The Titanic was the biggest ship then but it went down faster than anyone would have expected. One iceberg took this humongous ship down on April 15, 1912. This shipwreck is known as one of the worst things to happen in history. The Titanic held many people, but could not save as many that were on the ship. Who is to blame? Now with the evidence provided below we know who is guilty for this horrible travesty of 1,500 death. It is Stanley Lord. He is guilty because he ignored signals for help, he broke the law by not going to help, and he could see the signals and decided to ignore them and lie about if he saw it or not.
For one thing, Lord ignored the signals for help when he could have went to the wreck to help save people. The text states,

The text states, "...failed to respond in accordance with the dictates of humanity, international usage and the requirements of laws.'" The text also states, “...the Californian must have seen the the distress rockets fired from the bridge of the Titanic.” This demonstrates that him not going to the crash sight he is breaking the law. If Stanley Lord would have obeyed the law, he could have saved many lives and not been committing a crime.
Above all, Stanley Lord could see the signals just didn't respond and denies ever seeing them, but it was late so even if he was far away he could have seen it. The text states, “... that the Titanic’s lights were visible to the Californian before she struck the iceberg, and that the Californian must have seen the distress rockets fired from the bridge of the Titanic.” The text also states, “‘We told them we were surrounded by ice.” This proves that he would have had to see the signals and there is no excuse for him to not come and help because he said he saw the signals but then gave an excuse for why he could come and then later says that he didn’t see the signals. He is trying to find a million excuses and contradicts what he lied about
Based on the evidence, Walter Sobchak should be charged under New York Penal Law 125.25, which is murder in the second degree. Upon seeing is wife Meara Ramos, in bed with James P. Sullivan, Sobchak makes the conscious decision to pick up his firearm, a deadly weapon and shoot it at Sullivan which reveals his intent to cause the death of another person. Unfortunately, the bullet ultimately travels outside, hitting and killing Edward Vedder; an innocent bystander. In his attempt to murder Sullivan; Sobchak, causes the death of a third person. By picking up the gun and firing it, Sobchak recklessly engages in conduct which creates a grave risk of death to another person, and although it does not harm Sullivan, the intended victim it does cause the death of another person. Under these circumstances Sobchak, is wholly responsible for the death of Vedder and liable under 125.25.
The prosecution’s case relies on proving that Blyton was not acting in self-defence and that he made a conscious decision to kill his father. This argument is supported partially by the fact that when Blyton was rushed, Livingstone no longer had possession of the knife that made his initial assault threatening. Furthermore, Blyton gave 6 other versions of the event to various people which do not mention that he was acting in
I think a Natural Law School follower would have found the men not guilty of murder. Again this is based upon the reading, back story,
Robert Ballard states, “But water was pouring into the first five compartments. And when the water filled the,, it would spill over into the next compartment.” However, Captain Smith was a long-time sailor and was very good at what he did and should have been able to handle the Titanic's flaws. Robert Ballard also states, “Most important, after thirty-eight years’ service with the White Star Line, he had an excellent safety record. At the age of fifty-nine, Captain Smith was going to retire after this last trip, a perfect final tribute to a long successful career.”
On April 14th, 1912, the Titanic set sail and crashed into an iceberg. About 705 passengers were rescued but 1500 died that night by freezing in the waters or sinking with the ship.
On April 14, 1912 what was known as one of the safest ships, the titanic, sank.
The majority, in reaching its decision, endeavoured to define the principles of manslaughter such that the moral culpability of the accused would be commensurate to their legal responsibility. The majority looked to the nature of manslaughter in English law, where the test to determine the existence of manslaughter was, “the unlawful act must be such as all sober and reasonable people would inevitably recognise must subject the other person to, at least, the risk of some harm resulting therefrom, albeit not serious harm.” However, the majority rejected this view because it did not arise from a case where harm was inflicted intentionally, and because it seemed to ascribe an incommensurate level of criminal liability
The Titanic was known as the “unsinkable” ship, yet it was taken down by an iceberg while it was carrying 2,208 passengers and crew. The ship took a year to design and two years to build, and the launch of the massive ship was a heavily publicized spectacle whose profits went to a local children’s hospital. Stanley Lord is at fault for more than 1,500 lives lost on April 15, 1912, at 2:20 am. Lord thought the flair signals were “company rockets”, he broke the law while he was captain of the S.S. Californian, and he lied about where the S.S. Californian was when the Titanic sank. Stanley Lord broke the law while he was captain of the S.S. Californian.
The White Star Line was owner of the Titanic, which was the largest and most luxurious ship in the world at the time. On April 10th, 1912, the Titanic left from Southampton, England with 2,227 passengers aboard bound for New York City. On April 14th, the ship struck an iceberg off the coast of Newfoundland and sank about 2 ½ hours later. Passengers, mostly women and children, were loaded into lifeboats, however only 705 passengers survived as many lifeboats left partially full.
In the text it said " No general alarm was sounded, no whistle blown and no systematic warning was given to the endangered passenger, and it was fifteen or twenty minutes after the collision before Captain Smith ordered the Titanic wireless operator to send out a distress message." In the text it states “The Titanic was only meagerly acquainted with its positions and duties in case of accident, and only one drill was held before the maiden trip.” That proves that everything was true also why it support my reason is because of the Titanic and many
The Titanic is the most fabulous ship of its time. The Titanic is one of the most famous sea disasters of all time. The reason the Titanic is so important because 1500 people died. I believe that captain smith is responsible for the sinking of the Titanic because he was responsible for everyone on the ship and he ignored many iceberg warnings. I think that captain smith is responsible because he ignored the iceberg warnings even though he had people watching for icebergs.
The test for factual (‘but for’) causation requires a jury to consider whether, but for the defendant’s unlawful actions, the harm would have occurred at the same time and in the same way that it did[7]. The requirement for legal causation is that the act was an operating and substantial cause of the result. It is important to note that there may be several different operating and substantial causes of the result, so more than one person can be responsible for the result[8]. Legal causation must be established in order to fulfill one of the requirements of the actus reus of murder. Beyond this, the defendant’s actions would also have to be unlawful, directed towards a living person, and occur in the Queen’s
In the early morning of April 15, 1912, the unthinkable happened. After hitting an iceberg, the RMS Titanic, which was thought to be unsinkable, sank to the bottom of the North Atlantic in over 12,000 feet of water. Of the 2,200 passenger and crew on board the ship, over 1,500 lost their lives. At the time of her maiden voyage, she was considered to be the largest ship afloat in the world.
The RMS Titanic; A Tragedy Based on Class. In April, 1912, the so called "unsinkable" Titanic set sail to New York. The great ship was as big as five city blocks, and weighed thousands and thousands of tons. Everyone who was everyone grabbed a room on the luxurious ship for the trip of a lifetime.
