I took the first steps towards my future and attended Career Online High school through my local library. This step will allow me to earn my high school diploma along with training skills as per the requirements to earn my Child Development Associate (CDA). While completing the CDA prerequisites courses, I was instructed to research the remaining list of requirements. Using the Internet as my main databank, I was able to access the information on several websites (which I have included the list below). According to the CDA Council, Florida Department of Children & Families, The Care courses School Inc., and the Seattle Pi-Press (that has a dedicated linked web page to the Florida state CDA requirements), there are five steps to apply for the CDA. There are still a few steps left before obtaining the certificate. I will need to have my High school diploma, my prerequisite Child Care Semester 1 (forty-one courses), the Child Care Semester 2 (fifty-three courses), 120 hours of classroom instruction and 480 hours of work experience in the childcare setting with the specified age group as listed on the CDA …show more content…

Director: The position of director is responsible for operations within the childcare center, to include acquiescence with regulations and communication with the department. As a director, he or she is to remain on the premises during all hours of operation and will be unable to accept any other form of employment that may interfere with stipulated duties. In order to become a director for a childcare center, an individual must meet several prerequisites before employment. These prerequisites include: background check, finger print clearance, health screening report with TB test, high school graduation or GED and 15 semester units at an accredited college in specified early childhood education classes. Three of the required units are to be in administration or staff relations, the remaining 12 units are to be in areas specific to child growth and development; child, family and community. Among these educational requirements, the individual must have completed four years of teaching experience, in a licensed center or an equivalent childcare program. However, two years are only required if the director has an AA degree in the area of child development or a child development program director permit, which must be issued by the California Commission on Teacher Credentialing.

Licensing is usually necessary, in accordance to the state mandating the specific requirements. An additional credential that is commonly required is Child Development Associate (CDA) certification. For this assignment, I will outline the pros and cons of two high school career websites. The two schools that I chose were Nansemond River High School and Kings Fork High School which both are located in Suffolk, Virginia. Through my Career Ed project I learned how to live a sustainable life with a typical paycheck I would receive. I chose the job of a psychiatrist based on my interests and ambitions. My whole life I have studied human behavior and analyzed why people act a certain way. I also like to help others and I want to give people the best lives that they can live. Being a psychiatrist would make me happy because I could learn more about human minds and the way they work by also helping people who are mentally and emotionally suffering. I had to make hard decisions on which car and house to buy. Firstly, I chose to buy a large family home which cost $199,900 because I thought it was a reasonable price for a home with four bedrooms and two bathrooms. The house also has a warm and happy exterior which is very important to me. I know that if I have a family someday they would enjoy living in our house too. The car I bought was a New 2017 Dodge Grand Caravan SE. I bought this car because not only because it was a nice price of $21,879, but because it’s a big and safe minivan
My plans for next year while remaining at Corliss Early STEM High school is to pass all my classes and keep my GPA over a 3.8 average. I want to avoid all drama and stay away from students involved in too much mess. I was planning on transferring next school year because I don’t like the vibe that comes from the staff and some of the students. I changed my mind though, because people tend to work with other they dislike which shouldn’t stop you from completing a task. Things that led to me making this decision is my favorite teachers and friends. I have a personal bond and connection with some of the staff. My friends inspires me to strive and reach my goals.

According to DHHS(2009)The CDA is a credential that is equal to 12 semester college credits of professional education. The CDA is based on several training hours, observing in the classrooms and testing in order to receive certification.
