1. Public school districts in urban areas face unreasonable obstacles to providing a quality education for low-income students. A funding mix of federal, state, and local funds can lead to many urban districts receiving less funding per student than suburban districts. Students in urban districts need more resources due to significantly lower household incomes and household education levels. Many cities face an increasing number of for profit charter schools that reduce student population without providing a higher quality education. State funding in Ohio severely penalizes districts with shrinking populations, so the rising number of charter schools hurts public districts. The best way to tackle this issue is to change state education funding to help districts that need it the most. Basing state funding more on average house pricing or family income instead of population growth and standardized testing could help equalize education quality. Changing funding metrics and
In response to your Instructional Dean of Students position, please consider my cover letter and resume as my interest in this position. I still believe that throughout inspiration and education we can make a difference in this ever changing, globalized world. Each child can meet expectations and become high-achievers that progressively meet learning growth. Therefore, we must create and nurture a safe, all inclusive, learning environment in which teachers can teach and students can learn. The vision must be the best education for all in which all stakeholders are active in the learning community and where everyone is accountable and reliable for the student's learning as a priority.
Over the last two years at the Howard Community College, I have spent truly unforgettable moments with friends and teachers at this amazing community. Initially, I came to Howard Community College to prepare myself for the 4-year university because I was not fully ready for university level academics as I am an international student from Mongolia. Specifically, English was not my strongest subject, therefore, I had to go through the step of community college in order to be ready for 4-year university. Now, I strongly believe that these two years have prepared me both academically and personally for the next chapter of my life. Furthermore, the past years have opened my eyes to a broader spectrum as I am constantly engaging with such diverse

This semester, I have strengthened my understanding of various coursework such as Algebra, Pre-Calculus, Calculus, and Chemistry by tutoring in the Normandale Tutoring Center. I believe this will help me tutor the students more effectively than before. I also have acquired more leadership experiences through the Phi Theta Kappa and Leadership Through Service programs. I would like to share my advice with the senior Upward Bound students on the importance of campus involvement. All in all, it is my desire to help Upward Bound students achieve their academic goals and prepare for college life.

After watching this interview, I feel that a well defined leadership purpose statement is the distinction between a good leader and a great leader. Carolyn McKnight’s interview on leadership purpose statements really opened my eyes to the power of these statements, and the time and energy one needs to put into creating a leadership purpose statement. At first it seemed that completing a statement this powerful would be a very daunting task. After watching Mrs. McKnight’s interview, I am confident in my ability to come up with a statement, and that I will have the courage to follow through with it.
I am writing to express my interest in the Graduate Assistantship position with CSET Advising Center at Minnesota State, Mankato. The reason I want to study for a PhD (concentration in Strategy, International Management and Entrepreneurship) is that I have a passion for research, and wish to pursue a career that would enable the creation and dissemination of knowledge in this field. Though I started my undergraduate research exposure in the field of bioscience, the opportunity to study courses such as microeconomics, management, psychology and entrepreneurship during my second BS at Rutgers University as a Fulbright-PLUS scholar helped me rethink about the field in which I would wish to make my future contributions. Then, during my Master’s, I worked on a dissertation analyzing the liberalized pharmacy market in Sweden after the deregulation of the pharmacies in 2009. The experience of the Master’s dissertation along with different modules in
