Setting goals is what drives people to growth and change within themselves. If one fails to dream and sets goals, it is unlikely the will grow or change (Scott, 2014). Allowing myself to set goals is a personal commitment and a drive to make change. Growing, educating and knowledge with time allows one to feel safe to dream and thrive to make better and larger goals. My first goal after obtaining my BSN in April 2017 is to work on myself and my family. In my career, my goal will be to work on my clinical ladder and seek ways to improve myself and my facility. There are many committees I would like to join and be a part of at work. I know I will have reached my goal when I have moved up several levels on the clinical ladder. My plans for professional development in the next three to 10 - 15 years will still be working at the bedside spreading my knowledge to others who are willing to learn. If financially I am able I would like to pursue my MSN. Being a leader is something that inspires me and I wish to be knowledgeable enough to help and teach others later in life. The final goal would be to not retire, but to cut down to part time and remain at the bedside. I would love to travel and volunteer my time to others in need of healthcare outside of the US. I will know I have reached this goal when I am at peace
Most importantly, in addition to achieving my personal goals, the major goal in my life is to become an active functioning member in society. As a doctor I will give back to the community by volunteering to host blood drives or going to third world countries to deliver vaccines to the poor. However, on top of being a doctor I hope to give back to the community through my Eagle project and other service projects I have worked on. I am proud to go to Boy Scout meetings and help the younger Scouts achieve their goals of ranking up. With Boy Scouts I have had multiple opportunities to give back to the community. I remember on during this past winter during the Christmas Tree fundraiser we helped an older lady who could not lift her tree outside of her living room. With the help of a few other scouts we took off several ornaments, left on the tree, and carried the tree down to the curb. I am looking forward to continuing these experiences with Scouts, after I achieve the Eagle Rank.
I have been able to see the joy on a child’s face when they finally make a shot, the joy on their face when they learn how and when to cross the street, and the joy on their face when they realize that they have the potential to be anything they want to be in life. Being able to watch this all happen has allowed me to realize that I want to see these kinds of amazing reactions every day for the rest of my life. On top of this, I want to be the one to allow them to have this reaction. To me, it is the best feeling in the world when I know that I have helped someone do something they felt they couldn’t do before. This being said, my volunteer work has persuaded me into the direction of the medical field. I feel this has happened because the medical field gives me an enormous variety of ways to impact lives
The Veterans Health Administration (VHA) is the largest integrated health care system in the United States, providing services to 8.9 million Veterans each year (U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs, 2016). A significant amount of these Veterans are considered homeless or at risk for homelessness. Homelessness is a complex problem whose solution requires more than simply a roof and a bed. Sadly, along with homelessness, a great portion of homeless Veterans struggle with many other issues regarding their physical and mental health, as well as substance abuse issues. Although, during the last decade, the Department of Veterans Affairs has made great strides in improving policy for processes and procedures to ensure that these Veterans receive
The experience taught me to work hard to achieve my goal of becoming a doctor and helping as many people as I can. It taught me not to waste my time. All of my dedication has pushed me to be the best person I can be so in the future I can feel confident about all of my choices. Volunteering at Children’s Hospital offered me an experience that pushed me to strive for no less than excellence. By volunteering, I watched my dreams and ambitions get closer, and although the process is a slow and difficult one, every second of it was worth it because I was able to watch everything I value become
I wanted to give back to the community that has given to me. Even though being a student athlete significantly shaped my day, I have a passion of helping others. Admittedly, it was difficult to allot time into my schedule, but I knew I had to find a way and I did. I took part in volunteering at a nursing home and worked specifically with patients that had dementia. Each week I would spend most of my time interacting with patients. I was able to talk to veterans, scholars, pastors, and scientist. I sat with them as they fought through confusion and agitation while trying to recount previous years. It was in the nursing home that I learned my attraction to healthcare was not limited to sciences. My commitment to medicine was also fueled by my passion to guide patients to be strong through an illness by instilling
I wanted to first express my gratitude for your dedication to the students of Miami-Dade county. I believe we will change how South Florida views early childhood education.
Having this opportunity to learn and experience the medical field in a more real and deep way make me realize how much I enjoyed to help others feel better when they're more burnable and to know how many challenges the
Currently, I am in the process of earning my Bachelor’s degree in Biology with a pre-medical emphasis from Grand Canyon University. Upon graduation, I hope to attend either a medical or physician assistant school. My specific goal in the medical field is still up in the air, however, I am avidly exploring the fields of pathology, oncology, emergency medicine, and surgery. My interest in the medical field was sparked by my human anatomy and physiology class during my senior year of high school. Put simply, my life in high school was rough, and I was completely lost, as far as my career decisions were concerned. I enrolled in a human anatomy course, to fill a hole in my schedule during my senior
As an anxious first year in 2017, I remember joining a club, MedLife, that first sparked my interest in becoming a surgical physician assistant. In the year of 2018, I was elected as a board member for MedLife, where we encourage our members to devote their time, energy, and most of all their dedication to underserved populations in third world countries. This club is based on three committees: fundraising, volunteering, and mobile clinics. I participated in each of these committees because they all seemed compelling to join. However, the mobile
Approximately a year ago, six surgeons experienced an aviation crash. Their hospital, previously known as Seattle Grace Mercy West, had received a request to assist with a conjoined twin surgery from Boise Hospital, since they had just successfully completed a case of this type of surgery a month earlier. In response, Mercy West sent six of their surgeons from different specialties onto a plane that afternoon. The plane never arrived at Boise Hospital. In fact, it was not until three days later that a rescue helicopter spotted the wreckage in the middle of the woods. By the time the helicopter had arrived, two of the surgeons had died, and one had endured a serious injury to her right femur.
Falcon ECHS is a great opportunity. Falcon ECHS allows you to graduate from high school and earn an associates degree at the same time. They have smaller classes. The school focuses on education instead of extra curricular activities. Falcon ECHS is the school for me.
Volunteering at sharp hospital , is what is a good idea after hearing the things my friends including my cousin did at this program and i sounds really and something that really suits me because i have a passion for helping other.Since my future career plan is to become a RN, this program would very great way of starting.
In my opinion, Mercy Corps is an exceedingly marketable Non-Governmental Organization. In fact, I see their ads on YouTube and other websites I visit frequently by taking this route they can reach a diverse group of individuals, which increases their ability to advocate their mission. They are heavily engaged with the media and have a great deal of press releases, news clips and media enterprises. The press releases just inform the public about their work, programs, and sponsors. For reference, I had seen some press releases about refugee aid, grants, humanitarian efforts, and public health campaign. When it comes to media resources I think Mercy Corps undoubtedly surpasses lots of Non-Governmental Organization’s expectations. Mercy Corps
On many occasions my personal goals have come before my professional aspirations. A career in the medical field has always been something I have looked forward to. As a child I wanted and dreamed of being a doctor, however due to the choices I made in life and the priorities that I had not thought of, I have come to realize that my childhood dream may not come true. Yet, I was able to compromise and make short and long term goals that will lead me into a career in the medical field. My long term goal is to enter the medical field world and be a respected contributor to it. I want to be able to help others in the time of need. In
