Statement of Purpose to Attend a University

I have lived in San Antonio, Texas my entire life. Most of my family, from my mother’s side, still lives here, too. Only two of my cousins have ventured outside of Texas. Everyone else either lives in San Antonio or surrounding cities. One of my cousins, who still lives in Texas, is attending Texas State University in San Marcos. He and I are the only two males from my mother’s family who have been to college, so we are each proud of the other, and we know that our family is proud of us. Attending college is a serious pursuit. For years I struggled with attending college. Happily, having experienced a few rough semesters, I now see the overall college picture. I had a successful and satisfying six months of college in 2013. My ambition is to continue working diligently to earn a college degree within the next two years. I was a talented musician during my first twelve years of school. My musical skills enabled me to learn violin, piano, and my all-time favorite, percussion. I was a leader in the high school band from being in charge of the drum line, earning first division ratings in every UIL solo event I entered, and being elected band president. My vision was to become a successful contemporary drummer. I performed with various local bands, recorded several albums, took a few tours across the country, and sought my musical future.
