Speech Analysis

The president is speaking to all American citizen, to his staff and to all political allies and opposition. On the research I did the state of the union speech was known as the Annual Message until 1934 when President George Washington started giving it as a speech on his first term as President of the United States.
Obama open his speech talking about how hard has been for many Americans in the first 15 years of this century. He caught my attention, when he started mentioning all the improvement in our nation economic, how the unemployment rate is lower, more kids are graduating then years before. I think this was impactful because it give a message to all the American who worked

Recognizing it hasn’t been easy, but now he sort of bring hope to all his listener when he explain all the improvement in our economics, jobs and education. In this world there has been lot of changes in technology, medicine and education system and it seem to look that we all have adapt to them even on how we socialize this day has completely change. But when we talk about politics and religion these are topic people are afraid to change. Not everyone, but I in my perspective people sees these two as part of their culture or something they receive from their families and if they change or differ from their families opinion they are being disloyal. I believe that the change start with us individually. This speech for me is very powerful and I admit I’m not a big fan of politics but by hearing his speech there has been good improvement and changes in our nation. When he said: ”America, for all that we have endured; for all the grit and hard work required to come back; for all the tasks that lie ahead, know this: The shadow of crisis has passed, and the State of the Union is strong.” …show more content…
“And yet, we still live in a country where too many bright, striving Americans are priced out of the education they need. It’s not fair to them, and it’s sure not smart for our future” (Obama). In my opinion, in this country where a lot of people come to live the “American Dream” there are so many benefits for the low income families, where we can receive food stamp, WIC, financial aid, free health insurance, free child care etc. When I was listening to this speech, all I could think of the massive amount of people that could enjoy college through financial aid and at least cover their first years in school, but don’t do it. Many of them because they are afraid to lose their “benefits” and get out of their comfort zone. One of the change I would do to this system is to give privilege to those who really wants to succeed. Education should not cost nothing to the parent of a child who wants to have a career, at the end that child will be contributing to our society and our nation would benefit from the knowledge of that person. There should be a balance on where the benefits go. There are middle class family that can benefit from some of these. In my opinion not all the benefits should go to the “low-income families” like he said: “When what you’re
Criticising others takes a great deal of courage, especially when this criticism could reflect upon one’s own work. However, in the introduction of her speech to the Women’s National Press Club, Clare Booth Luce utilizes changes in tone, humor, while appealing to ethos, and pathos to prepare her audience for the impending criticism.
The speech “I have a dream” changed to world. It affected millions of American citizens. All of this was because his well written speech. This shows how important it is to put some tough into the speech instead of
The amount of knowledge and powerful words that can actually get to one’s head is amazing. Michelle Obama was the First Lady for 8 years and stood by former President Barack Obamas side. She is a great example of what today’s kids should look up to. A woman with dedication to her word. A woman with dedication to what she believes. It is pretty easy to say that she has become an impressive public speaker who can deliver a powerful speech to her supporters. In her speech at the DNC in 2016, Michelle Obama did not fill her supporter’s heads with politics and facts, but a great use of personal experience, feelings and connections. Her love for this country and her love for her family is one thing that brought her audience together. In fact, if it wasn’t the great use of ethos, pathos and logos Michelle Obamas speech would have probably just been like any other political speech.
Waking up on the long-awaited morning of November 9th 2016, the majority of America made their morning coffee and clicked on the TV anticipating headlines to read; “Hillary Clinton to be the first female President,” but instead, saw the quite the contrary. When Donald Trump was announced to be the President of the United States, half of the country felt their stomach’s drop. Left with her supporters in mental turmoil, it was Hillary Clinton’s job to address the thousands of followers and ease their worries. In her concession speech, through the use of personal narratives, emotional realities, and inclusive word choice, Clinton was able to deliver a speech that gave the audience a lasting impression of hope for the future of the United States.
First looking at President Bush’s speech, the overall situation being shared throughout this piece of work is that the incident of 9/11 was a devastating tragedy and we should always remember it as a reason for why we should continue to stay strong and surpass the limit. Although Bush never did say all this, but he reflected the idea in we should never feel at complete sorrow whenever we remember this incident, but instead, feel the need to improve and advance to prevent this act of terrorism. It is never a wise choice to sorrow over a problem and leave it untouched. Ever since the incident of 9/11, the United States of America has excelled and advanced ever since in order to prevent future terror-influenced acts.
The most interesting parts of Obama’s speech, to me, were the clarifications on his educational policies. His plans for higher education, such as halting student loan payments after 20 years or 10 years for public servants, seemed pretty cool to me. I’m not sure if taking government money to be used for student loans and giving it to parents while simultaneously stopping loan payments after 20 years is such a good idea. Pissing off the entire banking system might not be such a good idea in the long run. Grunts will be fired before CEOs cut their own bonuses, and I really don’t feel like that is particularly conducive to a good financial system.
“It was a very powerful speech,” Bohner said. “He took a very broad stance on a lot of issues but knows that we can stand together and make a change.”
He talked about many different things during this speech. The things most remembered or classified as the most important was jobs, racism and freedom. This is the most important speech ever in United States history. Because the way it made the people open their eyes and really believe and act on what he is talking about. He used many details and examples to exclaim that he is right and that every person should have an opportunity to shine and to show that they are just like everyone else and color of skin should not matter. Everyone was so impressed and happy with the way he used his words with confidence yet also was straight to the point. After this speech affected many lives and ways people lives, more adventurous. By just one speech would have affected the history of those individual speeches so much and have an effect on not just him but on everyone around him and for the history of the United
In his State of the Union Address for 2016, Barack Obama uses logical and ethical arguments to emphasize shared ground rather than partisan disputes. He also taps into the audience’s desire to feel better about themselves and their country. By using humor and irony, Obama paints his opponents into corners, out of which it would require outrageous extremism to effectively squirm away. At its best, this approach demonstrates how much Americans actually have in common in a culture dominated by ideologically polarized cable-news channels, Facebook, and cultural tribes that increasingly live and socialize apart from one another. The president's technique throughout the speech is to frame issues through a rhetorical jujitsu to persuade his opponents,
The State of the Union is an address on the conditions of the country (hence the name) delivered annually by the president. However, it was called the “Annual Message” when George Washington gave the first one in 1790. Eleven years later, the Annual Message became a letter to a joint session of Congress instead of a speech. But in 1913, it was changed back to a speech by President Woodrow Wilson. The name “Annual Message” was changed to “State of the Union Address” in 1947 and in the same year, it was revolutionized by Harry Truman because the speech of 1947 was the first televised one, which means that it was also the first time that the speech became an address to the general public. On January 12, 2016 in Washington D.C., President Barack Obama delivered his final State of the Union Address.
He is ever the inspiring leader, presenting how he helped the parties and reached across the isles to achieve funding that was previously cut by Congress to education. He talked about how the First Lady's "Let's Move!" campaign helped lower childhood obesity for the first time in 30 years. He presented how he is helping veterans, while an image of the famous speech quote "Give me your tired, your hungry, your poor" was posted for the nations viewing. All these were meant to let the viewers come to see him as representative of the same greatness.
In his Inaugural Address you can tell that he knows what the people need to hear and what will ease the minds of the generation. He realizes the impact that the short yet pervasive speech will have on American lives. The main purpose of his address is to give America a sense of strength, a sense of security, and most importantly to inspire a sense of personality responsibility for the country . He inspired a generation to be less self-centered and do more and get more involved with their country.
John F. Kennedy gave the best inauguration speech in history. One reason why he gave the best inaugural address was because he wanted peace with other countries and he didn’t want for them to be fighting over certain things. Another reason why he gave the best inauguration speech was because he wanted everyone to have freedom in what they did or what they wanted to do. Also because he didn’t want others telling someone what they had to do or what or what not to do. With him saying that he wanted everyone to have their freedom and have peace with other countries a lot of people began to support on what his thoughts were of others countries with this one, and also they liked him because they wanted him to help them to gain their freedom.
George W. Bush speech shows that after the terrible attack on 9/11 we will stand for our country and become stronger. Another point will be how the attack just hit the two towers but won’t get to us. Peter’s
State of the Union was the most important speech in January from President Barack Obama. I liked the speech because it was very interesting to hear about the president talking about everyday Americans and what he believes about America being better. He spoke about different kinds of things like economics and what America is like today. I never liked listening to boring speeches on television, but when my mom turned the channel to the president, I was very engaged. He speaks to children, teens, and adults. He speaks to everyone.
