In 2015 I Graduated from Edge Hill University, studying BA (Hons) in Physical Education and School Sport. It was my ambition to go on and work with Children and Young people in detached areas, working with them to create a solid foundation that will hold them in good stead for there future.
I have always been passionate for teaching through my own personal development, experiences and chances that my teachers and tutors have given me. After completing my degree, I went to Northern Ireland and East Belfast to complete a Internship at a community association where I gained the importance of schools in deprived areas giving every opportunity and a chance to shine to all children from all areas and backgrounds. This was an experience that has stayed with me seeing the delight and enjoyment children have to be at school, which has led me to this point to apply and help create a basis for childrens education, resulting in there future.
Whilst in Blefast on the internship I helped facilitate and deliver many programmes for children of the age 5-11. One programme was After Schools club where children have the opportunity to get help with their homework, also giving children the opportunity to play games with their peers outside of school in a safe, fun, inclusive environment. The other programme was also for 5-11 year olds, called Life Guards a Healthy Hearts initiative, which aims to tackle mental health and obesity two massive problems that face children. Taking a holistic approach teaching children how emotional and physical health are connected.
Leaving Belfast and moving back to Lancashire in summer of 2016 I went in to part time, teaching assistant at a school in Lancaster working as Sports Play Teaching Assistant, funded through the PE Primary Sport Premium which funding has been renewed for this Academic year and next. However unfortunately my contract wasn’t renewed due to funding uncertainty, has given me the confidence to discern and start the process of going into teaching.
During my time as a Teaching Assistant I experienced the highlight that working in a school environment brings and children’s experiences they bring with them to school, from what they have been up to at home and in school. I have
As an undergraduate student at the University of New Mexico I have become increasingly aware of the complex network problems that I face as a citizen of the world. I have also realized the progress and success that I enjoy in the same capacity as the frontiers of medicine, technology and communication continue to expand. My desire to participate in the resolution of those problems and in the further expansion of those frontiers had inspired me to seek a degree in biology and entrance into a School of Dentistry. I intend to successfully complete program of dentistry and further my specialization in the area of endodontics. Upon completion of my
Working with children and supporting their learning is my passion. I have always been inspired by the opportunity teaching offers each child to reach their full potential; which understandably plays a crucial part in children achieving lifelong learning.
Education has played a major role in my life. Growing up I was fortunate enough to have been taught and guided by some truly inspirational teachers, and I appreciate the effect they have had on my life and the choices I made subsequently. My passion for working with students extends from my desire to emulate these role models and inspire others the way I was. This passion for being an educator/mentor has resulted in me having gained a lot of experience in education that will help me in this role as a UW Academy TA.
Looking back at the experience I had in observing, I still have the determination to inspire others through a career in teaching. Teaching is a very diverse job that requires many skills and a lot of patience. It is important for a teacher to be able to maintain a healthy and professional relationship with their pupils, develop lesson plans that keep the attention of a majority of the students, make the atmosphere of the classroom inviting, and be a welcoming person capable of standing up in front of the class to
I have a passion for education and believe that teaching children at a primary level is extremely rewarding as it is the initial step in transforming the lives of young people to prepare them for high school, university and careers. I am looking forward to developing my knowledge of the curriculum and expanding my skills in the
The mission of high quality elementary education is to help children develop and mature into successful and highly functioning learners by teaching the basics of education, healthy learning habits, and skills needed for everyday life; including social, mental, and physical knowledge. School should help students in all aspects of their lives. The mission along with being for the whole classroom, is for each individual and should adapt to their needs and learning level they are at. I used to be a math tutor, and each individual was at a different level with the material and comprehension. Each person has their own speed for learning and understanding. Also, not only do students need to be taught academic skills and knowledge, they also need to
I am a great teacher and am passionate about achieving my goals. I have several years of teaching experience and my enthusiasm for teaching children has only grown.
I first became interested in teaching in my sophomore year in high school. My inspiration came from three amazing teachers who showed passion for their subject matter as well as a love for teaching. My desire to become a teacher was amplified by the many leadership and teaching roles that I took on while I was in Boy Scouts. While teaching in Boy Scouts I learned that teaching was what mattered most to me. Under my leadership, I helped advance many scouts to the rank of Eagle Scout as well as winning multiple awards at every summer camp that we attended. This was my jumping point into enrolling in Old Dominion University’s education program.
In my second placement, I progressed quite rapidly and therefore, I was graded as an outstanding trainee teacher across every standard. I feel this learning curve of development has shown how I am able to reflect and act on feedback in order to progress to be the best possible teacher. On my last placement at St. Bede’s RC Primary School in Bedlington, my mentor commented on my final grading report that I had been ‘a confident student and a pleasure to work with’ and that I ‘played a key part in the life of the school’ by fully engaging with the school life, extra-curricular activities and by building good relationships with the staff. During my placements I have had the ability to show progression and adapt my teaching quite frequently. I was able to notice where interventions were needed, particularly regarding year 6 and their place value knowledge, alongside understanding individual needs, in order to progress the children consistently.
My decision to be a teacher did not come easily to me. This choice was dependent on a reflection about what I was passionate about and how I could make a difference. I have chosen to become a teacher, as I believe teachers have the ability to provide future generations the stimulation for one of the most significant roles in life; to become a lifelong learner. Many teachers that I have had during my education have had a positive impact on my decision to grow and develop the skills that are fundamental to pursue a successful teaching career. My aim is to be a part of an honorable profession with the optimism that one day I will become an efficacious teacher who can provide future teachers with inspiration, as my teachers have provided for me. Through personal educational experiences and peer-reviewed academic literature, I am able to shape my approach to my pre-service teaching, as it will influence my future practice. As a teacher, there is not just one singular approach to educating students; there is a need for flexibility, diversity, adaptation and reflection.
Comprehensive experience as a casual teacher in a diverse range of schools and areas, which
My passion for teaching started at a very young age. My mother is a first grade teacher and gave me my first exposure to teaching. Any time anyone asked me what I was going to be when I grew up I always said I would be a teacher. Once I started attending El Camino College, I was a tutor at my elementary school, which is where my mother teaches. My first hands on experience
Throughout my journey to become a teacher, it has been my past experiences that have kept me motivated toward reaching my career goal of becoming a teacher. My first experience working exclusively with children was senior year where I volunteered at a local elementary school every day third period.
There were many stories from school practitioners who supported this partnership approach to working with children’s services. One deputy head teacher, cited in the Common Assessment Framework (CAF) for practitioners, illustrates this point. She cites the case of a boy whose behaviour gave no cause for concern at her school, though suddenly his academic achievement began to decline.
Ever since I was a child, I looked up to all my teachers and was passionate about reading, writing, and teaching my peers. This has made me want to pursue a career as a teacher. I have always wanted to contribute back to my community and make a positive difference for the future of children. Teaching will allow me to motivate students, as well as become a mentor, which will enable me to enhance my communication and leadership skills. Being a goal oriented individual, I would be suitable to train children in required subjects with care and concern. Continually, I want to make a difference in the lives of as many students as I can, such as a child struggling with low self-esteem and/or problems at home. Becoming a teacher will allow me to inspire and help kids realise their true potential. Many of the teachers that I have had throughout my education have become my role models, allowing me to have a positive outlook on life and realise that nothing is impossible if we try hard enough. This has made me want to follow in their footsteps to become an educator.
