When thinking of what my unique qualities can contribute to the community at Florida Gulf Coast University, my thought was to study the university in its entirety. In my highschool career I spent most of my time at the pool as a swim instructor and lifeguard and surprisingly this was what showed me that caring for children was my passion. By working with these kids and learning how to care for them it only gave me more confidence in my decision to become a pediatrician.This and my personal experience with children really opened my eyes to how what I truly wanted to do going into college was right in front of me. Education never interested me. My parents weren't bothered if I wasn't into school. As long I got a "C or D" I was safe. It wasn't till I got accepted into the ACE program at Gateway Community College that I started to value my education. This program allowed me to attend Community College while in high school. I grew strict towards my education meaning I no longer just aimed to pass. As I changed my attitude towards my education my parents did the same thing. They no longer tolerated "C's or D's". My attention was to search about universities and the opportunities they provide for their students. I looked for college that makes me feel part of a something big and not about me graduating from the university. After researching on a couple of colleges, I chose Texas A&M as my top university to enroll in the coming fall semester. I have always had an interest in engineering majors, especially chemical engineering, because of laboratory experiments and learning about new chemicals. The Church Educational School that I'd be grateful and fortunate to attend would be Brigham Young University, Provo. As I went into high school, Byu Provo was the first university I heard of that caught my attention instantly after hearing my professors talking about it. Penn State is a tradition in my family and I hope to carry on that tradition. The last three generations of my family; my father, grandfather, and great-grandfather all attended Penn State. Now it is my time to become the fourth generation. I want to be able to have pride in the institution my family members loved to attend and take part in the activities that make Penn State great.
