Start Foreign Language Early The United States is becoming more and more bilingual every day. It is important for students of the United States of America to keep up with the advancing world. The easiest way to learn a second language is when a person is young. This is why it would be beneficial for schools to start teaching a foreign language in kindergarten and continuing it through twelfth grade. Students are more likely to learn and remember a foreign language if they are introduced to it at a young age. A majority of other countries teach foreign languages to their students throughout their school lives. Most students coming out of high school in other countries are totally bilingual. It is important for American students to keep up with the advancing world. The benefits of starting to learn a foreign language at a young age and continuing to take it all through school are plentiful.
One of the best times to learn a foreign language is when a person is young. At age four, the human brain’s cortex beings to function at adult levels. Brain activity revolves around the burning of glucose. The brain continues to burn glucose at this feverish pace until the age of ten. By the age of sixteen, the brain is leveled off to adult levels (Nadia 1).
