The movie Stand by Me is a flashback and takes place in a little town called Castlerock, Oregon with four teen boys not quite the age of 13; Gordie, Chris, Teddy, and Vern. They all are suffering with some issues of their own, and after learning that a boy was hit by a train and had been missing for a few days the boys set out on a journey to discover the body. When they find it they are met with a group of troublesome boys a little older, which causes some dispute. Along the way they are faced with challenges and are put in risky situations in which they learn about themselves and create a memory they will never forget. In Stand by Me it is demonstrated many times when the boys are discussing their difficulties. They all are suffering with their own problems and insecurities and the boys are all there for support, they were very personal when sharing and felt comfortable telling one another their troubles knowing they all had each others backs no matter what. In The Perks of Being a Wallflower Charlie is so lonely and depressed after his one and only friend commits suicide but then he meets Patrick and Sam and he starts going to events and parties and that’s when he doesn't feel as alone anymore. “And in that moment, I swear we were infinite.” (Chbosky 39) Charlie says this when he is hanging out with Sam and Patrick driving through a bridge and playing there favorite music out loud, he felt good inside everything from the outside world had escaped him and he was just there with his friends. Charlie is overall a good friend who always finds the best in people and his friends helped him to come out of a very dark place in his life. It’s a friendship that could never be broken apart. One was always there for the other when they were down. They each kept each other's secrets, and whenever someone was in their low, they would always be there to help pick them up. As a young adult friends are so important, you need someone who will be there for you to make you laugh, help you when you want to cry, and to just have fun
