Saint Rose of Lima is the patron saint of beauty due to her remarkable appearance.Rose is an innovation to many, because unlike many people today, she loathed her beauty due to being too alluring. I chose Saint Rose because she didn’t like people being tempted by her or staring at her. Rose only wanted to satisfy her parents and God. I also chose this saint because throughout her early life, she did things people normally would not contemplate or endeavour. Her feast day is on August 23th on the modern calendar, and in some countries it is on August 30th.
Born in Lima, Peru on April 20th, 1586 Rose grew up in a poor household with a family of ten people. Rose grew up in a poor household after Rose’s father lost his job as ,what he is

Rose was devoted to God therefore turning down any suitors who wanted to marry her. Rose tried to turned down suitors by cutting her hair off. Rose believe that if she cut her hair off she would look less appealing to the eyes of suitors. She also was strong-minded about taking a promise of virginity. Rose’s parents then decided, out of aggravation, to give her a room to herself. Even though her parents despised the fact that Rose wanted to receive the Blessed Sacrament, she went through with the decision. Although receiving the Blessed Sacrament daily was rare, Rose managed to acquire it daily. Like her role model, St. Catherine of Siena, Rose fasted for a few days a week before she refrained herself from eating meat and fasting daily. Rose also helped the sick and the hungry by bringing them to her room to feed and nurture the people. Because she was acquiescent and caring, Rose alway commenced ways to make a profit so she could aid her …show more content…

When I was told to choose a saint to be my patron saint for Confirmation, I thought the choice was obvious for me. It took me just a few moments and one quick touch to my neck to remember my patron saint, Saint Sebastian. I have a medal that I wear every time I leave the house with a picture of Saint Sebastian that says “Saint Sebastian Pray For Us.” I was given this medal when I was very young.
13. Virgin of Guadalupe – Is the patron Saint of Mexico that is very well known throughout Catholicism and Spanish cultures. Catholic religion tells the story of how she first appeared to a man by the name of Juan Diego during the 15th century.
I chose St. Margaret as my patron saint because she gave a lot of time and money to the poor. She read the Bible daily, even though people (like her husband) didn’t have the same beliefs as her. She was focused on her faith and encouraged people in her life to live a devout life and grow in prayer and holiness. I admire that she barely slept every night and fasted often in order to spend more time worshipping the Lord. St. Margaret is someone who I will continue to admire even after my
I am choosing St. Anastasia because she made it through tough times with her faith always in God. St. Anastasia was not canonized, she has been declared a saint by the early Christian community based on her life of heroic virtue and her martyrdom. St. Anastasia spent her time caring for the prisoners. She would feed them and care for them if they were ill. The prisoners she cared for were not there for any violent crimes, but were locked up for being Christian. A virtue that I identitfy with St. Anastasia is charity because I help people that are in need and out of the kindness of my heart. St. Anastasia was so self-less about helping other people, even if it meant risking her life. Her father was a pagan and her mother was secretly a
1. Mary Helen MacKillop known as Mary of the Cross was born on 15 January 1842 in Fitzroy, Melbourne. She was declared by Pope Benedict XVI to become Australia's first Saint in 17 October 2010. Mary was canonised at the St. Basilica in Rome. The ceremony was attended by over 8000 pilgrims from Australia and New Zealand. To achieve the towards Sainthood, 2 miracles should be accepted by the Vatican. Mary's first miracle was recognised by the Vatican in 1993. They confirmed that Mary was the cause for the miraculous cure of the woman who suffered from Leukemia in 1961. When the doctors have no hope, the woman gave birth to a boy months later after she prayed for Mary MacKillop's intercession.
Saint Laura of Saint Catherine of Siena, the first Colombian born saint, was canonized by Pope Francis in 2013 (“St. Laura of St. Catherine of Siena”). Having very little memory of her Dad, Laura Montoya y Upegui never had a strong father figure, however she never let this stop her from being who she wanted to be. Laura was an outstanding student, a true preacher of God’s work, and is remembered as a role model for all young girls.
St. Anne, also known as Hannah or Anna, isn’t mentioned in the Bible, so all knowledge of her is from Catholic legend and the unsanctioned, apocryphal Protoevangelium of James. She became a saint because she was the mother of Mary and the grandmother of Jesus. St. Anne is the patron saint of unmarried women, housewives, women in labor, grandmothers, horseback riders, cabinet-makers and miners. Her Feast Day is July 26th. She was canonized pre-congregation.
My love for Saint Joan has developed over the years and after learning knowledge of what this incredible adolescent girl lived through I admire her for her courage, power, strength, loyalty, faithfulness and her ability to lead soldiers into battle. I have grown to admire her ability to endure hardship and misfortune but most of all I admire her undying love, faithfulness and patience to God's Will for her

St Clare of Assisi was born July 16, 1194 Assisi and died August 11, 1253 (aged 59) Assisi. St Clare is an Italian saint and one of the first followers of Saint Francis of Assisi. She founded the Order of Poor Ladies, a monastic religious order for women in the Franciscan tradition, and wrote their Rule of Life, the first set of monastic guidelines known to have been written by a woman. The patron saint I have chosen for my saint project is St. Padre Pio otherwise known as Pio of Pietrelcina. St. Padre Pio was first born in Pietrelcina, Italy on May 25, 1887 and Pietrelcina is a small town in a small country in the southern part of Italy. His dad was named Grazio Mario Forgione and his mom was Maria Guiseppa de Nunzio Forgione. Padre Pio was Baptized right after his birth in a castle that was close to them with the name of his brother who died in early infancy with the name of Francesco. Padre Pio had four siblings with his brother Michele and his three younger sisters; Felicita, Pellegrina, and Grazia. He would of had more siblings but they died as infants. His family and the town of Pietrelcina were revolved around catholicism
Don Bosco gave him some tips to follow and he encouraged Dominic to be consistent in his pray, to always be cheerful and perform his ordinary duties extra ordinary well. His desire for sanctity urged him to practice bodily flagellation and other severe penance. Don Bosco youth to youth formation influenced Dominic in a remarkable way, thus, it fostered his leadership qualities. He also realized that becoming a saint meant, sharing his knowledge and recognizing God in his companions. His constant awareness of his companions earned much respect from his friends and they also appreciated his leadership skills. He made progress in his prayer life and developed a love for the Immaculate Heart of Mary. He influenced his friends to go to the chapel with him to pray the seven sorrows of the Virgin Mary even in harsh weather conditions. His example and love for to virgin Mary assisted his friends to also love her and had great devotion to
The saint and martyr status attributed to these individuals is directly correlated to their ability to stay faithful to their religion even in the face of persecution. It is also stated that Perpetua had a spiritual gift in which she would see visions of the near future.(61-2) This ability to see the near future elevates her status, and raises her above being a mere martyr. When looking at the other end of the spectrum there are individuals such as Saint Balthild who have been canonized because of her ability to be a shining example of a person who follows in the footsteps of God. These individuals are usually extremely humble, and generally do great works of charity. These individuals also tend to be very zealous about spreading the word of God, and if they have enough money they will build houses of worship. Saint Balthild is fortunate enough to meet all of these characteristics because she is the generous wife of a king and has the means to do so.
Saints are always different from everyday people, thus no one understands them in their lives, only a lot of years after their death. Joan of Arc was a saint like this as well, she was too far ahead of her times and was killed by her fellow men, because they didn’t know what else to do. She was canonized in 1920, after 489 years of her death. In my opinion, she was not only a saint, but meant to be an angel and showed a good example to all of us, how to behave ourselves in the name of honour, honesty, and glory.
Clare as my patron saint because of her unconditional love for God. Her friends hated this work she was doing for God and her parents tried in every way to make her return home, but Clare would not. Soon her fifteen-year-old sister Agnes also joined her. Before long there was a small religious community. No matter what others thought of her work she still continued on, that is really what I strive for in my faith. Another reason why I chose St. Clare is that she never let anything get her down because she was always doing what she loved. St. Clare was sick for twenty-nine years before she died on August 11, 1253. But she was always joyful because she was serving the Lord. Some people worried that the nuns were suffering because they were so poor. "They say that we are too poor, but how can a heart which holds the infinite God be
