At Augustana, I will be able to adjust to college

When I decided to become an engineer, I thought hard on what that entailed. I saw myself working on hands on projects with a skill and proficiency that I could truly be proud of. That's why after listening to the presentation for Manufacturing and Mechanical Engineering Technology in my freshman year here at Texas A&M I knew that this major was the best fit for me. The mentioning of learning how to manufacture and produce things from conception to finished product was very exciting to me. I also appreciate that the education is very application oriented rather than just teaching theoretical content. I feel that this directly prepares one for a future career in industry and this sense of job security is what really attracted me to this engineering

Education never interested me. My parents weren't bothered if I wasn't into school. As long I got a "C or D" I was safe. It wasn't till I got accepted into the ACE program at Gateway Community College that I started to value my education. This program allowed me to attend Community College while in high school. I grew strict towards my education meaning I no longer just aimed to pass. As I changed my attitude towards my education my parents did the same thing. They no longer tolerated "C's or D's". I noticed once I started to root for myself I seemed to gain support from my peers, teachers and most importantly my parents. Ever since that change multiple doors of opportunities have opened. Of course the journey I took to change my attitude wasn't

During my time at California State University Channel Islands I was living on campus, my father passed away from cancer in that first year. It is reflected in my academics the hardship of facing death as a teenager away from home. Though it has taken years to find myself, I am happy to say that my academics as well as my physical and spiritual health have rebounded and improved. I hope, though my grades suffered early on in my college career, Mount St Mary's University will be able to see the successes, motivation, and goals I have for my future.

As an Engineering Technology student at Northern Illinois University (NIU) playing Division I baseball, I have learned an exceptional amount about myself in these past four years and the type of person and leader I hope to become. My athletic experiences at NIU have had an invaluable impact on the person I am today by exposing both my strengths and weaknesses. An MBA along with my athletic background and engineering experience will help achieve my career goal of entering the professional sports industry.
Penn State University: University Park is the right fit for me. First, they have all the possible majors I am interested in unlike other colleges and universities. Starting from architecture to biology. Second, I am used to class sizes of thirty to twenty people and at Penn State there is a student- teacher ratio of 17:1, so it is around the amount I am accustomed to. Third, I will be able to afford it; Penn State is in my price range since they're tuition can vary from $11,929 to $29,536 and they also provide financial aid for those who come from low-income families (me). Aside from financial aid and class size, Penn State is huge. It is filled with people from different backgrounds and they alway have an activity going on, which would

I have always held myself to high academic standards, but during my undergrad education, I had a challenge of maintaining, proving and holding myself to the high standard I had when I was in high school due to financial constraints. January 19th 2005 was my first day in the United States with a visa stamped to study Engineering. I was excited and pleased to be given the chance and the offer to study at Truman State University. Transitioning into the American system was not that easy, homesick all the time, the weather, the food and assimilating myself into the system.
