If you are not standing up for what you is right, you are standing for what is wrong by being quiet about it. We have gone too far to go back now. We have worked too hard to lose any more lives, to lose any more brothers and sisters of any race, gender, and religion.
It is not in our nature to be born of hate or discrimination, that is a learned behavior from other before them. Others that are supposed to be a role model. I will not back down, I will fight this with love and support and I will help others. Our kids will learn to respect and understand others, and others will learn and respect their ways.
They are our brothers and sisters, and we will treat, love, and listen to them as they are our
It angers me so much that other human beings are treated like this every single day. It makes sense to treat others equally with respect when were all born in the same way. What do you gain when you're mistreating others because of that one reason? You get nothing, there's no point in doing that to another human being, there just isn't. It's just something I strongly oppose to since I've had me, and my own mother experience that. Despite me going through racism it was nothing compared to what my mom went through. For most of her whole life, she would always get nasty glares at other people from when she was working. Her own boss made her hourly wage payment significantly lower just because of her “color”. Also, she would get disrespected, and made fun of because she didn't know English, and I had to translate everything to her. To top that all off, at one point it made her want to give up and just lose everything, but thankfully she didn't. To end racism our colors in the world must join as one. When we have won, we’ll no longer suffer. And our world can finally have peace as one. It doesn't cost a penny to show some sort of acceptance, and kindness to everyone every single
From an early age, my father taught me to stand up for what I believed in. He always told me to never back down from a fight. It was for that reason that he joined the revolutionary effort. He never agreed with the King of Great Britain and all of his abuses against us, the colonists. It was because of people like my father that this beautiful nation was built. It is also the reason why I get so angry to see injustices and misuses of power by those who lead our nation that represents freedom. How can we trust the leaders of this free nation when they are abusing their power? Fortunately for all of us, there is a way to curb the power of these “leaders” and the Supreme Court proved it with
‘’You can not be afraid to speak up or speak out for what you believe.’’
Resolutions to injustice requires the actions of good people, contributing by not only talking the talk, but walking the talk. The Holocaust during World War II was indicative of what can happen when good people choose not to get involved; ergo, an ethnic group was nearly exterminated as a result of non-interference. The Americans in 1775 fought a war because a tyrannical king did not agree with their most basic human rights; ergo, “Americans of the twenty-first century should not squander the heritage of constitutional liberty bequeathed by the
This is what helps to keep it a democratic republic instead of a dictatorship. By taking a stand on issues that matter, individuals are defending their rights and preserving what made this country great in the beginning. Look at Christ's disciples, for example. Some were stoned to death; others were beheaded. They were burned at the stake in His name. One was even crucified upside-down because he refused to be killed in the same manner as his Lord. These men did nothing wrong but proclaim the Word of God and the falsehoods in the Roman church. But because they decided to take a stand, the truths of God are alive today.
being exposed to this hate and it can ruin their future. So, what can we do in order to stop this?
What has become known as “Stand Your Ground” laws were first introduced in Florida in 2005 after much lobbying by the NRA. These laws expand castle doctrine laws, which allow people to use lethal force to protect their homes or “castles,” to include the legal use of deadly force in public even if safely retreating is a possibility in a threatening situation. Since 2005, similar laws, though all in varying degrees, have been put into effect in 21 other states (Lopez, “What ‘Stand Your Ground’ Laws Actually Do). While many argue that these laws make society safer and protect individuals in hostile situations, the majority of studies done prove otherwise. One study found that in states that passed these laws, there was a 53% increase in justifiable
Imagine being in a time where people had slaves, and you have to give up your seat to a white person on a bus, knowing if you didn't you would get punnised siverly.Back then when people had slaves it was very hard for them, and the world was full of disagreement, but in those hard times a few people were brave enough to stand out and stand up for thier
Throughout my life I have known many Hispanics who have been told racist or discriminatory comments. To me, those people are strong because they must be able to keep their composure and ignore those horrible people. I had my own experience in which someone made a rude comment towards my mom. I was about eleven or twelve years-old. I was in the store with my mom ready to pay our stuff. The cashier started asking my mom if she wanted to apply for a credit card, but my mom didn’t speak english. I started translating for her, but I was struggling a bit. I realized that we were taking a long time and holding up the line. Suddenly there was this lady behind us was getting frustrated. The lady made the typical comment, “this is America, learn how to speak english”. That was probably the first time I have heard anyone say something like that. Naturally I got angry, and I told my mom. My mom seemed to not be bothered by the comment. I was shocked and confused because my mom never lets things of that kind go. Once we got to the car, I asked her why she didn’t say anything. She replied with, “ I have heard so many people say that before, but we must keep living our lives because what doesn’t kill you makes you stronger”. After that day I learned one of the most valuable lessons of my life. I learned that you shouldn’t be bothered by rude comments from others. All that matters is how you perceive yourself because at the end of the day you only have yourself. You must stay strong and keep fighting for your purpose and not allow other from distracting
Standing up for what you believe in is what you believe in and not what others tell you to believe in.Like a religious faith or the Holidays gift bringers like the Tooth Fairy, Easter Bunny, and Santa Claus. It is what you believe in you should stay with unless you change your mind about what you want for your life.
I am indirectly untouched by these hate crimes, and I can not say that I slightly understand what any of this is like. It breaks my heart to imagine the reality that many of my friends and loved ones face. Please take this as my official stand against the hatred being spread. I refuse to use my place in this world as a platform for hurt. I will not be responsible for someone else’s pain. If someone does something you do not agree with, please don’t use it as an invitation to throw your ignorance towards them. If you have children, choose the words you use carefully. By not doing so you are reproducing hate, and that is something the world needs less of. Please stop sharing your anger filled ideas with others. Standing up for what you believe in does not matter as much as someone’s life. People are literally killing themselves everyday because they feel unlovable. Knowing that makes me nauseous.I am not writing this to get a dramatic response from others. I am not trying to force my opinions on anyone. I do not want to have a heated discussion about who is right and who is wrong. For those who find my post offensive, I apologize. I do not apologize for my words, but for whatever brought you to this place of bitterness. That
Luckily in a democracy the people have the ability to peacefully protest against something they think is wrong: key word is peacefully. Rosa Parks refusing to give up her seat hasn’t been the only person to take a stand in a positive way. For example, Martin Luther King Jr. was able to also take a stand in a proactive way with the Civil Rights Movement. Malcolm X, however, broke laws and went about taking a stand in a completely re-active way. All three are remembered for being Civil Rights Leaders, but Malcolm is remembered for being a negative contributor. People that want to make a difference but go about it in a negative way are contradicting themselves. The most powerful people are those that lead by example, not those that riot and talk bad about the government. They actually destroy America while saying the actions of others will. Ironically, they wouldn’t even be allowed to voice their opinion about the government if it wasn’t for the fact that we have a
If you asked for advice from people, most would say, "just put your head down and blend into the crowd." But where would we be today if great thinkers like Thomas Edison just "blended in"? To be frank, America would be quite unlightened. Society brainwashes anyone into thinking or saying what society wants people to say or think. No matter what though, sticking up for what you believe in should always be important to everyone. Standing out of the crowd to make a point for what you believe in is always the right thing to do even if it seems wrong.
Just stand up for each other is our school theme this trimester and we have said it over and over every day for the last couple months but saying it and doing it are two completely different actions. Standing up for others is something that we definitely need to see more of in our world today, so I have decided to share a time where I stood up for a group of people. The topic of men being equal to women has been discussed for decades and even though today women are allowed to do pretty much anything a man can we still have to face the fact that women have to work twice as hard as men do to be successful in today's world. Woman who believe that they should be equal to men in all things are usually called feminists. However, recently some of
Henceforth it says to treat everyone with love and the way we expect others to treat us.
