gave her the given name as Chiara Offreduccio. As St. Clare was growing up she was very wealthy and learned to spin yarn, write and read. St. Clare gave to the poor she gave all the leftovers from meals to people who did not have any food and she gave clothes to people Clare started to do this at a young age. She wasn’t really focused on all the fancy things she had because Clare wanted to include herself in poverty. She wanted to turn her life to God but she needed help with that. Francis of Assisi came to her mind she asked her parents if she could leave to go and join him but her parents did not want her to go to Francis of Assisi for help but she left anyways. She went the Porziuncola Chapel to meet Francis she listen to all the homilies and preaching.
