Imagine walking everywhere or riding a horse to get somewhere you wanted. Life would be way different without any mechanics. Being a mechanic is a career I am very interested in. A mechanic has to work on sophisticated and complicated parts, this career has things that fit and do not fit me, and I have a plan to achieve my goal.
Mechanic work in multiply working conditions. Most of the time mechanics work in climate controlled environments. Although working outdoors to fix a vehicle that is stranded on the side of the road is not rare. since diesel vehicle do not always break down when it is nice out mechanics are forced to work in rain, extreme heat or cold, ETC. Typically mechanics have short breaks and long working hours since the work has to get done on time. Mechanics wear multiple thing to keep them safe such as, Gloves Eye wear, steel toe boots. Using such precautionary measure is necessary because Cuts, burns, bruises and injuries are common in this career field. To help protect the employees, shops often have well lit and well ventilated work areas. Working on diesel vehicles is not a clean job, mechanics often go home with oil, grease, mud etc. on them from the vehicles. Lifting heavy tools and part from the vehicle is very common since diesel vehicles are usually large.
Mechanics work with many tool and machines such as, drills, wrenches, hoists and lifts, welding, computers, microchips, saws, presses, air hoses and air tools, power tools,
The career I chose to undertake as my profession is that of a mechanical engineer. Why do I want to become a mechanical engineer? Well, for starters, I would be able to design, build and possibly repair many various machines and other technologies that are complex. These technologies can range from being already in use on a global scale to new, futuristic designs that are highly technical. Also, this career includes being a sort of jack-of-all-trades, where I would possess knowledge in mathematics, physics, etc. Finally, this career offers me the chance to expand outside my immediate area since mechanical engineers are well desired around the globe as well.
Before being introduced into the medical field, I had always seen myself as an engineer. Growing up I was fascinated by how everything worked. When something would break down I would be the first with a screw driver in my hand ready to take it apart. Of course being at such a young age, I would often worsen the situation than fix it, but the thrill and excitement from fixing a broken object meant the world to me. I thought becoming an engineer was my lifelong passion.
Before I wanted to become an Auto Mechanic Technician, I knew a few things already. For example, they make good money in this field. Also that their physical environment is around a lot of machinery. Next I wanted to find out what the working conditions were like. The salary and education to make sure my degree I’ll receive would help me in this field. By using books, the Internet, and a personal interview, I discovered that being an Auto Mechanic was a career choice for me.
Mechanics are people who knows what is wrong with an automobile and how to fix one, There are a lot of people in this career field, about 701,000 people are employed in this career in the United States. Mechanics have quite a bit of duties to pursue, some of these duties are to identify mechanical problem, often by using computerized diagnostic equipment. They also have to test parts to make sure they all work properly. If they do not work properly they then explain to their clients what automotive problems they are having, and inform them of the repairs they will make and what the cost will be.
Let’s get into the job description and what these technicians do daily. The main goal for any job related to this career is to keep the vehicle running. They do this with regular maintenance and repairs. Their type of job and models of cars they work on depends on their training, whether you work on trucks, European cars, and more. Here are some of their daily duties: They keep tools and equipment available for inspecting and testing vehicles, follow a checklist or computer to make sure that all important parts are examined, topping off fluids and checking them, replacing of repairing worn parts Hoses, brakes etc.), disassemble and reassemble parts, and finally explaining to their clients with problems their car has or may have in the future. I can also personally relate to this career because I currently work in auto shop with 2 other "mechanics". We usually work on AC problems, brakes, oil changes, tire change, and many other problems that arise.
Mechanical engineers design, develop and manufacture machines that produce, transmit and use power. Wherever machines are produced or used, there are mechanical engineers. They play a pivotal role in nearly everything that makes life work. From seemingly simple devices like doorknobs and zip-lock freezer bags to complex robots and spacecrafts, there is hardly an area of everyday life that hasn’t been influenced by a mechanical engineer somewhere along the path from invention to installation. The other consideration about the physical effort required to fix an automobile becomes the long term toll on the human body. Mechanics must work smart and where protection. This includes eye protection, dust masks, back braces, hardhats and ear plugs. Failure to wear this equipment can mean an early retirement. And not in a good way. Mechanics turning wrenches for 30 years or more often have back problems and hearing damage.
It wasn’t just this interest that made me decide engineering was right for me. I wanted to help people through something I was good at. Since I was about ten I’ve helped take care of my grandmother and after that my grandfather, and it became a big part of my life. I truly did love helping them and being able to make their lives easier. I loved it so much in fact, in my junior year I started volunteering at an assisted living community. Engineering allows me to funnel this compassion of helping others into my work through a subject matter I
An auto mechanics job is to work on automobiles, A.K.A, vehicles/cars. It is a very important job because; if we didn’t have auto mechanics many peoples’ cars wouldn’t work correctly. Automotive mechanics can be a boy or a girl, and they can work on almost any type of vehicle if they have the right qualifications. Some auto mechanics; like my grandfather, can work on many types of automobiles such as four wheelers, cars, SUV’s, trucks, and sometimes big rigs. Fixing big rigs is not the job of an auto mechanic it is often the job of a diesel mechanic but, some auto mechanics can and do work of big rigs. Automotive mechanics of all kinds are very important in our society today.
Wear your P.P.E. (personal protective equipment) for example, your welding helmet so you don’t blind yourself, safety glasses/goggles to protect your eyes from flying projectiles, Welding gloves so you don’t get a sunburn and keep your hands protected from the extreme heat, Leathers or welding jackets keep the rest of your body safe from burning yourself and to keep your clothes clean with no holes. Always keep your work space clean so there aren’t any trip hazards. Be aware, in unsafe working conditions because other people might be unaware where others are.
“Did I win? Did I lose? Those are the wrong questions. The correct question is: Did I make my best effort?” If so, he says, “You may be outscored but you will never lose.”
A five-foot five-inch replica of the Empire State Building that I stacked entirely with playing cards back in high school was the first time I appreciated the subtleties involved in creating complex card structures. I gradually progressed to stacking domes and a full-sized stadium, but the way this tower held together fascinated me, and I realized that there was much more going on in addition to the seemingly obvious concept of maintaining the right balance. After all, nothing could be that simple. Likewise, after four years of undergraduate studies in civil engineering, it seems to me I have barely scratched its surface. A graduate school will allow me to delve deep and let me explore the finer aspects of the field. Furthermore, this is crucial in terms of achieving my long-term goal of pursuing a PhD to carve out a career in industrial research.
I have literally known what I want to be since I was a toddler. Of course, as a three-year old putting together Legos, I could not have verbalized that I want to be a mechanical engineer. However, it was at that time that I began to develop and use the skills that I will need for my desired career. I began to consider how parts went together and the different components necessary to build and sustain various systems. Part of the inspiration was the simple fun that I had while putting together these small toys, but part of my inspiration was my father. He was a maintenance turn-around coordinator at an oil refinery, which led to my own desire to work as a mechanical engineer in a refinery one day. As I grew older, my interest in mechanical engineering remained constant, though I expanded my interest beyond the oil refineries. In fact, after attending a pre-college program, Jackling Introduction to Engineering, offered by Missouri Science and Technology in Rolla, Missouri in the summer of 2011, I realized that engineering was the perfect way to exercise my curiosity and inventiveness in a constructive and productive manner.
Sneakers are not counted as safety equipment, but they are only used by roofers. Sneakers, sandals, and dress shoes should not be worn on the job they do not provide enough protection. Only safety shoes should be worn on the job. Gloves are important for carpentry because they can keep your hands safe and sometimes we need, warm. Probably the best gloves for carpentry work are a lightweight type. A suede finish to the leather improves the gripping ability of the gloves, and cloth gloves tend to catch rough materials. Before you go to work on any job, make sure that your entire body is properly protected. Hard hats, flannel clothes, gloves, goggles, and proper shoes should be looked over to make sure you have them, and after you know you have them you are clear to go to work.
I am in pursuit of a life where the education I choose lets me explore the wealth of knowledge and wisdom. I strongly recognize that manufacturing engineering is the domain where my purpose and passion mingle. It is my earnest belief that the education in manufacturing engineering that I have received until now has helped me to grasp the fundamental principles of the subject. This knowledge, when coupled with dedicated master’s study would be the ideal preparation for a career in applied research or academics in the manufacturing industry, a vast field of science from developing new materials to manufacture an aircraft. After giving a visit to an Aero India Show last year in Bangalore has, developed a curiosity in me to know the manufacturing world of an aerospace industry. It is for this reason that I wish to pursue a Masters course in Aerospace Engineering in the “Aerospace Structures and Materials track” from Delft University of Technology.
